  11. A STUDY INTO THE CULTURES OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF AAUN BY THE WORKS OF HER MAJESTY, QUEEN-CONSORT ELEANOR OF PROVINS; TABLE OF CONTENTS I. Introduction II. The Crownlands; or The Principality of Alstion III. The Principality of Merryweather IV. The Principality of Sedan V. The Duchy of Minitz VI. The Duchy of Adria VII. The March of Haute-Epine VIII. The March of Velen IX. The County of Hohengarten X. The Barony of Virdain XI. Conclusions PREFACE The United Kingdom of Aaun stands as the most diverse domain at present to exist alike to the Holy Orenian Empire of yore, yet the Petrine sought to consolidate their subjects’ cultures and triumph above them in termination of divergence. On the contrary this realm stimulates the blossoming of near extinct customs and maintains those stable. The vast lands of the state are populated by numerous people of contrasting heritages and it is not out of the ordinary to stand witness to bickering amongst themselves, yet their bond as visionaries of constitutionalism is incorruptible and furthermore they are united by virtue of legal rights. The identity is layered due to the cooperative character of society and diffusion of political, legal, and economical rights across the levels and locations of authority. It has been noted that language, clothing, values, customs, celebrations, cuisine and acclimatisation are the main points of any culture therefore this study mainly delves into those particular topics. Yet it is not achievable to describe the mass of people as one due to each differing from one another, so this is only, but a summary of what is seen as expected from the various entities of our country. In addition records of historical occurrences that are impactful to the cultures are to be also included to provide context and deeper insight. THE CROWNLANDS; OR THE PRINCIPALITY OF ALSTION The heart of Aaun extends north of the Borderpost Horen to the furthest reaches of the desolate Acre, yet advances no further than west of the River Petra. Many of the inhabitants are various commoners with exceptional craft or humble farmers, who sought to sate their families’ needs and demands. Behind the protection of the walled City of New Vienne wealthy broods have established themselves and have adhered to the melting of their customs and furthermore being influenced by the resurgence of the Johannian culture through the dynasty of Alstion. The mass of the populace are lesser bureaucrats in servitude to the government, ambitious by birth and masters in their spheres of expertise. Due to the amount of educated countrymen, many languages are uttered in the streets or behind doors ranging from Common to Flexio, in that scale being Auvergnat and Waldenian. The men and women adorn clothes made of the finest velvet and silk, yet it is unusual to spot more revealing clothes due to their pious nature. The higher class of Crownlanders are non violent and prefer to entertain debates and as last measure duels to uphold their honour. They are people of peace and not hardened warriors, far more gifted with the pen. Most of their celebrations are one of formality and importance, moreso ceremonial and of rare sight. They are noted to be indulgers of chatter in tandem with beverages and they are fond of busy establishments with overlapping voices and loud voices. The lands lack any established cuisine, yet traces of Savoyard dishes and in particular the duck have grown desired. The climate is temperate with balmy summers and harsh winters, autumns and springs as customary are transitioning periods with heavy rain. These lands were once the centre of the precursory Kingdom of Oren and The Holy Orenian Empire, before the Aster Revolution, the Brothers’ War and then the Acre Rebellion they were the richest territories of Almaris, yet due to the surprising amount of bloodshed and changes of rule they were brought to nothing. The brutal blow was the Sacking of Vienne preventing any restoration to the settlement. By the initiative of Iain Gromach many acres were sold through the Crownlands Estates and farmsteads were created resulting in slight stabilisation, which further progressed with the reforms of the Crown. THE PRINCIPALITY OF MERRYWEATHER The territories of Merryweather are the westernmost point of the Arentanian mountain range and are concurrently oriented towards the south, due to the aforementioned terrain the population is sparse, nonetheless masters in a wide variety of crafts or are able swordsmen. Many have experimented with growing crops and none have succeeded due to the harsher climate and rough elevations. Husbandry is somewhat more developed with the quantity of sheep being one of the highest throughout the realm. These territories are dependent on imports of wheat, corn, potatoes and other batches from other entities and in exchange they present luxurious furniture and clothes, woodworks and dairy. The most popular language is the Waldenian tongue and right after the Lechian as a consequence of the Jazloviecki restoration