Emperor Horen claimed that Oren requires more land for expansion, and is willing to use whatever force necessary to take the land for his vassals and citizens. This has come as a shock to all in Malinor, who believed themselves to be safe from the threat of war with Oren due to the Dalroi Treaty, negotiated with the recently departed Emperor Godfrey a few years ago. Apparently, Emperor Horen has no respect for this treaty, and has nullified it with this de facto declaration of war. He has also broken his blood pact with the Kingdom of Urguan, whose hold Kal’Halla is located in the wilds, serving as the center of activity in that region. Horen’s demands are as follows: The Elves of Malinor are to dissolve the Holy Princedom of Malinor, its current government, and to relinquish all of the titles, including Prince and High Princess. We are to become a dependent city state within Oren, with Horen as our Emperor. And finally, we are to cede all land south of the river near Luemaelin. Similar demands have been thrust upon the Kharajyr and those living in the Crownlands. The Wilds have been designated as the Emperor’s personal property to use as he sees fit, and he has demanded all currently living there tear down their settlements and leave immediately, or he will remove them forcibly. There was already an incident this seed in which the Emperor marched into Kal'Halla, claiming it as his own. It is likely Urguan will go to war with Oren eventually, but most likely not soon enough to save Malinor. Essentially, the Holy Princedom of Malinor will cease to exist, ending centuries of tradition among the Mali. As Oren’s armies threaten us from the North and East over the borders, which now include Lenfarthing, the High Council of Malinor, and all the Mali in Malinor are faced with a difficult and daunting choice. Malinor is caught in the throes of an economic recession, and its military is pitiful in both numbers and equipment next to Oren. It has no allies of any consequence, and its people are not yet recovered totally from the previous Civil war and invasion by Oren. Any strong position the High Council may have held before last seed has eroded beneath them almost instantly, and now the fate of the nation hangs in the balance. Horen is coming, it is now a matter of when and how much resistance will the Mali put up. ~Ebs ================================================================================ Resignation on the Lower Council, Relations with Haelun’or Worsen Iatrilemar Elervathar, the former Event Coordinator on the Lower Council of Malinor, has resigned from his seat, taking effect after the Leaf Ball next seed. With the removal or resignation of Amras, the previous steward of the Mali’Aheral district, there are no more Mali’Thill left on the councils of Malinor. The Mali’Thill, a radical group of Mali’Aheral, control the city-state of Haelun’or from the city of Lin’everal, which is located South of Luemaelin. Haelun'or quietly broke its ties with Malinor during the civil war, and despite attempts at healing the break, there has been no evidence that there has been anything but growing hatred among both groups of Mali. Recently, after a messy election or two, the new government in Lin’everal has pursued a doctrine of increasing racial discrimination, with the culling of those they claim as Impure from their blessed city. Horen specifically addressed Haelun’or in his recent ultimatum, expressing that he wished to leave them alone so long as they cooperated and did not aid Malinor. It is safe assume there will be no help coming from Haelun’or any time soon. ~Ebs ================================================================================ From Wedding to Rout During the wedding of War Prince Oceas Warwick and Yaziira Silverleaf, a strange group attacked the ceremony, making off with several in attendance. Not much is known about what happened, as reports vary wildly, but Malinor was caught completely off guard. The wedding has been rescheduled to after the Leaf Ball next seed, however some will be bringing extra weaponry this time. ~Ebs ================================================================================ Lenfarthing Annexed A sketch of the fields of Lenfarthing, in Northern Anthos. The elders of Lenfarthing, a group of Halflings that govern the Halfling settlement east of Malinor, has agreed to annexation by the Holy Oren Empire. This act removes any kind of buffer between the border of Malinor and the border of Salvus. Additionally, it will permit the Faith to bring many Halflings into its fold. The Church of Oren has a long history in the Halfling community, with many former clergy members hailing from Dunwood and the Vale. In Aegis, before the Undead attacked, Dunwood hosted one of the oldest parishes in the Kingdom of Oren. According to the charter, which defines Lenfarthing as a Borough, the elders will maintain control over almost everything in Lenfarthing, and are only subordinate to the Emperor, not the nobility. Lenfarthing could possibly be used as a base for troops to attack Malinor, and its vast fields could feed an army or two. It is now known what Emperor Horen plans for the humans fun sized cousins, and only time will tell if this bond proves beneficial for them. ~Ebs ================================================================================ Vaer’haven