Here I Am Again, Trying Something New.

I have never played a combat orientated character, never RPed combat. I can safely say I know quite a bit about playing a combat-free character (or one with minimal PVP/combat)

Everywhere you RP there will be some form of challenge to fight, or a place where you want to fight back against something- regardless of race. The best way to avoid this kind of roleplay is to back down from the challenge, or create a character that will tremble in fear as they are robbed- don't become attached to MC items, you don't usually need them much when you don't roleplay combat, anyway.

I've played humans and elves, mostly females. Female humans can be entertaining to play if roleplayed correctly (if playing nobility, actually acting noble, etc.) but if you would prefer to roleplay a male, I recommend playing an elf. Elves can be great, there is a fair amount of roleplay in Malinor and there are many peaceful places and people to connect with- but like most races you will still find opportunities for combat roleplay.

If you would like any further help with this, feel feel to PM me, I would love to help ^-^

Gallmore is a peaceful island of all races.   Our RP is lighthearted and enjoyable without being trolly.  We have anti L-OOC  laws to keep the focus of our lil island on RP and not cliques just chatting about whatever call of battlefield game they have.

Two words.

"Dark Elf"

If you play the race right... they are one of the more serious types of elves, if you are into that kind of thing.

As AiiM said earlier, I highly recommend you come to Kralta. It's an awesome town in the Lands of Men which has an extremely active playerbase, really good builds, and really good roleplay in general. There is no peak time in Kralta because we have an equal amount of NA and EU players. I was recruited by Havenok a few weeks time ago as a semi-new player to LoC, the same as you, and my experience has been truly awesome. Kralta is not some "peasant hotspot" where all roleplayers are completely stupid, don't get me wrong. There are normal people there, but with an awesome medieval twist. We have land charters, we can swear to a lord, we can do all sorts of things. It's really awesome.

Onto your point about wishing to avoid player versus player conflict, it's really easy. Simply put: don't play a combat oriented character! As you said yourself in the OP, you joined a military organization really early on. If you want to avoid player versus player, don't join those type of things ;D. Simply play a woman who doesn't enjoy fighting, or a mage or a pacifist. It's really easy!

HALFLINGS

Made some corrections there too.   Make sure to check for mistakes.

p.s You asked for no pvp. Kralta has nothing on Lenfarthing, as we never even have any conflict unless it be a drunnken kerkuffle.

Just gonna put this here. Perhaps make a Kha'. They're unique, fun to role-play, and we really need more people. The only thing you'd have to do is get down the accent, some of the lore, and do the app, which isn't as bad as it looks. It only took me about 30 mins to hour on each one. On the accent, you get used to it pretty quick when roleplaying with other Kha'. And despite what some people think, we're not completely uptight on lore, and we don't freak if you're not 100% accurate. As long as you're not lore-destroying, we're good. So try it. I promise it'd be fun. :3

Personally? I'd suggest a HE(High Elf). They often go on adventures, so there's stuff to do, and there are many active and you could honestly stay up all day and night and there would still be people around(however they are most active around Aussie times, because half of their players are Aussies). Though there's the con of having to ask someone to let you in the gate. Which is where the Skype chat comes in(if you happen to have Skype) if nobody is around.

There's also a small application to be a citizen, but that doesn't mean you can't be in the city without one. You just can't have a house or do other citizenly things(voting, etc) without one. Thus the name. But if you are turned away by quirky and elitist characters, it wouldn't be the place for you.

There's just as well tons of magic, and I'm sure around half of them are mages. Ranging from water evocationers to lightning and illusion. So there's that too. However they have a few laws, and I suggest being/or over 50(which isn't much honestly) if you want any serious romance RP. And all in all, they are great RPers too. But sometimes their characters can be scary. Heh.

You'll find the Skype chat to be inviting and casual, though there are different times. Some serious, some where everyone is simply goofing off. That last time normally includes me. ;3 Don't be too excited to jump right in the Skype chat right away though. Normally they'll add someone once they have decided they are a decent person and all around will abide to the rules of the chat. Even certain impures and ones of other races(who are related to the HE, of course) are allowed in. But again, if you don't have Skype, that's fine. Don't worry about it too much.

Either way, I have some pretty good buds in there, and often the chat'll be onto new players at the gates pretty quickly. That is, they'll try to get someone over there as soon as they can once they notice the new player. But don't be expecting to be let in as soon as they see you.

(TL;DR:

~ High Elves are a good choice if you don't mind elitist characters. A lot of people hate us, but honestly we aren't bad people OOC.

~Our Skype chat is inviting, if you have Skype, and are likely to be accepted within it if you do. Just not instantly. Also often used to request to be let in the gate. Since not always will people be manning it. But new players often get noticed quickly.

~There's lots of magic and plenty of adventures, and they are mostly active during Aussie times, though can be seen during any other various times.

~Should be over 50 for romance RP.

~And there's a small, small app to get a house/vote etc. But isn't required to enter the city.

That is all. I am bad at TL;DRs.)

PS: Kha' also seem to be quite fun to RP. I've been dying to try one, just I don't have enough time. So if you think that the HE aren't good, possibly you might find ranks with the Kha'. But there you have it, my opinion. You can decide to be whatever you like. Happy RPing regardless. -Fire

I started a High Elf the other day, and i'm loving it so far. I adapted the backstory to make it so that she's more accepting of other races and judges people on their character and personality, not their race. She's also a bit of a rebel High Elf, having had her ear pierced (I read the law and I think that's frowned upon/HE's prefer necklaces and bracelets to piercings)

Her name is Celephia, be sure to say hi to her if you see her about :D

P.S All your responses have been incredible! I have definite idea now of what races are right for me and will be trying them out when i've had some fun with this elf first :)
