A letter sits on the desk of Emperor Godfrey, sealed by the crest of House Denims-Therving. It reads,

Dear Godfrey of House Horen,

Friend it is time to hand over the reigns of power to the next generation of greedy and mischievous politicians. I fear that I am too old for this position on the council and must retire due to incapability to handle and make decisions. I remember when I had first become Lord High Treasurer Thomas Fust's apprentice at age 6 in the city of Al'Khazar. Let it be a story to your children and their children that you may achieve anything, all you must do is strive towards it. I will still remain one of your advisers  but not with the dire responsibilities. Currently I enjoy the warm meals here in the Hightower Retirement home villa along with James and other members of our union. I wish you the best of luck your majesty.

Your Asswiper,

Patrick Denims

As Corbin Myers reads the news of Patrick Denims's resignation, he sighs.

"Another bad turn for the Treasury.  We do not need more idiotic nobles whispering into the Emperor's ear, and...wiping his ass."

Pontiff Adeodatus the First slowly rises from the Salvian Throne when he hears the news of Lord Denims resignation. With a grunt he slowly walks down the steps and nods to the shields before  leaving the palace. As he walks briskly down the streets of Salvus towards the stable, his muttering grows "I have... toiled and wasted my time far  too long on these people to see the old houses, the true officials and loyal friends resign from their rightful place within the government due to some... fat bastard. Finally he makes it to the stables and mounts his horse. "Hmph, I'll just have to find a replacement. It also seems like I'll be lowering the obesity in the Empire..."

Merches Timothee hears rumours of a resignation from a rather esteemed political figure. Patrick Denims? he thinks, wasn't he one of those who served alongside my grandfather? It strikes him as odd that someone would be able to stay in power for so long.
