Dearest bidder, I do not know if the gem you speak of is valuable for its size, or hold some other value but I would like to see it for myself. I do not possess the funds needed to outbid what appears by the numerous "dozens" of letters peged to this board.

 

I do however have access to many books of knowledge. I don't study "Earth Evocation" myself but I know I have seen a very detailed tome about the subject among the other books in the library, perhaps one on other subjects that interest you as well? In either case I am almost certain the author still resides near here and perhaps I can do better than a simple book and arrange a meeting between the two of you so that you might discuss your interests.

 

I hope before you decide to sell the gem  you give me the chance to at least appraise it first. As I have had the pleasure of viewing many artifacts over my years and am always excited at the prospects of displaying something else in the library's collection.
