They don't use their own internet, you can't DoS anything using "Layer Four" attacks with your own internet. You could DoS someone if you had something such as 10MPBS+ upload speed and they had a lower download speed with your own internet using software you can easily find. What people were using to DDoS LoTC were Botnets and Stressers. Stressers are groups of servers which you can use to attack other servers, nothing goes through your own internet.

Doing that with Skype will not work. This is due to the fact people get your IP through Skype's servers. When you log on your IP is logged by Skype servers, resolvers get your IP through those servers and not through being your friend on skype or whatever else.

That's incorrect. Skype calls act in some ways like a peer-to-peer service by connecting the two (or more) clients to each other. Checking that option will stop people who aren't you contact calling you directly, instead routing it through Skype's servers. It may take longer to set up a call with someone who isn't a contact, but then you are not in a direct connection, preventing them from fishing your IP address using any number of various tools.

You can't simply 'get' someone's IP address from Skype's servers. That's now how it works.

I have a bit of an inquiry. Numerous times the staff has stated that your IP can be harvested off Skype due to some exploit due to direct calling. Yet if you are in a vast array of group chats, does that make you vulnerable to a possible DDoS?

Anyone can get your IP of Skype if you haven't set your privacy settings, they can also get it from a friend request using a 3 party program. Basically only have people you can trust on your skype contacts.... Like I only have the Admins and GMs now.

Watch out for unknown and malicious accounts posting links in the status bar on the forums too, better to be safe than sorry. We'll do our best to delete them before they cause any harm.
