  1. Hah, I can see what you mean and I'll clarify. Yes and no, a bit of everything? So the actual barracks are around/on/in this centeral elder tree and most if not all of its RP functionality is on the bottom 1/3, at the base. The black kinda mushrooms over that amount is because the 'extra stuff' is in the canopy above. That's reserved purely for connecting hanging pathways to the wall/important buildings like the council chambers for ease of access for the guard but also just providing a playground for people to beat each other with pixel sticks to death. Blue is commerce, this time we're opting for a low number of walk-in RP shops that players can manage themselves, like a... 5x5 floorspace with a service counter I believe. Yellow is housing, right now it is clustered in those two spots and kind of weaves through the front of the city.
  2. As a forenote, I would like to give another thanks to Senda for allowing me to totally not steal his dev format. Additionally, this has been in the works for a few weeks now by a multitude of people, but the complexity of the build has kept much of tangible updates to a minimum until now. So, without further delay... Dominion 6.0 Development Update: Concepts, Progress, and Previews Hello hello! Welcome to what may be the only update post regarding the Dominion build up until launch. There's a lot left to do! I tend not to make too many forum posts but I am Twilight, and I've been building for the elves in many shapes/states/forms for a while now. I've worked on Leumalin, Laenniel, Cerulin, the extension of Laurehlin in Vailor, and a few more in the past. I'm very excited to start revealing the work the team has been hard at work on. The Team Involved: Myself! Leading the group and building the trees and meat of the capital GaiaLoTC - Ensuring all needs of the nation are met going into 6.0 Jow - Creator of the current wall, city entrance, and statues around the build TheElfenLie - Touch ups, pathmaking, bridgebuilding WarsongFarseer - Overseeing and planning the ports going to the dark elves Combustionary - Overseeing and planning the highlands going to the mages/scholars The Concepts: So I didn't realize how many different kinds of RP happen in the Dominion until I started building. It's a lot! All of them are differrent but play a key role in making the place something a player can go to and have no trouble finding something they'd be interested in. Trouble is, right now, we're far too spread out to accomplish a bulk of people sticking around. So with the size of the plot, the capital design is intended to act as a fusion of the three main branches of the Dominion and encourage inter-city roleplay and development. Let me try and explain via the template used by the Renatus team... The gold block in the center is the center of the city with a fountain, as well. Forgot that bit while editing... So at first glance, this might end up looking like a building style disaster about to happen. Fortunately, the concepts we've been using have facilitated a very subtle flavor change between districts. The three said styles have been based off of the depictions of elven settlements from the acclaimed Jackon's Lord of the Rings film trilogy. For the wood elves, the woven bridges and trees of Lothlorien. For the dark elves and ports, Greyhavens. Lastly, for our scholars, Rivendell on the highlands. The reasons for the shift from the current style to these is not only to allow a better meshing of the populaces, but to also build something that is very distinctly elven and give a more collective group feel to the branches of the Dominion. It is also consolidating the groups, preventing the decline seen by the distance between them. There is space for the druids as well, marked on the map. They are actually quite separate from the Highlands which would have caused issues, but actually more connected to the wood elves as their space is a grotto leading into the cliff-side. This area was heavily inspired by the surreal foliage of Cameron's Avatar film, and is entirely free of torches/flame to make way for bioluminescence.\ City Plan With the space provided and following the concepts, we've made housing flexible and varied. The hanging homes in the trees are stacked in a way that doesn't limit space to 3x3. They are also quite close to other housing and usually situated in some form of nature aspect/ park. This is true for all districts. Additionally, there is space for the wood elven seeds to make their own manors, as well as the dark elves, and buildings large enough for guilds in the highlands and in the forest. The backside of the city is where a cliff meets the ocean, so we are able to get away with a singular wall facing the south gate towards the main road. This will hopefully allow the other districts to keep their gates open more frequently and encourage movement between places, and keep the interference with the forest inside to a minimum. There's only two weeks left and we're working quite hard, but I will leave a few screens of what has been done until map launch. If time permits, updates will come in the future. Please pardon any wool/floating objects you may see. As a final thought, we've been toying with changing the tree color of the wood elven district to acacia. Leave me your opinion!
  3. This is really coming along nicely, the idea of 'the table' was a really clever resolution. I'll definitely be visiting once your group is done. This has sort of inspired me to potentially write up something for the elven capital, too. Again great work, looking forward to seeing it progress!

