Ilikefooddude 430 Share Posted August 4, 2013 Rhinos The sand ridden wind of the Orcish Badlands blew hard on a day more humid than most. Thurak grunted, wiping beading sweat off his brow and onto his tattered loincloth as he trudged across the makeshift gravel-sandstone path to the docking area of the Braduk fort, more recently the location of his training field. Waiting for him was their new recruit, Khurn, eager-faced and ready for the challenges of the new day. Thurak shook his head at the enthusiasm as he guided the new Braduk down into the Rhino Cave, humouring himself that the boy would not feel so enthusiastic the day after the next. Once down the cracking steps that led to the entrance of the hidden cave, Thurak stepped inside and motioned for Khurn to do so as well, then chuckled as the wide eyed Uruk gaped at the sight before him. Several massive Braduk Rhinos mulled around the stone floor, most fighting for a spot around the cool water spring that flowed into a pool in one of the corners of the den. Their heads turned as Thurak approached, grunting and snarling in their unknowable language at the two Orcs braving their way towards them. For a while, Thurak stared back at them, his eyes meeting their own as he brushed the rough hide of each and every one of the massive animals. Once it had seemed Thurak had greeted all of the rhinos in the cave, Thurak beaconed for Khurn to come closer. “Diz am mah riyno, Ghalog,” He said as he patted a particularly large grey rhino at his side. “Lat wil zit in da kayv wif Ghalog til lat zmell liek Ghalog. Gug’ye.” At that, Thurak turned and exited, leaving the unsure grunt behind in the cave of the Braduk’s best trained rhinos, chuckling to himself and pondering how long the boy could stand the stench. Thurak thought he enjoyed the first lesson the most. ((Alright guys, I’ve finally gotten the time to write up this thread! The purpose, mainly, is to finally get an application out to be able to ride, control, and connect with a Braduk Rhino. There will be different stages, and with each stage a new application. Due to this, the applications will be fairly easy to fill out if the correct roleplay is done, and a series of screenshots is needed for each one of them. Most roleplay will need to be done with a guide, who acts as your teacher and is usually one of the Elders of the clan. Stage One- Acquaintance This is the first and probably most important application. By the time you’ve finished this stage, and progressed to the next, you will get to choose a Rhino of your own. Mostly, it involves, unfortunately, being acquainted of the smell of Rhinos, and smelling of Rhino yourself. This is mainly so your mount, when chosen, doesn’t identify you as a strange or perhaps dangerous scent and crush you on sight. It’s the shortest stage, and only requires one day (irl) to complete and move onto the next stage. Enjoy! Acquaintance Character’s name: Gender: Age: Race (Orc, Goblin, etc.): Stance in Braduk (Grunt, Elder, etc.): Guide: Screenshots of roleplay (At least two): Stage two- Choosing a Rhino In this stage, yes! You get to choose a Rhino! Most roleplay in this stage will involve the first contact between the un-bonded Rhino and the Orc, and the first mount, where you practically hold on for dear life and try to outlast your chosen beast. This takes two days to complete, and involves a LOT of roleplay, and is probably the most exciting of all the stages. Choosing a Rhino Character’s name: Rhino’s name: Rhino’s Gender: Rhino’s Age: Rhino’s Colour: Rhino’s Size: Guide: Screenshots of roleplay (At least three): Stage three- Bonding Here, you will be bonding with your Rhino. You will feed it, wash it, clean up after it, and ride with it, if you have the guts. For now, the Rhino is still wild and untamed, and extremely hard to control. Though he or she may not hurt you on purpose, an untrained Braduk Rhino is a danger to anyone and anything around it, at all times. This stage takes two days, and definitely involves interesting and tireless roleplay for your character. Bonding Character’s name: Rhino’s name: Bonding done (Cleaning pen, washing Rhino, etc.): Guide: Screenshots (At least three): Stage four- Training The final stage! After completing this stage, your rhino is completely rideable and controllable, though in battles the rhino usually panics due to the sight or smell of blood, and this cannot be trained out. The stage takes four days, as it is the most important, and contains the information you will need to properly roleplay with Braduk Rhinos without any chance of powergaming. ((Uhm, I dont think you could survive the trip to the Braduk fort, yet take it back to yo kingdom... So currently there are only about 6 live rhinos and 2 are fully grown, the 4 are very hidden guarded by orcs and in the middle of a desert in the Braduk fort. And, they haven't been used much in Anthos since the lore was just accepted so there wouldn't be any public knowledge among other races of their existence along with there are no wild ones, though if you want a more concrete answer wait till food responds))