to their former seat of power. Many men are covered in armour on daily basis and even at formal appearances, on the other hand women have been noted to don humble and covering clothes. These people are one of the most GOD fearing and pious amongst the continent and avid defenders of the Church. Once the moon rises, they are to gather and socialise during dinner in small circles. Afterwards the women tend to the home and the children, but the men further with their chatter, the aforesaid is vital of their day. The cuisine of the Alstreims and Jazloviecki is renowned in distinct parts of the continent, the former corresponding to the culinary traditions of the Southern Aesterwalder regions with certain notes owing to their tenure in the tropical reaches of Sutica and Almarisian Savoy. Beef dishes with a side of potatoes and beets, usually sausages served with beer are common and where available, Sutican lemons and southern spices are added to enhance the meals. Yet the most staple are the Corwinsburg Merlot, Weisswurst and Whisperwood Cake. The latter’s fare is heavily based on soups and pastry, furthermore their enjoyment of cabbage is famed and their outstanding dishes are the Pierogi, which is the traditional dumpling with various fillings, and Goblaki, consisting of rice and meat wrapped in preboiled cabbage. The climate is harsh with strong winds and little rain pours over the regions, resulting in the dry grounds. The culture of Alstreim, as the oldest extant Waldenian dynasty, subscribes to most precepts of the Aesterwalder customs with noticeable sway of High Imperial and Renatian. They adhere to rigid social and familial laws, ancestral veneration, adoration of history and religious activity. The house has produced renowned knights and artisans due to their aptitude of craftsmanship and martial pursuits. Their tenure as monarchs of Sutica manifests in certain colourful and whimsical aesthetic and art which can be perceived throughout Merryweather. Oftentimes remembrances or anniversaries are held in honour of the past and its champion. The culture of Jazloviecki or otherwise known as Lechian favours the war, as juveniles are taught towards fighting stubbornness due to the past wherein many neighbours sought to raid and massacree their tribes. Legends and myths circulate of the Hussars, an elite cavalry unit famed for their ornate armour and wings made of eagle feathers. The more common people of peasantry were mostly occupied with farming, yet now with their relocation to the mountainous peaks they have resorted to other professions. As mentioned beforehand the Lechians are devoted to Canonism and often processions or masses are held in Warsovia. Their traditions vary with those of the other humans, one of the most fascinating is the Drowning of Marzanna, hay puppets resembling women are burnt or tossed in rivers as a symbol of the returning spring. The land that Corwinsburg now lays was once home to the Barons of Sedan, before they were exiled from the Petrine Empire for their revolt. For many decades the territories then stood unappropriated, yet once the Kingdom of Oren emerged from the ashes, and the Almarisian Savoy was dissolved, the dynasties of Alstreim and Jazloviecki were offered neighbouring regions. Yet the success of the Lechians was short with the Acre Rebellion occuring, wherein their castle was brought down and deserted after the Margrave of Grodno and former Royalists had joined together, yet an uninvited guest, who was the greatest enemy of the revolutionaries was permitted passage without the knowledge of those gathered. The information was relayed to the commanders of Acre and at half noon they were at the gates demanding the Lord Regent’s surrender. Fate was more kind to the once monarchs of Sutica, as they became one of the Harvest Lords. Upon the crisis caused by Wolfgang de Vilan or the Baron of Acre and de facto leader of the Confederacy, the Alstreims pushed their eternal allies of Alstion to the throne. Many years later the Jazloviecki surged and were restored to their home under Merryweather. THE PRINCIPALITY OF SEDAN The kin of Alstion have emerged as rulers of the westernmost acreage of Aaun, their holding being unreservedly encroached by even and flat meadowlands. They lack distinct language and utilise the Common tongue, yet it is noticeable in the commonry that there is differing accent. The clothes of the Joannes are of neutral tone, leaning towards muted ones. Oftentimes the men are adorned in their uniform, excluding times of festivities. The Sedanians are folk of war, being participants in most conflicts that have occurred throughout Almaris’ years, their structure is similar to that of the Orders of yore. Some claim that their military has a state, rather than the other way, the aforementioned is further supported by their unwritten law that requires any boy of the age of ten to enlist for training and service later. Many states have sought to employ the Goats or known otherwise as Kapriers to their cause, earning vast wealths for their