Timmeh! 154 Share Posted June 1, 2013 It was a cold winters night, Mirtok lays in his bed with Allison asleep at his side. His eyes wander around the room as he is in deep thought, he turns to face her, staring at her as she sleeps, thinking to himself. He leans over and kisses her on the forehead, a light smile crosses her face, he then sighs, standing up and moving over to his personal chest. He slides it open, taking out the white plate armor and putting it on, then going back to retrieve a few personal items- a flask, pouch and a small bundle of books. After gearing up, he moves over to his desk and grabs the iconic warhammer that leans against his desk, sliding it into place on his back. He turns and walks towards the door before stopping and looking at back at his wife, he looks on with a stern expression before walking out without a word, only a single sealed letter resting on the chair in his wake. He descends down the many staircases that lead up to his quarters, taking in the fine masonry and architecture of his home, the capital of his Order and Nation. Mirtok continues on through the halls, past the many doorways and windows, finally reaching the War Room. He looks towards his right for a moment; the cool air drifts in from the front gate and the stairs twinkle bright from just over the walls. He gives the sight a nod, then advances through the archway and into a warmly lit hall. Around the room the many Sariants wait idly for his entrance and they perk up into a neat salute as he passes the many groups of soldiers- unique by their rank and colored gloves- and around the map of Anthos. The men all file behind him and take position around the map along side him, spreading around the entirety of the rails. The towering OrderMarschall Maur Azog approaches the group from the upper lounge, his colleague Eldak following suit. In his hands he cradles the Hochmeister’s helmet, in the other, a rucksack of assorted and unknown items. The fire crackles in the background of the silent room, only interrupted by the shifting of the many chain mail clad bodies. Mirtok gives each of his soldiers a slow, stern pan over; Looking at each of their many faces, all solemn in expression and awaiting his final words. Mirtok looks down at the replica board in the form of Anthos, then back around the room before speaking . . . “Welcome to Castle Grewynn, the last stand. You are about to begin the greatest moment of your life. The Blackmonts have lost hundreds of soldiers and armor. But August’s brutalized hordes are still advancing towards Greywnn over mountains of their own dead bodies. Our Order, our nation, our great country, has given us the task not to let the enemy reach the Tranqen and to defend the Castle of Grewynn. Forward against the enemy! Up into the unremitting battle comrades, for the Order and for our great country! Not one step back!” “Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of Blackmonts you have killed! Kill the Blackmonts! This is your mother's prayer! Kill the Blackmonts! This is the cry of your Hansetian earth! Do not waver! Do not let up! Kill!” “Death to the Blackmont invader!” The Sariants all shout in unison, throwing up their fists in defiance . . . “Death to the Blackmont invader!” Mirtok scans around the room once again, still bearing his stern glare. He waits for the men to quiet down before continuing . . . “We could very easily lose everything we know and love if we fail; But it not just Hanseti I speak of. The North is a real threat brothers and above all else . . . we must not let the mutant legions through! The Blackmonts do not understand what kind of damage they are inflicting on the entirety of the Empire and even the rest of Anthos- for if North Gate falls, nothing can stop what waits beyonds . . . *He pauses for a moment . . . “And that is why I must go . . .” *The rooms falls deathly silent as Mirtok accepts the Hochmeister’s helm from Maur and slinging the pack in place next to his Warhammer on his back. “I will return one day brothers and sisters, and with me I will bring us something that will aid us in this fight. Good luck in the coming war, you will be tested like the Order has never been before. Many of you will die, but remember, we live to serve and it is an honor to die alongside a loyal comrade. Remember everything I have taught you, carry this Order and this great nation into a new age in my absence . . . and . . . always look North.” *He slides the helmet carefully over his head, performs one final salute and walks out of the War Room; the dancing light from the fireplace whips back and forth on his exiting figure as he rounds the corner and disappears into the cool night air off towards North Gate. A few men await him at the heavy steel studded doors, all packed up and ready to move as he approaches. He gives them a silent nod and they all march out into the thick snow, Mirtok pulls a longsword out of the frozen ground and holds it steadily in hand . . . the North Gate closes behind them with a deep thud.

Timmeh! 154 Author Share Posted June 2, 2013 Allison awakes the next morning, her eyes bat open as she looks over to Mirtok's bed-side, not seeing him. She shrugs a bit, thinking that he must be out doing his work. Before long, Allison slides out of the bed, changing from her night-gown to her dress. She fixes up her hair and nods, heading towards the door but something catches her eye. The letter. She moves over to the chair, reaching down and grabbing the letter, seeing that it is addressed to herself she quickly rips it open and reads over it. As she reads over tears begin to form in her eyes, she moves back and sits on the edge of the bed, covering her mouth with her hand and shaking her head not believing it. She throws the note on the bed and runs out of the door running throughout the castle, she passes many Sariants whom who bow their heads to her. She keeps going through out the castle before running into the towering OrdenMarschall, Maur Azog. She looks up at him as he looks back at her and shakes his head"I'm sorry Allison..."Her eyes fill up more with tears as she makes her way to the north gate. She arrives before long and looks up to it, falling to her knees as a few tears run down her face"He's gone..."
