((All of this was done in rp, and is as accurate as my memory of the event.

Thanks to ww2buff99 for playing the antag, helping with the post, and providing the music choice. The post is quite late, as these events happened a few weeks ago. ))

Dain walks near a gate, along with a few companions he found in Malinor, heading for the town of Vaerhaven. They pass through it, not a word being spoken, noticing a pair of people standing near it, one appears to be a Delver, the other a dwarf. Dain exchanges a look with the Delver and continues walking, not noticing that a few of them had stayed behind and struck up a conversation with the two. He turns back hesitantly, watching them speak, noticing the setting sun off in the distance. Suddenly a loud screech rips through the air, seeming to come from far off, in the direction they'd come from.

There is now silence again, as the sun continues setting, and the group moves to Vaerhaven for shelter, including the two that were next to the gate. Dain feels slightly uneasy around the Delver, believing their magics to be unnatural. He shouts a warning to the others about the coming night. "These creatures fear the sun... we need to find shelter before nightfall, or we may be caught outside by the beast". The group makes for the center of town, passing by Dain's tree on the way. He notes the lack of grass around it and makes a mental note to fix that later. When the group reaches the center of town, they shut the gates, hoping to keep out the creature while they form a plan of attack, and allow Dain to describe its appearance.

The sun is now entirely hidden by the night, the moon rising above them, casting an eery glow upon the place. One of the companions, Daeron, an elf, looks over to the closed gate, noticing a shadow of some sort lurking on the other side. He calls to the others, "Look, I think I see it!", but the creature runs off into the darkness. The rest of the night is uneventful, save discussions of the creature and its whereabouts, and one of the group, Captain Ame, being hit in the head  with a rock, thrown by the creature.

The next morning, they open the gates and take a look around, some staying back warily, others venturing out into the open, including Dain. He walks over to his tree, noticing blood on the ground. He calls over the group "Is someone missing? Anyone? We need to take a head count...". Nobody hears him, so he gets up and counts everyone himself. The Delver is missing. "Everyone, come over here and see this... there is a dead elf here... at least... I think it's an elf...". The group comes over and looks at the body of the elf, nobody recognizing it, but confirming it to be an elf.

While the group talks and debates about the origin and identity of the elf's body, they fail to notice that the sky, though still day, has grown darker with clouds. They continue conversing until Dain looks up, noticing that it had begun to snow. "Daeron... Trevor? It's snowing...". They all realize what this means, and raise their weapons warily, looking around the town's center, when they hear a cry from the dwarf they met next to the gate. "I saw him! Right there! I swear he was just here!" The group gathers, excepting Trevor, who stays in the clinic to help Captain Ame recover. The rest of the group climbed up the hill, onto the wall with the gate, to find two bodies laying there. One an elf, the other a halfling. They look around to each other, discussing theories on who they may be. Daeron mutters to Dain's left "The damned thing keeps killing innocents...", before sprouting an arrow in his chest. Dain turns, noticing and inspecting the wound, which had only gone an inch or two deep, through Daeron's armor. He withdraws a vial from his pouchand pours the contents in the wound, then cleans and bandages it, helping him to his feet. The group returns to the center of the town, seeing the first rays of daylight on the horizon. The second night has come and gone.

Throughout the next day it continues to snow, lightly. The creature seems to be playing it safe, staying mostly out of sight, but the group remains painfully aware of its presence. Dain walks into the clinic to check on Captain Ame and Trevor, and both appear fine, for the most part. Ame is still injured from the rock, but is much better. By the time night falls, Daeron's wound is partially healed, with the help from Dain's mixture, and the dwarf remains watchful for the creature. Trevor and Ame stay in the clinic again, though Daeron treads on through the pain for the remainder of the night. Dain drinks a mixture to keep his mind clear and reflexes sharp through the night, and waits with the group for some sign of the creature.

The dwarf calls out again, having spotted it, soon after. "Tis up there! Right at the top of the tower!". Dain climbs up the ladder on the inside, leaving Daeron and the dwarf below, having formed a small plan. He reaches the top, quietly walking behind the creature. It stands up on the wall, looking down at his two companions, as though planning something of his own. Dain aims a kick at its back, knocking it down to the floor below. It lands, seemingly unharmed, right next to his companions, one of which, the dwarf, chases the creature through the tower. Dain climbs down, noting that the snow had finally stopped on his way inside the tower.