treasury. One may consider that this leaves the Marnan scions with hardly any bureaucrats or statesmen, but that is untrue. They are furthermore famous for their regard towards the rule of law, and the writs that their blood has produced. Merriments are not distant to them as past courts have shown intricate systems and a wide variety of revelries. Unceasingly, the births of Joannes have been known to be celebrated, and more infrequently balls are held. There has not been developed cuisine as they sate their hunger with various dishes of distant origins. Yet, potatoes and meat are one of the most demanded goods of their citizenry. The climate is colder than that of the temperate and harsher winters are usual. The Ravensburgs have proved numerous times as leal vassals of Sedan, actively aiding in any endeavour that the Principality has to progress through or endure. They share close proximity by blood, being Marnans themselves. Furthermore much of their customs and values are identical or similar to that of the Joannes. Their keep acted as the southern bastion for Emperor Joseph I in the War of the Two Emperors, and later as place of hiding for Alexander II. The Bolivars are an olden family of Santegian origins, resurfacing a couple years ago. The apex of the house was the Suffonian Rebellion and laters the aforementioned’s rise. Their brewery has been one of prominence, including but not permitted to Sangrias, Katdaddy Bourbon and Santegian Ale. The contemporary territories of Sedan stood as wild lands for the majority of Almaris’ existence, till they were settled by the de Joannes decades ago. The city known as Johannesport saw minor successes, before descending slowly into utter chaos. Many men and women deserting as a matter of unpopular decisions by the leaders and disunity amongst each other. Resulting in the past Prince departing to the courts of Petra residing there to this day, in the corresponding time his older brother sought to reclaim his birthright and vassalised under Aaun, ensuing in the return of his people’s home. THE DUCHY OF MINITZ The domain of the Reinmaren is the most populated of the realm, fixated on the crossroads of the continent. In the north there are the dense forests, towards the east lay golden fields of wheat and the other directions are guarded by the segregating River Petra. Their tongue is the Waldenian due to them being a divergent group of the aforementioned. Many of the tribesmen are astonishing warriors or raiders, as the horses in their culture are seen as almost equivalent to the human beings. For the reason of the fertile grounds, water access and prime spot, the number of professions is absurd, ranging from farmers to fishermen, resulting in the community being in a state that requires no imports. Clothes and jewellery are of miniscule importance to the inhabitants, often dressed in labour garments without any unnecessary detail. There is no pride lurking as each and every of the folk are equal to one another, valuing many talents and expertises. They acknowledge no titles or men of vast wealth, but those with pure hearts and bright minds. The way one conducts themself and his competence is favoured rather than birthright. Honour plays a huge role in their society, every individual’s word is taken up highly, however those notwithstanding theirs are seen as criminals and undergo a process of punishment and persecution by their own peers. Their culture is more militaristic and focused on the raising of hardened warriors. Celebrations are not seen as formalities, but times that beverages are distributed and they are consumed for the health and good-being of the host, wherein the men are to indulge in chatter between one another after a long day of exertion. Infrequently tourneys are held for distinction and merit. The cuisine consists of freshly caught fish, vegetables and sometimes meat with bread. More popular dishes are the Entree, moniker of oxtail stew, and the Black Forest Cake, made of cherries and whip cream. The weather is of temperature nature, one of the most balanced throughout Almaris, offering perfect conditions for any endeavours. The position of Minitz has been deemed of importance by any vassalage or nation, due to being a major roadway. Many manors and castles have been erected by the Imperialists and Royalists of Oren, some examples being Cathalon, Rivia, Draskovic and Darkwood. Yet, all of those have only left traces of their ruin whilst the Barclay domain has only endured and grown. The region has suffered much bloodshed, principally in the Sedanian Rebellion against the Petrine Empire, many bodies finding their resting place there. THE DUCHY OF ADRIA The lands of meritocracy and wealth lay north of the Bordepost Horen on the southern edges of Aaun, surrounded on each side by dense forest grounds and the neighbouring colossal ruins of Haverlock. The men and women of Adria have been occupied with various crafts, examples being swordsmen, farmers, medics, merchants and even a growing number of alchemists. Many of the prime