Kardel looks upon the upon the body of Ferron encased in ice, and then to Killeki, who is still weeping. Kardel had dared to cry to, but away from the sight of other. He had cried tears he had held back for hundreds of years, tears he had not even cried for his sons. Ferron had been a brother to him, and now he was gone, in the halls of Khaz'a'dentrumm.

"Yemekarr himself will wake to bid ever so wildly on Ferron's soul" Kardel says in a horribly sad tone, as he walks down the stairs, count Killeki at his side, to meet the king, and say the words that would bind his blood to the king.

Kardel descends into Vaerhaven, Thorin and his guard waiting there. Kardel walks up to the king, his long green and gold robes following behind him. The king looks at Kardel with a sad expression "Ah be surreh, ah nou 'ow moch 'e meant ta ye" says Thorin.

"Aye. . ." replies Kardel in a sorrowful tone.

"Does ye, Karde Irongut swear fealty and bind your blood with mine, thereby accepting da Jarldom uv Vaerhaven?" asks Thorin.

Kardel answers, his voice deep and grim, full of sorrow "Ah swear bah mah 'onor, an' boi mah ancestors bluud, Yemekarr as me witness, fealty ta ye and ta da citeh uv Vaerhaven"

Thorin hands Kardel a mithril knife, and Kardel takes the glove off his right hand, revealing the cold flesh beneath. He uses it to slit his hand, revealing the blood. The king does the same, and they bind their blood, for better or for worse.

Kardel walks down to the Vaerhaven square, most of the people of Vaerhaven waiting for him.

Kardel speaks, fog emitting from his old, cracked lips.

"I have dreadful news for you, my fair people, Ferron's fair people, citizens of Vaerhaven. Ferron, our Jarl, my brother, a beloved person to us all, has passed on to he halls of Khaz'a'dentrumm.

Through the crows, many gasps are heard. Kardel raises his voice over all of them "Worry not, Ferron died well, doing what he loved, and he saw fit that I, Kardel Irongut, now Kardel of Vaerhaven, should become the new Jarl. Worry not, your lives will not change. They may even become better, but most importantly, i promise that i shall continue following the ways of Ferron. I aim to make Vaerhaven the trading hub of the south, and make this city truly great. Also, I plan on carving a huge statue out of one of the mountains overlooking vaerhaven, the founder of the city, and a dwarf that in his own ways was a Paragon."

Kardel stops for a moment "That is all, my great people. Nothing will be changed, only a few things added. I hope you liek my reign as Jarl as much as you liked Ferrons, as I will try my best to be like him."

Kardel walks up to the castle of vaerhaven, Killeki leading him, his long robes following behind him.

Arabella was one of the few people who didn't gasp, as she already heard of his death.  In fact, she was the once who preserved him in a block of ice.

Arabella listens to the funny-looking dwarf who is replacing Ferron.  Despite his words, she is uncertain that this one can live up to Ferron's legacy.  Under Ferron's rule Vear'Haven almost overnight and the continuing construction a sign of progress.  She can still imagine the little bearded man who, despite his age, seemingly build the entire city by hand.