  9. The unfortunate curse of silence has plagued our city since our struggle to gain footing during the last exodus, to which I will allow no further. The Dominion’s newfound independence provides our branch an opportunity for growth. This will serve as an Edict of Revitalization for Norseth’onn to begin the undoubtedly long journey to restore functionality and prosperity. In the following days, notices will be posted in search for those willing to fill various roles within Norseth’onn including but not limited to: Stewards, Trade Masters, Ambassadors, Headmasters, etc. Information regarding each role to be filled will be provided shortly within Dominion lands, in addition to an updated citizen and housing application. May feats of magical and technological progress flow from our shining peaks once more. Signed, ((The other posts are coming tonight, just bear with me as I get my sh*t together))
  10. Titania pridefully nods and takes a deep breath of the new city's air after resting a plaque on the central square's fountain. She bids her farewells to her kin, and treks towards the southwestern mountains to build Norseth'onn.
  11. Shining amongst the violet and gold hues of descending twilight, river boats carried passengers to the shining towers and great trees of the Norseth’onn, the isle born from the void. Welcoming them stood the Silan’sul, draped in ivory cloaks and shining in silver armor. They ushered royalty-like garbed visitors through the sparkling canopy. The sizable gathering of elves and humans from all reaches of Vailor witnessed as the curtain guarding their destination cascaded to fall before their feet. Glittering like fireflies in the night air before them, floating lanterns with glass kite tails speckle the space above the woven woods of the dance floor. Its roof, provided by the tender care of the viridescent leaves of trees guarding the hollowing they gather in, reflected the light like glimmering emeralds. Below, music drifted through the warm evening air from a small ensemble of skilled musicians. After the brief introduction by the isle’s Prince and Princess, couples dispersed to scurry around the dancefloor. Groups communed and jovial laughs of celebration of Norseth’onn’s birth bounded from the expanse of the room. Lovers waltzed and friends fox-trotted in an organized chaos; truly this was a genuinely convivial convention. For hours they drank, danced, and made merry with old and new friends alike. Despite the Island opening days prior, it seemed like after all had had their fill of communing Norseth’onn felt complete. In file visitors leave to witness the splendor of the city whilst a lingering couple, clad in white with sparkling crowns adorning their brows, waltz into the small hours of the night. With the forging of bonds between city folk, life flows through the rivers of the land and has forged Norseth’onn as the beating heart of the island of scholars. ((Huge thank you to everybody that managed to make it. Hope you all had fun.))

  14. Time for RBC indices, woo.

  15. Nice, so if I counted right between all that have a copy, there are six of us (including magicpastry and myself) That in itself is enough for a few mini tournaments but if we get more people I'd be glad to set up a roster and buy some steam credit/ Eshop credit depending on what you guys would like. I can set up a date as well, I just got home though so I'm going to fire up my console and add you all.
  16. Damn, I should get the ads copy considering Mewtwo comes out in march.
  17. So a few nights ago magicpastry and I were playing ssb4 and I got to thinking, does anybody else have smash for the WiiU/3DS? I pondered the idea that if enough people have access to the game we could hold an LOTC smash tournament. I'd be willing to put some money down for prizes as well. If you have the console feel free to add me, my NTD ID is TwilightWolf9012
  18. "OrdernMarschall!" The voice of a scout rips through the cold air, shattering the silence of the alpine mountains for just a swift moment as he trots towards the general, bearing a sealed note. "A message from the Hochmeister, ma'am." The scout hands the sealed parchment over, watching as a pair of charcoal gauntlets unravel the note. The golden trimmed helmet of the general nods slightly, casting a sharp glance to the scout as she rolls the parchment up in her frosted palms. "Ergh… Sounds like a similar incident we had in the Fringe." 'Titan' dismisses the scout and returns to editing blueprints in preparation for a long day of construction ahead.

  20. Sariant Adjutant 'Titan' steadily marches past the many workstations, occasionally jotting things down onto a clipboard. The web of work woven by the Sariants of the Order was coming into full fruition. Homes, farms, and shops sprouted from the earth as more citizens flooded the streets. Old and new faces scurried about the growing buildings, and it proved to be a refreshing atmosphere for her. Perching atop the hillside, she scans over the written progress report with a content nod of her helmet. "These housing additions will need to be completed before the first harvest…" She writes a quick memo and hands it to a plebeian, who rushes the order to the forge.
  21. Came here for derp, was not disappointed.
  22. Tried to go to the movies but the weather was so bad the theater lost power… 2spooky

  24. In the lobby, Titania unrolls a set of newly issued blueprints. She nods slightly, donning a filter mask and striding into the living quarters, shouting for Sariants to get their tools ready. "This is going to be a long day…" She mumbles through the filter, disappearing down the stairwell.
  25. In the lines of Black Crosses, the helmeted Sariant Adjutant nods as the Hochmeister concludes his speech. Her record keeping had been put to good use, and for this she was both thankful and proud. "Beliae meinae bruddas, uened e besplaneg Hanseti." After issuing a salute to the Hochmeister, she tiredly makes her way back to the castle.
