During Anthos he has spent his time working as an explorer and scholar dedicating much of his time to understanding and preparing for the scourge of the north, leading the first two ventures into the farthest parts of the north, though in both cases the teams suffered heavy losses and only he and a few others survived. For around 10 years he assisted in running the Ministry of Contemplation, though little happened and the ministry was finally disbanded. For the last 5 years he has spent his time watching and recording the events of the world, content to stay un-involved till his help is required.
  8. *Tenshar examines the applications stopping when he sees the ages on a few of them* "If I remember my Elven history and lore those ages would make them children still...or teenagers...Hmm. I"ll let Lee know we have more applicants but the age may be an issue." *Heads off back to the R&D labs looking for LEE*
  9. *Tenshar continues his work on the Research lab, stopping every so often to speak to passerby's who inquire about it* ((I am still waiting for contact from a number of part 2 applicants. If you are unable to see me ig just by finding me then feel free to pm me on the forums))
  10. Interesting. I would say no to the weapons but I'm good with the ship. The Dwarves have a monopoly because IC it fits them and really does not suit any other race/group. I mean the only reason Alras tried to build one was simply to try, and I still carry IC wise the blueprints and other test results from Alras's attempt to make one before we were shut down by Native who said they would never be allowed. And yet I have never went and built one because meh, I prefer galleons and other big 5 masted sailing ships. As for the weapons, can't say I would approve of it. Cannons were already outlawed because of the abuse by other nations, can only see the same happening and besides don't think we could create enough steam power to fire a projectile or such. At least with current designs of the dwarves and others. Now, if your simply updating your ballista and such to a more efficient form I suppose so, but nothing too serious.
  11. ((As a reminder, if your on and want to do your interview simply /seen kanrath to make sure I'm on and then /msg me and I'll jump over to the CT library to do it.)) *Tenshar reads over the list of members as he continues to work on the lab* "Well things seem to be picking up, that's good. Now just need to finish the library and add some more sleeping quarters"
  12. *A reply is posted shortly* "Greetings Mr. Rosen" "Should you have the time you are welcome to speak to me at the Research Lab down the road from the Cloud Temple past the first stone bridge. We do not hold back information from those outside the guild and should you be seeking something within one of the departments I or the Savant of that department can grant you access. My only request is you give some detail into what you are seeking when we speak."
  13. Another announcement for all members. A lab and library is currently undergoing construction right next to the main road a short ways outside of cloud temple past the first bridge. The reason for this new structure is to have a place where the people of Anthos can see and visit us easily and to give all members a place to meet and work. The old work area construction was shut down due to recent plan changes and as it was so off the road this new change will greatly help garner interest in the ministry I hope. Mind you the new structure was a sudden idea that I had and as such is a work in progress, no planning or such before hand. Thus it may not be as grand as the prior plans we had, but will hopefully fit our needs somewhat more effectively for the time. For access once it finished or to help build contact me via bird (Either ig if I'm online or pm me with an RP note)
  14. Greetings. I am Savant Tenshar Karkun and I post this to all applicants waiting to speak to the Pre Eminant Savant. Due to his busy schedule I have been given the ability to handle part two of applications. I will start going through the list and contacting people as they are listed. Anyone who wishes to hold their meeting may also contact me by messenger or by aviary. I Wander a lot so meetings need not be only held at the library. Sei Yvasa, your application has been reviewed and approved, please contact me with a time when you would wish to speak or I can try to contact you at some point soon. Elandorr Staghorn your application has been reviewed and approved. Please contact me with a time when you would wish to speak or I can try to contact you at some point soon. (Ptah has been busy rl so I'll be handling apps to the best of my ability. Many of you have been waiting a while I know and for that I am sorry. If you wish to speak to me IC for the second part of the app proccess simply send a forum PM with a time, date and place and I will do my best to be there. I'm est but on at all times of the day, so I can likely make even meetings at 2-7am est if such is needed. I'll be going through the list of accepted apps as well and looking for you if your online in game and talking to you ig to confirm if your still interested or not. This is unless I have received a meeting request by pm in which case interest is assumed.)
