War raised many nations out of the Great Depression in real life. Money from the government going to blacksmiths, tanners, and soldiers (factories, manufacturers, GI's) could greatly benefit the economy. Since we're already trying to go for the 'realism' we might as well go for what actually worked in real life.

That's a valid point, therefore I believe it would be wise to make it minas and not gold blocks. Minas can be distributed much easier and CAN actually help the economy. How to get the minas? Sell your gold blocks.

The problem with that system is because those gold blocks and iron blocks do not go ANYWHERE. They vanish completely from what is inferred and do not contribute to anything. We're going to end up with a screwed up economy again if we have stacks of blocks vanishing. If there is war, the gm's should distribute gold ingots to the soldiers to promote a stable economy.

What free land? Either you're talking about the Wilds, which obviously is going to be torn up for resources. Every thing else is permissioned and there is no way to get supplies and ores. The nations have the only mines and they wont open up to every day players to get a start. There is a reason players do not want to join nations, it is RP. Roleplay has driven them away from the calling of nations, and these out of character necessities are causing a lot of OOC tension.

The reason it was essentially removed was because in one battle between the Dwarves and the Teutonic Order, Hochmeister Mirtok set off a chain of explosives underground that decimated the entire Dwarven force. Raging ensued and lore was messed with, In the end, RP was voided and gunpowder/cannons pronounced non-existent by the staff. One bad battle ended up ruining it for everyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1BLdunMgPQ I laughed my ass off when it happened in the video and the battle. Those were legitly set and they fell for the trap and I don't think it is reason for its removal.