professions have found guilds in ensuring superior publicity and pay. The trading of the Dumacracy is prominent throughout the continent due to the immense amounts of imports and exports. Through many decades of displacement and tribulation, the term Adrian no longer defines culture, moreso melting pot of varying customs. Yet, the most popular tongue is Raev, trailing behind being Illatian. The garbs adorned by the folk vary by large means, there is intermix of colourful and muted clothes, inordinate amount of accessories or lack of. What unites those people is their defence of liberty and rule of law in conjunction with love towards the arts and gold. Being advocates of the aforementioned, they are the only vassals in our state that are stewarded by feudal lord and an elected individual, by the common people. Periodically entertainments are held sponsored by the Duke or occasions arise. The climate is considerably warm with exceptions in the winter with periods of mild snow and freezing cold. The last remnants of the Illatians such as the Bracchi, Montelliani and Varochi have been fervent supporters of Adria for centuries, whether against the Sarkozics or with them. They are embracers of the worldly, oftentimes adorned in jewellery and luxurious clothes. Similar to the Auvergnats, their hygiene is vital in tandem with appearance. On the other hand, they are people of the sciences and good manners, never committing to barbaric measures. The folk of Ivanovich have stood as fighters of the Duchy for decades now, not resulting in surprise to any. It is common knowledge of the martial renown that GOD has bestowed upon the same men, or perchance an extreme tradition of raising their offsprings. Another prominent characteristic is that of their bastardly line, as many previous patriarchs have had disregard to the sacred union between two individuals and sired children from different and many women. The budding family of Euler have become celebrated for their mastery in cuisine and assistance in the growth of Velec. Many dynasties pass on heirlooms and on the other hand they document and recreate their ancestors’ recipes. Due to the current generation’s grandmother being a meat chef, many of them include generous amounts of protein. The grounds of Adria prior to Haverlock have not been settled due to being an entrance to the centralised Petrine Empire, after the settling of the de Joannes and their brisk eviction mere months later the walls crumbled leaving only the ruins as historical grounds. Many years later the good Heinrik was appropriated these lands, beginning humbly with a dozen tents and now extending his authority over the walled city. THE MARCH OF HAUTE-EPINE The territories of the Auvergnat diaspora are found at the most central point of Arentania towards the east opposite the ruined Felder’s Rock. Their liege hails from the centenarian dynasty of Rosius, one of the only remaining houses of their culture. Accordingly the commoners of Haute-Epine are of the same tongue, as they have long sought an established entity of their heritage. There are many aspects that the aforementioned residents pursue ranging from swordsmen to clerics, resulting in the wide variety of professions. The Auvergnat are people of pride and utmost respect, they are believers of treating each and every with kindness, furthermore it is instilled upon them at an early age to relish life through ups and downs. The men and women don colourful attire, one that catches the eye. Maintenance of their appearance and hygiene are fundamental to any of them, preferring clean and shaven faces owing to the ideals of mannerism. Many lords or officials frequnt upon the lower classes as the Auvergnians are communal and outgoing people. Celebrations consist of carnivals and feasts, they are not shy and are noted for their fondness of wines, sometimes overstepping the barrier of normal consumption. Men indulge in wine tasting as means of competition and proof of dominance or winning the heart of any lady. In the mornings their hunger is sated by fruits or wheat products and by the evening preferably meat, poultry or fish. Stews are rarely consumed, unless at festivities or inside taverns. The climate is warmer than the other Arentanian entities of Aaun permitting the growth of vineyards or other more not needy crops or plants. The most recent emerging lower noble entity is the County of Pacidia, once a constituent household of the Archduchy. They share blood with the Rosius, but much of their culture has been infused by the Petran, resulting in slow divergence towards more simplistic customs and values. The Abbassians honour any knight and are fond of chivalry ideals. Furthermore their lands are among the few that magic is practised freely and encouraged to some extent. The lands were unsettled prior to the Keens being awarded land and title by the Emperor, they erected a formidable marble castle which stood for years. Afterwards the members slowly vanished or met death resulting in the demise of the family and an end to their