Crafting Competiton! Prize: Golemancy
Beholder replied to Beholder's topic in Grand Kingdom of Urguan

Good day my fellow Dwed. I am Briga, former clan leader of Irongut, among other things. Many of you might not know me, but I was a prominent smith in Urguan once. After a decades-long absence I don’t care to explain, I’ve returned and am looking for promising Dwarves to teach the art of Golemancy. I struggled for a time to find a fair way to pick students, but a young Dwedlass gave me the idea to hold a crafting competition amongst our kin. For the next four stone days, all Dwed are welcome to submit their items for judgment, with the creator of the three best items earning the opportunity to learn the obscure art of Golemancy from myself. And why not, 100 mina as well. After the competition has concluded, I will conduct a brief interview with the victors. Unless there are any glaring issues or conflicts of interest, they will become my students. - Briga Irongut Requirements Only Dwarves may participate in the competition. That’s it. Submissions Entrants are not limited by medium or material, anything may be submitted. That said, they will not be judged by how impressive or rare their craft is, but on quality. Enchantments and other magical items do not qualify- the submissions should reflect the talent of the crafter instead of magical prowess.

Hah, well I feel like I'm a bit too out of practice to start making cool things immediately. I feel like what I probably want to do is have Briga on standby - maybe she went insane delving too deep into her own craft and is living as a homeless beggar, that seems like something she'd do. I need to reacquaint myself with the lore and everything before I do anything else, so I'll probably create a new character to play around with. I'll have to look into the god thing I guess, that sounds like somewhat newsworthy hahha

Heyo! Aw man, should I bring Briga back? I don't even know how many years it's been since she's been around hahah

Hey fellas, not sure if anyone remembers me, but I've been getting a bit of the mcrp itch of late, might be making a return in a little bit. How've things been? I miss anything fun?

Briga loves this so much she drops what she's doing and writes to her friend immediately.

Briga reels from the confusing vision as it assaults her mind, though she manages to not have an epileptic fit. It was far more... abstract than the last vision, but the meaning was clear at least. The Dwed straightened resolutely. She'd contact the others soon enough. She then promptly doubled over and vomited on her boots.

Been doing mcrp since 2011 and this is the first time I've heard of this. Should I be Diggy diggy hole.

Dang, news to me, but thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and used the malware detection tool and it looks like I'm clear, so the files I linked are clear as well. Thanks again!

First I've heard that there was a curseforge virus. But if you're worried about that, you can avoid curseforge with the .zip I linked.

So during the wait for the map to transition to 1.18.2 I spent a lot of time looking through mods. A good deal of the mods I installed are for optimization, since I use a middle-of-the-road laptop to play. So after giving the mod list I use to other people and getting positive reactions, I thought it might be helpful to share it. A few things to note: All of these mods are client-side. This modpack uses Forge and is a collection of 24 separate mods, including dependencies. The version of Minecraft is 1.18.2, version 40.2.1 of Forge, downloadable here. The modpack is NOT compatible with Optifine and replaces it with Rubidium, a port of a Fabric mod called Sodium. You can still run shaders (with the help of another mod), but some features like custom mob entities do not work. If you want to use Optifine instead, you need to remove the following mods: Rubidium Rubidium Extras TexTrue's Rubidium Options Rubidium Dynamic Lights Here are the mods included: Also, if it helps, here are my JVM Arguments for the minecraft launcher that I use: -Xmx4G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M You can download all the mods at once here: BeholderModpack.zip One last thing...

"Dinnae talk aboot t'ings ye 'ave ne inkling o', an' don' accuse me o' stealin' from meh clan. Ah wos th' one who gave Irongut back th' relics lost after Falk vanished." "An', well... ah did try tae improve Urguan, no' meh fault Agnar wos no' impeached when we tried th' first toime." "Regar'less, rather t'en insult meh character mibbie ye shuid defend why votin' fer Garedyn es such a bad thing. We both loike tae complain sae ye mus' 'ave a lo' tae say aboot th' onleh Dwed who gives a rat's arse aboot Urguan an' 'as worked tirelessly tae try an' keep et afloat." -

"Wot, abstain from votin'? Feck tha', ahm votin' fer Garedyn." -
"BAHAHAHAH!" Came the raucous laughter of a Dwarf who read the propaganda. Still though, it was very Dwarven to blame any other race but themselves for their own issues. Perhaps the Shadow Government of Elves was running things behind the scenes?

"If ye don' vote fer Garedyn yer a feckin' eejit." Briga said resolutely.

While Briga found the fallen hold an interesting historical location, she had no desire to actually stay there for any great length of time... If some of her fellow Dwed wanted to make something of the isolated settlement, she wouldn't keep them from staying if they really wanted to.

Name: Briga Irongut Desired Moniker: Lady-Magister Age: 81 Date you wish to compete: Today! What are you wishing to compete for: Lady-Magister, I seek to leave behind my country of origin for one that focusses more on magic and magical theory, so that I may have the resources needed to further my studies. Justification: A country devoted to magic is something I've dreamed of since I was but a Beardling, and as I've grown as a Mage the desire to be a part of such a body has not waned. I am a master of many magics, perhaps the most talented Mage among my race, with an interest in magical theory and body augmentations to further my craft. I consider myself an enchanter primarily, and I believe that were I able to achieve nobility among this burgeoning kingdom I would be able to utilize the resources afforded me to enhance the my craft and that of my fellow Magi.

"Ah 'Call fer Unity' tha' dictates th' separation o' Church an' State. Hm." "Wot's this shit aboot dissolvin' grudges? Is 'e goan tae get rid o' th' book? Ah dinnae think tha' will go o'er well..."
-
"This Kingdom es a joke. Why did thay even bother 'aving a trial?" Briga groused upon hearing the news while in seclusion.
-
Briga ignores all the passive aggressive comments made by people with nothing of substance to say and just hopes the best for her friend and his new project, knowing that bashing the only Dwarf who works tirelessly for their community accomplishes nothing.
