[Question] Souls-Stoning And Kidnapping.

Hello LOTC and Staff,

I would like to bring up the subject of Kidnapping and the "15 minutes will no rp, SS out" unofficial rule.

My main question is that, when kidnapping someone for ransom, or selling them as slaves, or other reasons, there is only so much RP that can happen with Kidnapping, in real-life, at the end of the day the person will just sit in a cell until they can either escape, or the Kidnappers decide what to do with them. Also, players won't always be on at the same time, as we are humans and we do sleep. So I would like to ask, if there would be a way to kidnapp that character, but then have a solution for the player.

I want to ask if it is ok to request that the player plays as a different character while the kidnapping happens. This way, that character, if they are a political figure, leader of a guild, Commander of an Army, is still kidnapped, but the player doesn't have boring roleplay simply sitting there. They can still go out an enjoy the world of Anthos, but on an alternate character.

If there are others solutions please let me know!

Thank you

I like the idea you proposed. Have one character RPly kidnapped but let them use alt chars to still roleplay around till something happens with the kidnap rp.

The best solution, in my opinion, would be to simply ask for the 'victim' to stay. If they enjoy the rp, and wish to continue it, they will agree. They don't have to leave after fifteen minutes, and players are free to negotiate and switch to alts.

If they don't enjoy the rp, trying to keep them there will just make things less enjoyable for all sides.

What I want to move away from more is that, "Oh, they kidnapped (For example) The Lord Commander? Let's just wait till they go to sleep then SS away." And things like that.

You can request that they do other things, like play alts, and do things like that. If they don't oblige, they are probably just looking for a reason to leave. Any there is no way to stop that, but, I mean, it's just poor sport.

While there is really nothing you can about people being poor sports, it's frowned upon.

I feel this has turned more into an idea thread, then a question. If you feel the same way, I can move it to ideas. If the question is complete, let me know. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

The rule is, you can not force someone to not have rp. If you lock someone in a cell and offer no rp to them, they are not forced to stay there and can soulstone out. The problem is not being captured then leaving when the others go to sleep, the problem is there is no one else around and the player wants to do something, but can't because there is no one there.

The best way to go, is by talking with the player in OOC and try to reach an agreement of any kind. Changing characters might be one alternative, yet some players only have one character.

Just don't kidnap someone unless you plan on providing consistent and exciting roleplay for a lengthy duration of time. I hate when people go out and start conflict like kidnapping or fighting, only to say ((btw i havce to go in 15 minutes)). Just don't do conflict rp unless you plan on being able to provide your victim with steady long term rp. Have a buyer already ready or something.

Because this thread has been open for so long without a reply, I'm going to close it.

If you want to re-open this, I highly suggest you re-open it in the ideas section!

Happy RPing! :ujelly:
