  1. Uh, Bird, just to clairfy. OP means original poster. The person who started the topic. He wasn't referring to you, he was referring to Sancus.
  2. I'd be down to participate for sure, primarily as primarily an RP fighter (but if the numbers prevent such than pure PvP would be fine, so long as there's RP in between battles). Sounds like a well planned and intriguing event!
  3. Any LMs lout there that I can get in touch with?

  4. Looking for someone to edit an elven skin I have. Any takers?

  5. Any LMs that can get in touch with me? Skype is jchizz, feel free to add me

  6. OOC in response to Heff: Andy Weisman Jersey City, New York, USA ((got the city wrong up until this point) Evacuating Andy's eyes widen as he heard the booms of the Magnetic Acceleration Cannons in the distance. The reporters looking about frantically, before suddenly looking up as pieces of debris and spaceship parts begin careening into the atmosphere towards the city. That was when he stopped watching television. He bolted over to the window, watching in shock as the defense fleet came crashing towards Earth. He flinched when one piece of debris landing only a block away, impacting another building with such velocity that the building partially crumbled. He could hear screams outside as people fled. By now it was obvious: "This is a ******* attack!" Andy grabs his handheld and his old backpack from college, waiting until the handheld unlocked and flipped to the message screen. "Cypher," he addresses the handheld before issuing a command. "Message, Michael Lakey." Michael waits a moment to speak, compiling all the water bottles he had, both reusable and non-reusable. "Forget meeting me. I'm getting out of here. You should too. Message you once I'm away from the city." Michael compiles the few canned and long-lasting foods he could. "Cypher, send." The message is sent immediately and Michael issues a new command as he compiles all the perishable food items. "Cypher, search: Evacuation sites New York City." Michael smirks a bit as Cypher pulled up a search page full of news reports and lists of evacuation zones. He leaves the handheld on that screen and throws some clothes into his backpack, along with his padlet He goes to get his jacket, then stops and shouts as he remembers something. "****!" He bolts into the bathroom and grabs some medicine and a hygiene kit, stuffing that in as well. He then grabs a light jacket and puts it on, zipper open. "Might be a little warm for now, but I'll be glad I have it later," he thinks to himself. He grabs his pocket knife, wallet, and a couple hand radios just in case. Finally, he grabs his handheld and books it out the door, stopping to lock it just in case. Andy jogs down the street as debris showers over the city, reading the results his handheld found for him. "Um... um... um... Liberty Park! That's like... ten minutes from here." He looks up and continues to jog, keeping his eyes open for falling debris and other hazards. People around him ran in all different directions, though many seemed to be going towards the park as well. Andy frowns. "I hope I'll be able to get out of here..."
  7. Andy Weisman ((Got this wrong last post >.> Hudson, New York, USA (just west of NYC) Watching the News on His Couch Andy frowns a bit as he watches live video feeds of people being herded into designated parts of the city, most notably Yankee Stadium. He takes a sip of beer, then picks up his handheld and stares at it for a few seconds, thinking: "It won't be weird to send two messages, right? I mean, maybe three or four would be. But two's just like, casual." Andy nods once subconsciously to himself and typess a second message to Michael: "If you can get here, you can crash at my place until this blows over. You know where I live, right? Hudson? You know my address? Try and take the tram here, I think it's still running to help funnel people out of the city." He pauses, furrows his brow, then adds one last thing before sending. "I don't have much to eat though. If you want you can bring something, or I have enough for tonight." He frowns a bit at the long message and starts to delete some of it, then shrugs and retypes it. He quickly hits send and drops the handheld back on the couch next to him before he can change his mind. Michael lifts both brows a bit in surprise as the news feed switches to a shot of one of the riot areas. He shakes his head a bit as stores are looted and fires are lit in front of him. "What the ****, it's just a drill!" he says aloud. "Idiots..." Michael could only imagine what the rioting would cost to the city in the future. Stock prices would plummet. He might even have to take a pay cut for the quarter. "So dumb..." he sighs and relaxes in the couch again, watching the seen unfolding as he takes another sip of beer.
  8. OOC: Andy Weisberg New Yorn, New York, USA Evacuating the City Andy sighs as the train pulls into the stop at Hudson, just west and across the Hudson river from Manhattan/New York City. He feels his handheld vibrate in his pocket and pulls it out, sighing as he begins walking back to his mid-sized apartment. He lets the phone scan and recognize his face before watching it unlock and open to the message. "Yea. We're being herded into Yankee Stadium. It's pretty chaotic. You okay?" Andy furrows his brow and looks around the street. It was crowded, but not quite as much as the city was. Definitely not chaotic like his friend said. He turns back to his handheld and types out a response. "Yea, fine. Made it back home." With that, he puts the handheld away and approaches his building, swiping his access card and heading inside. Andy steps upstairs to his five room, fourth floor apartment. The motion sensitive lights gradually brighten as he enters and he smiles, looking around. He liked his apartment. "Bed, bath, kitchen, living room, and a study. What more could you need?" Sure, living in New York was expensive. But his salary made rent almost a non-issue. He strolls into the kitchen, looking around to see what he'd have for dinner. He frowns as he peers inside the fridge. "Hm... nothing good... I need to go shopping." He shrugs and takes a quick glance into his pantry, barely even paying attention to what he has left there, before turning and heading into the bedroom. He changes quickly into some jeans and a loose T-shirt, then flops onto the couch with a relaxed sigh. "TV on. Channel five," he says aloud, watching as the TV flicks on and switches to channel five. He gets up as coverage of the evacuation is displayed on the flat, high-definition screen, going to his fridge and grabbing a beer before sitting back down to watch.
  9. Andy Weisman New York, New York, Fritz Headquarters and Tram Station Being Evacuated from the City "Andrew Gabriel Weisman," Andy think to himself as he looks over his crisp business card for perhaps the thousandth time that month, "Junior Analyst, Fritz Asset and Financial Management." He grins a little and leans back in his chair, staring at the data report for the past week he had just written up. Fritz, a former up-and-coming firm that was once thought to be the next big financial firm, had plateaued in terms of success and growth a few years ago, and was now regarded amongst the business community as a moderately sized firm that offered limited services to a small number of clients, but above average quality and success. Andy glances at his degree next. "Andrew Gabriel Weisman. Bachelor's of Science in Financial Economics," he thinks, adding as he turns his head to look out his window. "with minors in Business Technology and Array Programming." His smile fades a bit as he gazes across the New York skyline. He was a Boston native who had gotten his undergraduate degree just last year. He was almost immediately hired by Frtiz. "'Come to our headquarters New York,' they said. 'Just a couple of years. Once you get some experience and your MBA, you can work at our Boston branch,' they said. 'You'll love it here,' they said. Yea, right." He didn't love it here. He only had a couple of friends living and working in the area, and they were all so busy anyways that they could barely ever get together. There was no where nearby for him to go paintballing, airsofting, or shooting... barely anywhere to play pickup baksetball or frisbee. It was just a large, urban sprawl." He uploads the data report to the company database for his boss to look over before shutting down the powerful computer to go for lunch. Andy frowns as soldiers began herding him away from his office and towards the train. He had been on his way back from his lunch break when a bunch of soldiers rolled in for what they claimed was a drill. "Bullshit," Andy thought, "you don't shut down one of the biggest cities on Earth for a drill." Andy reaches into his pocket and grabs his handheld. It was said to be the next big thing in the tech world, though to Andy it was just another smartphone that happened to be wirelessly linked to his padlet. He presses a button and aims the frontal camera at his face. The camera takes two seconds to analyze his face, then unlocks for him. He quickly messages both of his friends in the area, reading aloud to himself to check for dumb autocorrect mistakes: "Hey, are you getting evaced too?" He nods in satisfaction and sends the messages before returning the handheld to his pocket. He brushes and pushes through the packed tram station, navigating the crowd with expertise. He was used to rush hour traffic, be it cars or people, and found himself moving quicker than many of the others being evacuated. After a quick scan of his pass, he hops aboard his tram and grabs a handle, shifting around as it fills.
  10. I'm interested in joining on the LotC forums

