I am absolutely honored to be a part of the final nominees to the Asulon Improvement Committee. I can't tell you all how strange it feels to participate here. I'll get straight into it, though.
I have been on this server for only a few months, and have experienced a large amount of roleplay from all different aspects of Asulonian life. My inexperience on the server makes a new and unswayed perspective available to me. A perspective that is not directly effected by the persuasions and opinions of some of the long-term members here. I do my absolute best to present problems where I see them and present potential solutions to those problems. My flexibility is a great asset of mine, however. I am not absolutely adamant or bent on making my point the only right one. The presentation of an accurate argument that makes obvious the fallacy of my own will easily sway my opinion on a subject; so long as it is grounded on facts and reason. I would also like to implement a petition system for the requested removal of staff members. If a person is disliked by a large percentage of the community, them being a part of the staff will only cause problems.
I have made great efforts to help the player base identify the difference between IC and OOC. I do my best to orchestrate roleplay that everyone can participate in. I will admit that much of the time my in character actions are misinterpreted and I myself am called to blame instead of my character. I sincerely apologize for any distress I have caused anyone out of character; that was never my intention. The facilitation of roleplay through my characters and others is all I wish to give to the server. If we see a problem, we shouldn't continue to depend on the staff to solve them. We can solve them ourselves. My character, Lorethos, saw a problem, and aimed to fix it. He sparked a powder keg. Nearly all of Asulon is at war; and I'm sure many of you have experienced roleplay in regards to this war. While OOC conflicts will always arise (that is only natural when a large change comes about), in the end what we have done is shown those who have difficulty differentiating IC and OOC, and we have facilitated excellent roleplay for the server as a whole. OOC harassment due to IC actions must also be made against the rules. I know many others besides me have experienced it, and it is simply not fair.
As part of the Asulon Improvement Committee, I would do my absolute best to motion for more player control and less GM control. I'm not saying get rid of the rules; I'm just saying that we need to learn to rely on ourselves rather than the GMs for every little thing. The Warclaim System, for example, is in obvious need of revamping. We also need to prevent small ghosttowns from springing up. We can do this with the development of roleplay that will cause the seeking out and destruction of empty towns (such as the ones recently abandoned by Seventis.)
In summary; reduce OOC animosity with anti-harassment rule(s), help differentiate OOC and IC, solve problems ourselves, don't rely on GMs, and get the players more power over their server.