  15. *Suddenly remembers something and returns, adding a note to the first note* "And yes, I still do the same work I did in Alras and Holm if such work is needed" ((to explain away the double post)
  16. *Tenshar reads the notice and nods slightly* "Glad to see the company is still in some type of working order since I wandered into the north for a few years....may have to send word and see how things go. Always good to have a crew of skilled sailors around and I know they tend to need engineers for their boats and such...And for...other things..."
  17. I already have spider silk taken from a giant spider queen, which I have been in RP looking for someone to weave for me. I like this idea, and would simply think that wearing chainmail or plate over it would greatly restrict you, as plate already requires quite a bit of padding so any more and you would find it very hard to move, and to a lesser extent the same for chainmail. Mind you, the entire idea of double layering armor is kind of powergaming, and unless you have both chest pieces you cannot wear one piece under the other. And as for rping your chain chest cover having metal plates in specific spots you shouldn't/can't because there is no way of knowing if such is true or not in RP. Mind you, you could always rp wearing armor under your clothes to some limit, but again that requires you have the armor on hand, and hiding an entire suit of chain under clothes would be nearly impossible. You could hide a small coat of chain under a jerkin or such though.
  18. *Tenshar sits on the unfinished walls of the academy, having finally returned from his ventures through the north and returned to take up the work once again* "It is good to be home"

  22. *This letter is posted at the main crossroad, as well as the capitals of the four nations* Greetings My name is Tenshar Karkun, Savant of the Department of Naturalism within the Ministry of Contemplation. I write you the people of Anthos this day to once again bring you news from beyond the Great North Barrier. It is to this place that myself and a group of others, number about 12, went to wander. The journey started out with us paying our way past a toll placed into Hanseti by the soldiers of the city, quickly working our way through it two by two. Once past the toll we reached the Great North Gate, the current barrier between the world of the living and the world of the flesh creatures. Once there the gate was opened we filed past, into the biting cold and blasting wind. It was in this lifeless land that we would make our way, over a few days traveling by day and hiding within shelter at night. Within hours we quickly learned our passage had not gone unnoticed, with the sound of cracking ice and chilling wind broken by grows and cries not made by the living. As we tried to quickly make our way we came across a bridge made from a fallen old log, cracked and dry as it sat exposed to the winds of the north. Seeing no way past other then the bridge, one at a time we made our way over it, avoiding holes and cracks as it slowly started to fall apart under our feet. Unfortunately due to the weight of the armor some bore, the log quickly fell apart and two of our party fell many feet to the ground below. Though they showed signs of life, a rescue was not to be, as within moments the changed creatures that stalk the north were upon our lost comrades. Seeing what could quickly become our own fates as the creatures fell upon our comrades we quickly made to leave the area, cutting through tunnels and paths traveled by very few. Unfortunately as we worked quickly across the land a few of our party fell behind, and as they talked and argued the beasts quickly fell upon them. As the screams reached us we could only look ahead and hide our fear as best we could as we quickly marched forward. We quickly realized the venture was in trouble, and that to fall behind was a death sentence. As we reached the forest lands of the north yet again another member of our party, a young lass, fell behind as if mesmerized by the strange place before her. Try as we might she would not come to us, seemingly stuck as if in like a dream. Fearing what was to come many turned ahead and faced away, though some of us could only watch as the swift black winged beast swooped down and took her in it's talons. As it lifted away the girl did not even scream, and I can only pray she met her death without fear or knowledge of what was happening. Moving once again this time at a rapid pace we quickly headed forward into the land seeking shelter, but such was not to be. Three times we entered a place seeking shelter, three times all we found was ruins and death. We lost another member when she fell into a crater within a ruin due to the unstable floors and yet another as we fled a cave we had thought to take shelter in that had proven to contain a spider swarm. At this point we were down half our party, and so in desperation we made for a near by fort. We soon found a place that to a point was secure, with stable undamaged structures and roofs over our head. As we rested and waited a great screech came from above, causing many to cover their ears in pain. But the screech was only the start of what was soon to come, as from above dropped the battered and broken corpse of the young girl, torn asunder by the claws of the flying beast. As we watched the creature a