Ilikefooddude 430 Author Share Posted August 7, 2013 ((Sorry about the long wait! Well, to answer your question, yes, it is possible, but i'd much rather it not happen. Firstly, the untrained rhinos become aggressive to pretty much anything that approaches it that isn't a rhino, hence why a critical part of rhino taming is familiarizing yourself with the smell. Taking a rhino would have to be done with force, and since they are kept in groups, it would need a large force to do so, having to destroy the whole Braduk clan to get to them anyway. Another problem one could face if they caught a Braduk rhino would be how hard it is to train. The techniques to bond with Braduk rhinos have been refined over hundreds of years to what they are now, and one would have to have complete knowledge of these techniques for the rhinos to be of any use. As for the size... Most have been bred up to size to fit an Orc. Those that are stunted, however, are usually killed on birth. The best way I would advise for someone to have a rhino would be to take one of the newborns, hope that it is stunted, and raise it separately. I might be able to arrange an event if all of these situations can be fulfilled, as long as I ask you a few questions and make sure you won't powergame, metagame and so on. If you have any further questions, feel free to message me in game or on the forums.
Caln McHarnish/porkchopp2 71 Share Posted August 10, 2013 ((Sounds fun, I might consider doing that. Also yim, Caln has seen a couple of Rhinoes before during a few raids, I just don't know if it was before the lore was accepted because I knew that problem occurred. Saw them in Esylium. Also, is it possible for there to be a wild rhino or do Bradduk's strictly have them all?))

Lvke 1000 Share Posted August 10, 2013 ((Going off what Craotor said, I believe that it could be a brilliant reason to explain why there are no rhinos elsewhere. The Lur wolves hunt down and kill those single rhinos that escape. Not a must, but a suggestion if one is needed.))
Ilikefooddude 430 Author Share Posted August 14, 2013 ((Mostly, I would think that the Braduk Rhinos are too well valued and protected to let them escape easily. Of course, incidences would occur, and here I think that Rocket's idea would fit perfectly in. The main reason why Braduk Rhinos aren't in the wild is that they aren't native to Anthos. The Rhinos were being bred about two maps back, and being used, though no lore was made or accepted for them. The Braduks made a separate ship to come to Anthos, specifically to carry the massive girth of their mounts, which landed somewhat east of the cloud temple. That caused most of the mounts to have to be culled for meat (Since there were large mountains barring their way), and the population dwindled even more. Now there are only three fully grown Braduk Rhinos left, and two undeveloped and un-bonded rhinos. An Edit: Perhaps an event can be arranged where a fully grown Braduk Rhino escapes and goes on a rampage? It would require a reasonably large group of Orcs to take it down, and I think it would be a great way to bring some more roleplay to the Orcish Badlands.

(( not fully beastmastery of the wolf rp but a small part)) A few problems with this, sorry. Firstly, you aren't a Braduk. Becoming a Braduk is easy enough, if you contact ilikefooddude or yimmya IC and ask to join the clan, you should get in straight away. Next, gaining a Rhino is usually done roleplay. This meaning, the leader of the clan, Thurak, invites you to own a Braduk Rhino. This post should be made /after/ such invitation, and the screenshots should be of the first roleplay with the Rhino, not of a seperate event. Thirdly, I highly doubt Farak would know about the Braduk Rhinos. They are uncommon and rarely seen outside of the Braduk fort, and very few non-Braduks know that any still exist, after the great Braduk massacre between the Ugluks, Lur and remaining Braudk clan. I suggest a lot more roleplay with members of Braduk before conscidering becoming one, and owning a Rhino, as it takes a lot of trust for Thurak to simply give out one, there being only two unbonded ones left in the whole of Anthos. In short, Denied. For now, anyway.