keep. Many decades later upon the foundation of Aaun, the aforementioned hill was given to the Rosius to establish fortifications on the Arentanian Alps. Recently the distant cousin of the current Margrave has joined him and has been enfeoffed. THE MARCH OF VELEN The Aschenwald or previously known as Ebonwood is the jurisdiction of the Margraves of Velen, the lands are the most central point of Almaris, yet the most northern extension of Aaun. The populace mainly earns its nutrition by woodwork and carving, houndmastery and hunting. Due to the immense forest grounds there is an absurd amount of prey ranging from rabbits to deer. Their culture is divergent from the Waldenian and known as Aschenwalder, the tongue mimicking that of the prior. The folk don modest coverings and clothes of more muted colours. This is owing to their main tenets of honour and virtue which are ingrained at juvenile age. Many customs and values are influenced by the Lucienists due to the house’s foundation in the fifteenth century. The name day of any Reuss so far has been celebrated with the highest of regards, wherein no riches are preserved and dishes of remote origins are presented. Their cuisine consists of mostly meat, delivered by their hunters, with a variety of vegetables, but mostly potatoes and carrots. The weather is moderate with casual rains, yet no wind whatsoever due to the trees acting as barriers. The petty nobles of Velen are the Barony of Alsace and Arentania, the prior being associated with Norland preliminary to the Third Crusade and afterwards their ancestors’ devoutness to the Order of Saint Lucien and the Marnan Freikorps by the name of Ragnarsson, on the other hand the latter is a newer household born by the union of a commoner man and an Alstreim. They have absorbed the culture on their maternal side majorly with notes of the Bardenwigs’ influence. The lands were previously inhabited by the elves of the Pale, their occupation being barely documented and so little is known. Those after were the scions of Melphestaus, populating the territories to insane heights resulting in the tree grounds carrying the name of Ebonwood as they were privileged to name it. As the Emperor Philip III rose to the throne their settlement slowly began to decline and was deserted by the beginning of the Brothers’ War. Thereafter the territories stood unpropertied till the emergence of the Reuss, who burned the old forest and replanted it as a symbol of the rebirth. THE COUNTY OF HOHENGARTEN The land of the Augusten is one of the more secluded castles of our realm, located on one of the most western peaks by the central Arentanian elevations. The manor is one of the last surviving of Petrine architecture and it was never meant to cater dozens neither permitting the establishment of any hamlet. Accordingly the inhabitants are reduced to the liege and his relatives with their servants and aides, many of the kin are employed by various institutions of the Crown resulting in the family’s renown of servitude for their short tenure. They are people of utmost higher etiquette and decorum with careful educations and wardships. The tongue is Waldenian adopted through their heritage from the Bishops, yet there is a slight accent that may be captured by closer inspection. They are wearers of gowns and more formal clothing for the men, oftentimes the women are adorned in jewels. Hohengarten is noted for its hospitality and warm welcome to any individual of whatsoever rank, acting as home to those rejected of their prior. Upon entering the grounds, the shrine of Saint Michael is evident, as he is the patron of passion, exiles and service. Resembling the fundamental principles of the Augusten in three words. They are carousers by birth and do not stray away from public happenings. Ordinarily they host guests for some sort of celebration with the slightest reason. Their fare includes venison, different types of cheeses, and a wide variety of fruits. The climate is slightly warmer than that of neighbouring Merryweather. The manor was constructed decades prior to the foundation of the United Kingdom of Aaun in the Imperial times by then the Duke of Azor. He was an avid gardener, transforming the yards into flush flora. Little is documented or known afterwards until the Acre Rebellion in which the estate was deserted and later resettled by the von Augustens through their enfeoffment by the Crown. THE BARONY OF VIRDAIN The newest addendum to Aaun and resurgence of Savoyard heritage in recent summers. They have been fixated to a tract of land, southwest of the New Vienne. Construction of their manor is undergoing a process, closing the needed development with each day. As expected their preferred tongue is the Auvergnat. Many have noted the fashion of the Lewes’ siblings, quoting to be one of luxury and extravagance, consisting of a more colourful palette and many pieces of jewellery. The menage is one of ambitious and driving nature, eager to mould themselves towards connections and renown, their folk is one of much festivity and