MamaBearJade 2090 Share Posted April 18, 2013 The audible click of a crossbow was lost on the intended target. A man, hidden on the roof had aimed his crossbow for a young half-elf. She was going to go into the Salvus square to see if she could find her friend, however her trip was cut short as a bolt flew through the delicate flesh on her left shoulder. Her piercing cries went unheard by the Salvian Shields. The ones who answered her cries, wanted her blood. As she was pulled back by a friend of her mother's she watched in horror as the mage shield and fellow elf held off the men. He stood his ground as she was wheeled back into the keep and up the stairs. She begged to be taken to a window so she could watch the man who guarded her. Fear and pain forced her on as the elf snuck her out of the keep and out the window. Stealing the young crippled girl into the night, he fled, hoping to keep the young halfbreed safe from more harm as the monsters that took to the keep searched. Now hiding somewhere farther away, infection spreads through her weakened body, taking any feeling she had regained from her legs. Nightmares and pain force her to wake nightly, crying for her father who still has no idea where she has been hidden away to. All the young girl knows is that this will not be the last attack on her. On one of the good days, she begins to write, hoping her small voice will be heard. Asking a friend of hers, the little letters are posted around Salvus in hopes she can save herself, and her brother. LetterCitizens of Salvus, Many of you know me by name, or by the wheelchair I use. I am Kaila, the child of a dark elf and a prince. I come to you asking for help. The shields were unable to protect me in several attacks. I have been shot twice by a bolt, both resulting in my legs becoming unusable. I have been kidnapped and used as a shield. I ask you, why? What have I done to deserve such pain? My life has been full of pain from sins I have not done, sins that I have begged the creator to save me from. I ask for friends, instead I have been given pain. Please, citizens of Salvus, help me through this and survive. I beg for forgiveness for any wrongs I have done. I beg for help through these trying times. Please. KailaThough the young halfbreed is brave, her resolve weakens faster as her health grows worse. She has gone through so much in just a few short elven days that she is barely able to push on. Her once bright and cheery smile has dulled after the loss of her mother. As she writes her letters, she feels her heart grow heavy as her young mind grows weary. She passes the letters over to her friend before once again falling into a restless sleep.
hex37 737 Share Posted April 18, 2013 *Nienna Calm, Matron of the Berkano Healers, unpins a letter off the wall while resting in transit between Vaerhaven and Malinor. She reads the letter over. A slanted frown begins to form on her face, and she emits a sad sigh as she finishes.* "I should do a check-up on her." *Nienna folds up the letter, and slides it into her bag.* "Such a sick world..." *Nienna makes a move to stand up, but pauses, thinking.* "She's still in a wheelchair, isn't she... Right, better get Izzy to come as support. I have miracles to preform." *Nienna nods resolutely to herself, and finishes her drink. She shuffles off with new purpose.*

Swgrclan 2682 Share Posted April 18, 2013 A hooded figure approached one of the several letters posted about within Salvus; it took several moments for the dark individual to drink in the message entirely, and the outcome of reading the message was a bitter, disapproving shake of his head. There were many solutions available to this "poor child" but she did not take them -- perhaps the things she was subjected to were deserved. After scribbling a response to the letter he had found hastily and posting it right below it, the figure hurriedly hobbled off; his message read the following - "Pitiful Child, Your problems will not be solved by pouring your intolerable, dull emotions into several parchments and scattering them about in search for "assistance" with your dilemma. You are most-likely assaulted daily because of your apparent "half-breed" lineage; humans will not welcome you in their capital. Travel elsewhere and settle anywhere but within Salvus -- Elves are to remain in their nation, Humans are to remain in theirs and the same goes for all other separate inhabitants of this new-found land. Despite being an individual of both breeds, I assure you that your kind is welcomed more by the children of the trees than those of more humane cultures and lineages." Below the message, a small symbol known by none besides those of the robed gentleman's family was marked; it was the emblem of House Ipos.
Old Man Boiendl 1454 Share Posted April 18, 2013 Sits quietly within his study, maps and paintings of Salvus lay around him, aswell as pictures of Garth and his family. Pontiff Adeodatus the First begins to hum a little tune as he takes a quill and makes a big X across the picture of Laila. He then takes a small dagger out of her picture and moves it over to Kaila's slamming it down. "Finally, some progress." he says with a slight grin and a dark chuckle. spqrSancus 175 Share Posted April 18, 2013 The Sword of the Sorrow's Wind reads the letters. His eyes show a darkness, a shadow, that has not been seen in them for ages. He sighs. "This is the granddaughter of the king of Salvus, yet she receives little help except for that which foreigners bring, it seems... Why? Why is it, that the Roses ignore ME, a lowly elf, who has turned his back on his brother in arms, yet they shoot the young child who is royalty?" he mutters to himself. It once was he was a warrior... A killer... He wonders if he should just run away some day. become a hermit, or perhaps go back to his family, his House, his homeland of Asulon... But pains shoot through his side, reminding him, that all doors were closed for him, and that he would live a long, slow, horrible, life. He is tortured, but by whom, there is none. He is the torturer, he is the victim. He pulls from his bag, his journal... He begins to write. Alone and in pain. And when he finishes, he pulls a throwing knife from his satchel, and using it, pins the page from his journal to the wood underneath the note, ripping the page from the rest of the book. I am the Sword of the Sorrow's Wind. A former warrior, fighter, and soldier. Used to be a brave and able fighter. Had friends and contacts. Money. A family and a home. No longer. One by one, I lost all of these. First it was my home. I left it decades ago to come search for my brother. My family, as well. Then I learnt my brother was dead. Friends, money, contacts... Those were gone when I decided to attempt to follow my family's path. And that too is cut off from me, for in a great fight with orcs, I lost the ability to stand without a cane for some time. Even now, I find it hard to stand without one. None of these things will ever heal, and my time, I think, soon comes to a close, as though it has been written in the stars. But yours, I think, I think your life, written out in the stars, has greater things in store for you. Stay strong. Be brave. Do not falter. Keep living, and smile. Never let them think they have won.
