An Unknown Visitor In The Cihi

 Share

Recommended Posts

As you wander passed the notice board of the grand cihi, you notice something leaning against the noticeboard, covered by a silken tarp. Your head tilts slightly, natural curiosity driving you as he step over, leaning down to uncover the objects.

You blink in mild surprise as two beautifully done oil paintings lay before you, a note attached to the outermost painting. You pick up the note, eyes scanning over it.

The script is delicate and beautiful, seeming to be written by a calligrapher of the utmost skill.

"Hail blessed citizen of the grand Mali'aheral cihi!"

"I had come in search of your great cihi after hearing of its' exquisite beauty, and of course, of its fabulously pure inhabitants. 'What luck!' I had thought, when I found the gate wide open."

A soft frown creases your brow, and you absently contemplate tracking down the one who foolishly left the gate open so you may spite them. You continue reading,

"I searched all around for any inhabitants, but it seemed that all were either asleep or elsewhere. Regardless! I simply could not resist the chance to paint your beautiful cihi, and so I have taken my two favorite sights within these walls, and laid them to a canvas. Consider these paintings my gift to you, blessed Mali'aheral, as after seeing the beauty of this lovely cihi, I would wish to perhaps live among you. Of course, I understand any skepticism you may have in regards to my suitability and purity, and so I do so look forwards to meeting you.

Despite your evident displeasure with the presence of a possibly impure outsider within your cihi, you look over the person's paintings with a critical eye. ((Open to full size for best effect :3))

Kalenz pauses and stares at the two paintings quizzically. After a few moments of eye flicking and thoughts he grunts lightly and procures a piece of parchment and a lustrous iron pin from his coat. He swiftly affixes both the original note and this piece of parchment to a nearby piece of wood. Purple letters form upon the parchment:

It is strange that one would paint Lin'evaral. Never before has the painting of a subject been more desirable but less purposeful. The city itself stands as a radiant pinnacle of our venerated society, and to paint it is certainly an honor to its beauty. That being said one would assume that any mali'thill who desired to see such a sight could look outside their very own window and see the cihi in its true glory. After all, none outside our pristine paradise deserve to see such images from the comfort of their own home. Though I suppose they may serve as a reminder of what is outside to those in the library and other such places.

Regardless, the presence of a painting created by one which I do not know is unnerving. Citizenship applications are recommended for unknown visitors. Particularly if they wish their purity to remain unquestioned.

A note would mysteriously be found alongside Kalenz', its' script just as lavish and flawless as the script that had decorated the previous note.

One does not paint the cihi for others to see, but rather so that one may absorb the beauty around himself, and then allow that beauty to flow from one's fingertips, to re-create such beauty in a realm of imagination that is, truly, divine. One believes that to truly experience beauty, one must take it into themselves, and then allow themselves to express that beauty outwardly, so one is left with an everlasting impression, and so that one may forever rejoice in the memory of that beauty.

One suggests that you think of art as a byproduct of experience. Or, more eloquently, as the outward expression of inward comprehension and absorption. More eloquently still, the physical result of enlightenment and learning.

Not to mention that to a valmir like myself, the chance to paint such a flawless scene is impossible to resist.

Behind the note, is pinned an application for citizenship. (( http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/83052-maliaheral-housing-and-citizenship/page-4#entry768188 ))