Surrenders and a Regent is Appointed Grand Marshal Dreek Stormhammer, Regent of the Kingdom of Urguan The dwarven hold of Vaer’haven surrendered earlier this elven week, choosing to abandon the rebel to their own devices. Jarl Kardel Irongut was promptly removed, and Rosso, a mysterious figure from Vaer’haven, was made Jarl after serving as the head of the Council. Shortly after this, Duregar Thunderfist surrendered to King Thorin, who accepted his surrender and gave the rebel King mercy. Duregar has been banished to the deep parts of Kal’Azgoth, so as to isolate him from his kin. More recently, King Thorin of the Kingdom or Urguan has taken ill, and has appointed Grand Marshall Dreek Stormhammer as his Regent. What exactly a Regent can do, I am not entirely sure, however, he will be challenged by the new threats posed by Oren with Emperor Horen’s latest ultimatum including the Hold of Kal’Halla, a dwarven dependency in the Wilds. ~Ebs ================================================================================ A New Company is Born on the Waves After a few hours of negotiations at Vivendi-Talaran Conference, three shipwrights have agreed to a partnership known as the USCP. (United Shipwright Collaboration Pact) These three ship making companies account for an estimated 75% of Anthos’ shipbuilding capabilities. Formerly known as the separate entities Vivendi Building Co., The Talaran Sailing Company and Zevandir Ships. With most of the shipping and shipbuilding industries cornered by this company, any new shipbuilder will have a difficult time attempting to penetrate this tightly knit market. ~Ebs ================================================================================ The Wilting of a Rose Former Empress Rose Horen died mysteriously several seeds ago. She disappeared in the middle of the night, and her death ignited a avalanche of speculation and rumor. The reports vary so widely, it would be unprofessional to guess which might be right. However, it is confirmed that there has not been any sort of public mourning declared for her, nor will there be any type of public funeral for the passing of the departed Emperor Godfrey’s wife. Emperor Horen V has not been noted to have expressed any concern over Rose’s death, though it is because he has been planning an invasion of the territory surrounding Oren. Rose will be remembered as the Mother of several in the Imperial family, most notably Sophia, who spent much of her early life living in Malinor during the Descendants’ stay in Kalos. May the Creator guide Rose Horen, and may she find eternal rest. ~Ebs ================================================================================ New Garrison at Furnestock In lines with the military build up all over Oren by the various noble houses following the recession triggered by the death of Toveah Goldman, the Duke of Furnestock, Grand Knight Uthor Silverblade, has recreated the Guardians of Furnestock. Lead by High Commander Charles Greymane, the Guardians are mostly composed of soldiers from Silverblade and its vassals: Greymane, Stafyr, and Ishikiwa. Tasked with defending the duchy and the larger Empire, the group’s ranks have swelled considerably. One can either be a Man-at-Arms or a Ranger, and will fight for the honor and glory of House Silverblade and the rest of Furnestock. This new militia has brought life back into Furnestock, which until very recently, was almost totally abandoned, with its leaders serving as ministers in the Empire and its people choosing to spend time in Salvus. Now, however, people are trickling back into the Duchy, signifying a possible revival for this struggling province of the Empire. ~Ebs ================================================================================ Dissolution of the War Uzg Not many are certain on what exactly is happening in Krugmar, the nation of the orcs, however, it seems to be significant. The position of Rex has been abolished, and the nation has broken up into clans, which are now autonomous. I am not certain what will come of this development, however, the loss of a national government may leave the orcish wastes open for penetration, and I would not be surprised to see some of the hardier settlers coming in through the cloud temple settling in traditionally orcish lands, choosing to weather the harsh weather and possibly hostile neighbors in search of better lives. ~Ebs ================================================================================ Editor’s Note: If you are interested in working for The Flagship or would like to report on a story in Malinor or abroad, please contact me, Ebs, via messenger bird. Mithradites 1168 Share Posted May 18, 2013 Sitting within the The White Archer inn, Lucion flicks through a copy of "The Flagship" one of the local illusionists brought him. He raises his eyebrow upon sighting the article on Haelun'or and Iatrilimar, and grunts quietly under his breath. "So many inaccuracies, oh wise and venerable "Fourth Prince of Malinor." One would think that a founder of our nation would have the ability to spell Haelun'or in the correct manner."
Didag 4 Share Posted May 18, 2013 Golrodir Eritaf grabs a copy of the Flagship as he returns home. Once there, he sits down in his favourite chair and begins to leaf through it. "Another excellent issue, as usual!" He says to himself, smiling.
