PtahWithin 1320 Share Posted May 31, 2013 A message is placed on the various notice boards of Malinor, as well as upon the entrance to the Druidic Grove. One of the copies from Malinor was not attached properly, and the wind tore it off. It was carried in the air by the breeze, until it landed several meters away from the city of Lin'evaral. The messages read as follows: To the Druids of Malinor, I have in all my life had great respect and admiration for the philosophy of the Druids and the Aspects, for it similar to my own understandings of the Teachings of Malin. Yet now, faced with your handling of the Mali'aheral situation, I consider you to have turned upon the beliefs you used to exemplify so greatly. You objected greatly to the felling of the elderwood trees situated near Lin'ervaral. Yet why, if I may ask, did you not so much as bat an eye as greater amounts of elderwood trees were felled to construct Leumaelin? The settlers came upon this land, pristine and unspoiled. Where do you think the wood of our walls or our houses came from? The greater elderwood trees were left untouched through the construction, yet it became necessary for the builders to clear trees within the walls of the city to make room for its paths and clearings. And yet through all of this, you did not call us 'human elves' as you have the Mali'aheral. It is because you know that we of Malinor were not intent on the purpose of the destruction of nature. All we did was make room for ourselves: we required space, and so we made it. We required a home, and so we made it. And when we required food to eat, an area of elderwood trees were cleared to make way for a farm, so that the Mali may not starve. We did remove life from nature, but we have added to it as well, through ourselves. The farm which the woods once were is still home to beautiful, living life. Yet you called the Mali'aheral 'human elves' when they tried to do the same. They needed space to cultivate their crops, to not starve, and so they did exactly as we did. And you condemned them for it, and provoked them into aggression when you planted trees again and again in the spaces they simply required to live. And in instances when they returned to clear those trees, you used your connection to the aspects to act aggressively on them. I do not condone the threats the Mali'aheral have made as just. But if any are to be called 'human elves', it is you, Druids. The Valah are so eager to fight and kill in the name of their God, and you have begun to act in the same manner to those who so openly reject the Aspects as the Mali'aheral do. And that is what this all is about. You found our building of a farm to be just, yet theirs not. You have allowed your anger and grudges of their kind to overcome you entirely, and so you thought not at all what consequences your actions would have for all of Malinor. You have not only made a delicate situation worse, but you have slandered the way of Malin through your aggression and self-centered acts. I pray that the spirit of Malin shall guide you back to being those who I may respect and admire. -Asthil Haumel, Event Coordinator of the Lower Council of Malinor
hex37 737 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Nienna says aloud. "I don't really get it. Why place trees there? Flowers are already growing happily in that field. Nature is everything, druian'ikru."
Swgrclan 2682 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Upon coming across the notice, the Shadow Druid peers over it with a stale and vague interest; a grimace happening upon his ashen features as soon as he reads to the very last word. Misunderstanding seems to grip even the minds of Malinor's Elves, not just the "Hume-Elves" (as he has deemed them) had. Begrudgingly, he produced a parchment and chunk of coal from his satchel and settled onto a grassy clearing within the Grove -- beginning to conjure up a reply to the statement. It only took minutes for him to write up what the Druid assumed to be a "correction" to Asthil's public statement. He simply nailed the parchment beside the original, unsigned, before wandering off. It reads the following:"Asthil Haumel, Your interpretation of what has struck a conflict between both the Order and the Hume-Elves is both mistaken and the justification for the severing of the Elder trees is flawed. Consider the following: The Druidic Order (or rather one of my brothers, an Arch-Druid and I) came to the Hume-Elf capital to consult their reasoning upon the land they stated was theirs by rights wrought from a contract forged with Oren. Of course, we did not agree with this -- all land, despite what peoples settle upon it's soils -- belongs to none but the land itself and the Aspects. The Hume-Elves, in turn, disagreed with this and after a series of provoking events, the trees that have grown near their Silver City were severed and felled; but know this: They did not need to commit such crimes. While Malinor felled trees to raise their capital, the High-Elves felled the trees (along with the ones we planted) out of spite when we offered a lesson; they willingly disconnect themselves from their brethren and disregarded the teachings of Malin to simply spite us, the Druids, because we made an effort at making their uppity, self-concious minds focus upon their nonsensical ramblings about "pride" they have garnered; which, if I may add, is flawed. Just like the origin of their purist society. I trust you will do well not to make mistaken assumptions and post these nonsensical statements the next time you require answers. Aspects guide you, Brother." As stated before, no signature was provided; only the message.