publicity. Yet, their education stands firm and in times of mannerism, the aforesaid is provided. Their cuisine consists of the profound duck made in Savoyard way with notes of Sutican spices and refreshments, furthermore vegetables and fruits are adorned at their table. The men and women have been used to the tropical degrees and are adjusting to the tad colder parts of central Almaris. CONCLUSIONS After penning my knowledge and thoughts into this document I have further realised the cultural wealth of this realm. Many tongues being spoken from varying continents and origins, concurrently numerous traditions and customs being practised with opposing instilled values. One may wonder how unity can be achieved in the aforementioned difference, to which none senses an answer to the question. The future unfolds right before our eyes and by every day we acquaint ourselves more with the worldly sins and betrayals. To predict the future of Aaun is an unachievable charge for any scholar or learned man for the concept of constitutionalism is contemporary to the humans and we have only seen traces or notes of the beforehand mentioned in our administrations. Perchance leading to changes in the societies we are familiar with, ones where merit and wealth surmount birthright and titles as normal occasion rather than one out of ordinary. There stands the other option, wherein these ideals are proven wrong and the foundations we are erecting today are to crumble in decades, earlier than these political thoughts can be cemented.

  13. i think adding on more options and choices on how to gain/lose minas is preferable, because by concept inflation always exists in LOTC with even only the voting system, it's just matter of time and the prizes that are offered. i'm all in for as much more ways to gain minas, and vice versa to use them for new mechanics.

  24. a good question i don't feel like i want to say one character, because all of them have something unique tied to them with numerous fun moments, and not so. for example valent de rosius, my first persona, everything felt real and fun, but every noob goes through that period. carolina of savoy, was fun, tried developing more characters and having lots of negative traits. also eleanor is fun character, zealous, strict in tradition and conservative, so yeah. can't name only one. ^ you want me to say you, do you ok, doubt i'm going to able to rank them actually, and regarding character moments, whenever i can show off my persona's personality and its own thinking and deliberation to other players. mby the coronation on eleanor, felt like the work we've ben putting into aaun as project has paid of. that's the most recent one i can think of, or when eleanor went lemon-picking with one of her ladies and grandchildren. obv, love the workers have seized the means of production, your majesty prob "never have i ever" or "sex education" (those are marked as sitcoms), and from my childhood "gumball" and "gravity falls" i have had some people that inspired me, beginning off with sortedjarhead & Asutto, then moving forward to axeluu, i can't rly think anybody inspires me that much nowadays, more so i'm astonished by their work or talents. i'm a boy, i've played male personas and i believe some of next ones are going to be again i feel like good, with lots of ups and downs, still having such. i have committed so many mistakes or done wrong decisions, but after all i've tried to be always good, and that's it. i've learnt to write and speak way better in english, began learning legalese. learnt lots of stuff regarding medieval times, and how the bureaucracy of one such entity operates. stuff ab titles, which i would never have had guessed that i would comprehend. i'm not sure what do you mean in precise by general outlook on the politics tbh. i would say the time i've been on here, i've learnt to be more patient and realised that this is just a fantasy world, not your life. also lots of people with different personalities and traits. Present, of course Aaun, because we are building something that is ours, we are not an extension or new version of past ideas and thoughts, but we are the ones laying the bricks it is my favourite nation to exist and have existed, maybe because i've gave good counsel which is constituent of my vision of great nation. I also feel like before leaving the server, I want to try being NL, for the sake of it, everything has to be tried. So my rule, i'd think i would do my best to further develop and build over the previous nls' work, i think i'm going to be more of the statesman NL, not rly the war guy or huge shockwaving decisions. I would love to be NL of Savoy, the nation's culture and traits are prob one of my favourite. Hmm, not sure depends on the genre, but here's a few. Moeto Slabo Myasto - Preslava ; Pochivni dni - Krisko ; Maskarad - MBT ; Pozdrav - Trap19 Connection we haven't ever like had arguments ab anything lotc related, bcuz that's purely dumb, and our friendship is far from it, i value your aid in helping me grow on lotc.