great bang came from below, as if doors suddenly slammed shut. Fearing other creatures may have entered we walked slowly to the great door we had first entered through. There we found the entirety of the pack that had been hunting us, waiting, watching. A creature like that of half man and half snake with great gashes of missing flesh watched us, promising only death as it hissed at us. A second great beast, shouted at us promising to wed our corpses to its teeth and other painful deaths. And then there was the not halfling, as small as a child but with a sinister aura that betrayed its deadly agility, an agility I myself am quite familiar with. As it watched us it chittered in its horrid voice, demanding to be fed and seeking only our flesh to sooth its hunger. A fourth beast, as if an elf given black wings like a crow, another beast I had prior encounters with during my first trip to the north. It was this beast I knew was the bane of those who fell behind, and with its defining cry it promised nothing but pain and slow death. Knowing we were living on borrowed time we quickly made for a ruined city we had spotted, and as many made shelter within the great library the creatures stalked us. Unfortunately during the run to the library the group headed to it had lost a fellow, who now stood cornered by two of the creatures. His fate sealed and the library offering no shelter the group quickly broke from it and following me headed deep into a catacomb full of traps and stale air. As we wandered lost within its passages we came to a way out, a great hole in a cliff. Though out it was clear there was no way down, and so with mutters to whatever would listen we each made to jump across. Four of us made it...but one fell too far and could not climb up. As we fled the one left behind was quickly overcome and their screams followed us out of the chasm. And then... the "spirit of nightmares," "the eater of voids," the "Dark walker," The "Hollow." A figure of that of a man in robes of red stared at us, offing nothing, promising nothing, but the depths of its deep and shadowed hood promised, a fate worse than death with naught but silence. It was minutes later that in our desperation to escape I lost the others with me and was left alone. I knew well that trying to find them would likely only lead to my death as I walked the open lands, and that I had only hours before they finished with the others and came to find me. I quickly made for the city once more and once there I wandered the great ruined buildings and halls, always keeping low and silent to avoid detection. As I did so I must of passed out from exhaustion and the cold, for a few days later I woke up at the cloud temple in the care of the monks. What is strange is that I remember all that happened except the few minutes leading up to me passing out and it is only because of this that I am able now to write this journal of what happened. Once more only by the luck of whatever watches over me have I survived...I only wish those that had come with me had been able to return as well. I only hope the power of the monks reaches as far as that barren north. Signed- Tenshar Karkun
  23. Division magic? Disintegration Magic? Interesting idea over all, I like it just needs a bit of work on what are its limits, and perhaps list them somewhere, and their drawbacks ect.
  24. Minecraft Name: kanrath Applicant Name: Tenshar Kakun Race and Age: Half Elf of 47 Years Which Department Position do you wish to apply for: A professorship within the Department of Naturalism List any experience you have had with matters regarding your selected department: I have studied the blood of drakes, the bones, flesh, feathers, blood and egg shells of cockatrices, dissected a frozen bone of a troll and hunted through mountains in search of the wild Boar Men of the north while talking to locals who had stories of their encounters with them. I have spent nearly 25 years in the study of alchemy and its use as a scientific tool including using various tools to extract portent fuels from raw coal and attempts to solidify the very elements into stone though lightning. Describe your reason for your interest in that position: I wish to work together with others to better understand this world we have been dropped on, as in the worlds of Ageis and Asulon lack of such knowledge has been of a great detriment to the very world. Along these lines I wish to introduce to others the joy of the hunt for rare and fantastic creatures, plants and things unknown and then the subsequent study of them. In time I wish to then display these finds to the world within a museum of a sort, to show the world what science and the search for knowledge can bring and its value. To prove that knowledge has a greater value then the simple gold pieces some would kill dozens over. By applying, should you be accepted you are expected to utterly adhere to the Common Clause laws. Do you understand this? If so please sign below- I understand these laws and accept them -Signed Tenshar Karkun
  25. Really well written, with a lot of thought put into it definitely not something that brings vampirism to mind until someone mentioned it. One thing that would be interesting to see is what would happen were one of these parasites to attach to a blood magic user... I for one would be good with this being approved by the LM team, good job and good luck.