  12. Hm. Interesting study, though I'd like to know more details about how it was done... also, it was commissioned by a company that makes it's money off of gamers. Also, correlation does not necessarily equal causation.
  13. Quick question for the admin/GM/tech teams. Will other donor perks be implemented to replace the ones lost?
  14. And here I thought you couldn't bring back permakilled characters beyond a week after you killed them off...

This is a rule. Just to prevent some arguments.

      Lago

It's a rule. We had a player who suicide PKed his character then after not receiving the same IC respect on his new one, repeatedly defied the despite three GMs telling him to stop. They eventually banned him, but I suspect it was more for blatant defiance than for the rule itself.

  15. Anyone know/run a good Life in the Woods modpack server? On hungry mode?

  19. It might be worth noting that many people on the server simply prefer less serious, less drawn out, more trolly roleplay. I'm certainly not one of those people, but I've seen that opinion explicitly expressed enough now to be convinced that some people DO want that. There are places where you can mind more serious roleplay. They might be harder to find, sure... but they exist. I think it's best to just keep in mind that there are separate spaces for both types of players.
  20. So it's pretty cool when a soldier of Oren walks into Alras and begins murdering people for not being citizens of Oren... and this is why people judge Oren OOC.

I have an idea, lets not judge other nations OOCly based on their RP! Oh wait, I forgot this is LOTC... my bad

That one soldier must be a total effing boss.

So it's pretty cool when a soldier from any non-human nation dodges crossbow bolts, screams "roflstompt!!" when they win but cries a great river when they lose, then get the GMs in there... and this is why Oren does what it does.

  21. I agree with the staff's decision on this post. Military RP is far too dominant on this server. There are many, many players who would rather NOT participate in military RP, but are forced into it either due to RP events such as conquest and conscription or through the OOC unfortunate reality that it is difficult to find peaceful, popular places to RP.
