The Attempted Regicide

King William Horen stood across his royal court, on the other side stood two assassins, both of them fully clad in armour, with swords at the ready, one of them attempting to fool the King exclaiming "We came from Wintermont" the King seeing past his lie "Remind me then who is the Captain stationed in Wintermont" said the King, the other assassin quickly stepping forward "Sorry for my friends bullshit story, but let us cut to the chase" the assassin said.

"We are here to assassinate you" the assassin finally revealing their intentions, the King then looking unsurprised at their intentions raised an eyebrow "Who hired you" said the King, the assassins both telling him that they were acting independently with their own goals. The King then drawing his sword Triumph taking it in two hands raising it at them "Sons of whores" he said before they engaged in the fight.

The first assassin lunging at William with his blade at the ready, William lifting his own sword in defence, as the swords Clash William takes a hold of the first Assassin pushing him to the side stands in the royal court. The Second Assassin came at him, using great speed, he takes his blade cutting the King across his plate cutting into the armour and the flesh underneath, William let out a cry of pain that echo'd across the entire palace. William managed to respond with bringing the hilt of his sword smacking the second assassin across the face with the hard steel sending him to the floor.

The First Assassin once again brings himself up and once again lunges at the King attempting to sink his blade into the back of the King, William turning and ducking brings his sword across the torso of the First Assassin cutting into him, swiftly responding by sinking his sword once more into the shoulder of the First Assassin followed by bringing his foot against the body of the First Assassin pushing him off the sword.

The Second Assassin comes back after his brief moment of being put the ground by the warrior King and took a smaller knife crawling up behind the King, he sinks the knife into the Kings own shoulder piercing his plate, the echo'd scream of the King is heard even outside the palace with Knights finally taking notice to it. William manages to muster the strength to turn around taking his sword to the hip of the Second Assassin cutting across his torso wounding the fiend.

However with the wounds sustained the King eventually collapses to weak to continue on fighting, the two Assassins wounded themselves move to finish their work. Knights begin to pour into the throne room and the two Assassins take off before they could finish their deed, the Assassins barely escaping fighting one King had no strength to fight the new arrivals in the throne room. They escape the palace leaving the Knights to attend to the wounded monarch.

With the wounds sustained it would be some time before the King is ready to once again ready to rule he sleeps in his chambers guarded by knights day and night, the assassins having failed in their goal and missing their chance.

Katlyn hears news of the assault on her uncle. She quickly abandons her home and gardens to be by her uncle's side. She would be more than happy to play his nurse. She stays loyally by him, worried for his health.

O'er

the grandiose path, smooth-hewn stone inlaid with a girth that told

tales of the feat of past Horens, the two made their way over a palace

to be turned into a coliseum. The Palace of Abresi, a feat of manpower

and spatial creativity, a schiltrom of pillars and beams decorated to

make the dragon look admirable rather than feared. Within, stood King

William Horen III, oblivious as he sat within conversing with the

scholarly magi Archmage Crumena and Bayde; the Prince tarrying about

like a greenhorn and oblivious all the same. The Kingdom of Oren, the

head stood stoic aloft carpets spread as Sabel and Sertorius peeked

their head through out the spacious rooms; the library, the study, the

mess hall, the multiple rooms stood noiseless. What crept to their ears

as fast as their mind was the obvious, a King does love his throne.

Looking

through the throne room, the dragon standing engraved along the back

that which the throne would have the King sit in front of; the dragon

taunted them as they took in the view of many chandeliers and a throne

groomed for what sat a ruler of much land and had sat the emperor of the

continent. Slinking about, slipping their hands along the beams to

lower themselves along , Sabel and Sertorius neared themselves, blinking

to remove themselves from the greed that lapped it's lips across their

irises; the King was mere feet away. As the greed taunted them, the two

became arrogant, boisterous after their first success. King William

Horen III turned, his face smoothing into stone to hide any emotions as

Sabel and Sertorius walked closer; Bayde and Crumena flickering their

flames menacingly.

"At least, tell me that you've been paid", King William Horen III markedly acquired.

"Paid with Respect", Sabel, the simple villain craving the words to be spoken after the deed, barked back.

"I've good promise that people will fear, people will quiver, people will be lost like a chicken beheaded", Sertorius, the studied desperado points out.

At

that moment, Sertorius points an index finger straight at Bayde and

Crumena, stating "This is not for you Magi to participate in, you aren't

to be dabbling in politics", grinning mischievously as Prince

Alexander, the younger, stepped back; capitulating. Both Sabel and Cagan

withdraw their swords from scabbards, clashing blades to and fro

between King William Horen III, the former succeeding over the latter;

the King left wounded severely.

Meanwhile Riolan watches the entire debacle from his place within the Oren court. Remaining silent and motionless, he speaks up only as the assassins flee past him.

"What are you doing in Abresi? Visiting the markets?" KS9eTyB.png