The dwarf runs through the room, right at the doorway the creature fled through. He steps out, meeting a swing by the creature, barely missing him. Not only was it fast, but it was smart, laying in wait outside the door. The two exchange blows outside the tower, again on the wall. Daeron runs out the door, attacking the creature with his sword, as Dain reaches the bottom of the ladder. Daeron and the dwarf seem to be doing quite well against the creature, pushing it slightly back further and further, when suddenly it screeches loudly, forcing the group to their knees, then flings itself off of the tower, dropping a head of some noble figure behind. The group walks over to it, noticing that it bears a crown, and appears to be of nobility, but not recognizing it. An arrow flies out from the darkness at Dain, who sidesteps the arrow, grazing his arm. They look out into the darkness, and decide to take shelter in the tower, lest the creature decide to attack again.

The sun dawns on the third day, and the three leave the tower, and head down to the center of town. The ground is littered with the half-eaten corpses of the creature's victims, some fresh, some old. Vallel, the impure high elf that travelled here with them, walks over, having been off around town, unaware of many of the events that had occurred, and covers her face, suddenly nauseous. "I've seen... I've seen the bodies of the dead before... one or two I can handle... but this many...". Vallel vomits on the ground, as Dain and the rest wade through the bodies sadly. Dain heads over to the clinic, opening the doors to check on Trevor and Ame.

He walks into the clinic to see Captain Ame standing over Trevor, next to a broken window. He calls over Daeron and looks to Trevor, who lies motionless on the bed, a stab wound in his neck. He attempts to slow the bleeding and bandage the wound, knowing it is likely too late, but trying to save him regardless. His attempts fail, and he and Daeron have to inform the others of his passing. Trevor's death fresh in their mind, they wait and rest until nightfall. The day passes, and the group remains wary of the creature's presence in the dark areas around them.

There now remain but a few of the original group. Dain, Daeron, and Yedvric. Vallel and captain Ame are nowhere to be found. The Delver returns, to meet the questioning looks of the rest of the group. "What?" he says to the group, unaware of any of the creature's attacks. They inform him of the events, ask him his name, then watch for the creature. Dain has a sudden thought, and points out to Daeron and the Delver, Ceruberr, that it obviously has skills with ranged weapons, and that they are all standing out in the open, before he steps inside a nearby building for cover. An arrow flies right past his ear as he steps in the doorway, as if confirming his statement. Dain looks towards the source of the arrow, and fires a few shots at the creature, but they all hit the rooftop it hides behind.

Everyone takes cover, searching the area for the creature. Dain climbs up to the top of a building, running over the rooftops and searching for it there. He climbs around to where he saw it, but it had disappeared already. He looks over. The rest of the group is fighting it off, on the other side of the town's center. He runs across the rooftops around the other way, then slows to a halt, and quietly edges toward the creature, drawing his small dagger.

The creature charges Daeron, and attempts to stab him with his blade, seemingly made of ice. Ceruberr lets loose an arrow at the creature, but misses. Dain jumps at the creature, aiming to stab his dagger into the creature's neck, as it rams its sword through Daeron, too far into the strike to be stopped. The dagger pierces the creature's neck, and it unleashes an ear ripping screech, and falls to the ground, still alive, but weak. Ceruberr fires another arrow at the creature, again missing. Dain is glad none of the arrows have hit him, and reaches down for the creatures sword, trying to toss it aside, or use it to kill its owner. The creature slashes at his face with his claws, and Dain backs away, still getting some scratches across his face. He stabs at the creature's shoulder, as Ceruberr fires yet another arrow at it, this time hitting the creature, finally silencing it.

Dain picks up the creature's sword, looking over it curiously, then turning and looking across the town, noting that Vallel had returned. Out of the nine people who were there at the start, only three remained. The corpses the creature had laid out all over the town must have been those he hunted while away from the town, perhaps under the cover of the tree's shade. Ceruberr leaves Vallel and Dain alone. Vallel still apppears stunned by the bodies, and Dain ponders the losses. He brings Daeron and Trevor's bodies to the town's center, setting them with the rest of the dead, unsure of what to do next. The monks take away the bodies, and the ordeal is finally over, after many days of fear and death.

((This event was awesome! I was playing on me elf Daeron and ww2buff did an excellent job as the antag. I shot a few arrows into the beast which you seem to have left out. It doesn't matter as the event happened to long ago to remember exactly. Overall awesome post!))

((That must have been while I was off on the rooftops or on my own sometime, seems you had better luck then Ceruberr did, rolling low consistantly. Thanks :3))