Song Druid 1486 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Taps his chin in thought, before nuzzling the owl on his shoulder. "Whotin, I wish these intricacies were as easy for them to understand as it is for you, eh?" He cackles softly as he is nipped at by the playful bird. "I say, such anger from the silver children, they would threaten their very brothers. This must end. Tomorrow, why, tomorrow I will bring this conflict to its resolution!" The Elder Druid moves into the Grove now, seeking rest.
OldeTymer 323 Share Posted May 31, 2013 *Callax approaches one of the messages that is placed in Malinor, reading over it, nodding all the while. He speaks to the weasel that sets perched on his shoulder* "Ronald, this Asthil fellow has come to a well thought out conclusion. Though, the Mali'aheral were more in the wrong with how they acted towards the felling of the trees. I still believe we should have left it be, regrown a better forest in a blighted land elsewhere. You see, Ronald, with these trees fallen, new possibilities open for future wildlife. There now grows a vast field of gorgeous blooms outside the High Elven walls, which has been made into a great habitat for new life. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other nectar feeding critters may now flourish in the North. Though, aye. We /were/ only acting in the ways we have been taught for so many years.." *Callax strokes the weasel's fur and meanders away*
PtahWithin 1320 Author Share Posted May 31, 2013 A response to the anonymous letter attached to the Grove message is added, To the anonymous responder, The matter of who has political control over the area the High Elves have asserted ownership of should have been a matter of diplomacy between the Sohaer and the High Council. Why did the Druids feel justified in taking matters into their own hands? The Druids, with all their wisdom and guidance, should have known better than to answer spite with spite, if there even was spite on the Mali'aheral side to begin with. You do not create peace by defying the opposite party, by aggravating them and attacking them with your magics. As for the departure of the Mali'aheral from our nation. We have no right to keep them under our control against their will. Hard as it may be for you to accept, Malin spoke that we must respect and tolerate the customs and cultures of other peoples. "Do not be so dismissive to the beliefs of another branch - both of you stem from the same trunk." He also said, "Let the wind carry you as a seed, all the while seek a place of your own to be rooted." We cannot force the Mali'aheral to think as we do, to even accept the words I have just drawn upon. It is their right given to them by Malin to believe as they will. The Druids do not seem to be seeking peace or even the protection of nature at this point: through their actions they have shown their vendetta for the beliefs the Mali'aheral have chosen for themselves. -Asthil Haumel, Event Coordinator of the Lower Council of Malinor
Swgrclan 2682 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Once the Druid had taken notice to the reply, he grunted in displeasure -- being a stubborn gentleman, he would make an effort at having the last word. As always. Again, another parchment was posted up at little time as a response; it reads the following:"Anthil Haumel, Once again, you misunderstand -- I will list the incorrections listed within your second statement. The observation that the Druids have "abused their magicks" is, in fact, not true. Not once have any of the Order used their abilities against the High-Elves and the worst thing committed was planting trees. Our intentions were to share a lesson, not to spite them. We Druii do not spite people, we share our wisdom. For whatever reason the High-Elves thought it appropriate to act no-better than savages and nearly killed five of us even before the worst in this whole situation had been done. Had they not severed the trees that were as old as the earth itself and shown abhorrent disrespect at the same time, I suppose things could have gone much more.. smoothly Had Malin himself seen such nonsensical behavior exhibited by the High-"Elves" then he would no-doubt.. "disapprove." We are not Magi who bend the fabrics of reality and lash out at those who step on plants; we offered a lesson, they failed it and they retaliated to a well-deserved consequence with unnecessary violence. Tell me - what are Elves if they break the rules they broke? All that would be left that could consider them "Elven" would be their pointed ears and use of our dialect. Elves do not live beside Malinor. Long-eared and pale decimaters and disrespectors of nature do." As it had been before, no signature was offered.
