In 270 BC, I think the best way to represent the Maccabees is as a client state of the Ptolemies. It wasn't until ~170 BC that the revolt actually broke out, but civil wars were fought in Judea over which side was better (seleucids or ptolemies) far before that. So, you  may want to give me a small military and an alliance with the ptolemies to start. Obviously Judea is my only province.
