This thread's purpose is to consider the interest in having a Forum Roleplay in which you can pick from a large assortment of tribes, kingdoms, or other groups that existed at the time of the Roman Republic and early Empire and roleplay throughout Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. You will see to your civilization's growth diplomatically, economically, and militarily as you wage war across the landscape and expand your borders. Military battles will be interesting as we have certain members in LotC who have Rome: Total War and this will be the medium that battles be fought upon.

Military formations will be drawn up by the two forum roleplayers as well as commands preferred. They will send this to the moderator who has Rome:TW installed and play a multiplayer battle with the opposing side.

To give an example, let us suppose that Ski_king and Cruzazul are forum-RPing as Rome and Carthage~ neither of the two have Rome:TW. There will be mods such as I and others [Let us take AiiM for example] that will receive from Ski and Cruz their preferred military formations and commands. Example being that ski_king wants light infantry in the middle, heavy infantry flanking them and cavalry riding behind the infantry. AiiM and I will then simulate this battle on a multiplayer match and screenshot the results and whoever wins will win the battle in the Forum Roleplay theatre. Everything else such as economics and diplomacy is purely within the Forum Roleplay thread, only battles will be simulated via Rome: Total War.

This seems like it'll be fun, I'd like to be/claim Rome
((I say this because I see no application format.))
Also I like the Online PvP battles to determine who wins a fight, but wouldn't that really depend on how skillful who ever is playing for you or you yourself are?

Do you apply to be a country? Also. You may have spelled Macedon wrong.

Oh my gosh gaius yus. I cannot explain how much yes this is full of. And I have RTW. So..... DA!

I will roleplay as the Seleucids, because I like a challenge.

Or, even better, the Maccabeans. I will be the Maccabeans. If possible. They don't have a representation in RTW besides Judean Zealot rebel units...

So Seleucids if that's my only option.

The hard question, methinks, is how to keep track of all the units and resolve the battles. I can only think that we would fight it out in RTW multiplayer, but as to the keeping track of units, I feel as if we can only trust the players to keep track of their own.

Also. Could we have a date to start off as? That way we could say the ruler at the time is accurate as are the troops.

That is the reason that two generals will send the commands and formations they wish to envision to the person fighting the battle on Rome: Total War, mitigates the chance of 'skill' as we have to follow your orders/formations. If anything, I think one forum roleplay of this format does beautifully to test the FRP idea as a whole.

You may absolutely call dibs! I am keeping record, no worries and you are duly noted.

You may definitely RP as the Maccabeans actually. What will happen is that we are doing multiplayer battles, not one big ol hotseat campaign. The forum roleplayer will keep track of his armies in terms of how much light cav, heavy cav, skirmishers, archers, etc. and when he engages in a battle with another forum roleplayer- the player on Rome: TW will know what that army possesses and select it out in the multiplayer army-selection screen!

Also. Could we have a date to start off as? That way we could say the ruler at the time is accurate as are the troops.

270 BC to start, but we won't keep stringent time-keeping, so just know 270 BC to start!

YOU DO NOT have to be well-versed in history to play this forum roleplay, you don't have to know every minute detail. If you ever have a question due to your thirst to learn and/or boost variety in your forum roleplay, you can ask me questions via Skype @ ptolemaioi_hamza

Rome: Total War the original, let me state that you do NOT need Rome: Total War installed to participate in this forum roleplay however.

All 'faction dibs' are duly noted up to this point, remember that if you have knowledge of another 'faction' in this general time period that you wish to bring into the fray- please feel free!
