  1. The Rhino's biggest horn, extending about 150 centemeters, is about half of its full height, which on further discussion does seem a bit big. To put this in perspective, however, it would be like having a horn the length of your outstretched arm on top of your head, which somehow doesn't look quite as overproportional as it sounds. I'll change the length to 120 centemeters at your request, however. Thank you for your imput!
  2. Thank you for your imput! On the topic of the weight of Braduk Rhinos, we decided on 8000 to 8500 lbs as a weight on the rhinos that exist in real life. Their weight is generally about 7500-8000 lbs, and since Braduk Rhinos are significantly bigger than the ones in nature (About 1/5 times bigger) We decided to put up the weight for it to seem realistic. I'll discuss with Catarhh and yimmya about whether we should change it to make the Braduk Rhinos more balanced, however, and if we all agree, i'll edit the lore for the Rhinos to weigh less, and be able to run more. Good idea! When, or if, this lore is accepted, I'll make a post in the Orcish Badlands Roleplay section where a Braduk can apply to be able to use a Rhino, given enough screenshots on the topic.
  3. The Braduk Rhino ((The following lore was originally written by Makka_Pakka_99 and the1bow, eventually edited by Catarrh, ilikefooddude and yimmya Previous lore is Here)) Discovery In Aegis, when the Braduk Clan was just starting off, a village war had broken out between the Braduk village, Kenuk, and a rivalling village led by Braduk’s half-brother, Gorjol. Dishonourable raids were leaving Kenuk in ruins, and the Braduks needed an edge. Braduk discovered rhinos roaming the mountain pass. The problem was that they only stood around the height of the average human, so they couldn’t support the weight of most Orcs. Braduk, however, still saw potential in the beasts’ sharp, sturdy horns and incredibly thick hides. After a short raid on Kenuk, Braduk decided to inspect the rhinos more closely. One was captured and brought to the village, and Braduk watched it stomp around in a pen for a while, pondering how the beasts could be used to their advantage. Breeding Braduk ordered for a few more to be captured, and started a breeding program in hopes of bigger, mountable rhinos to use in the Village Wars. He only bred the largest rhinos, which, at the time, weren’t much bigger than the average ones. Each generation was slightly larger than its parents, and as such the progress was painstakingly slow. It wouldn’t be until long after Braduk’s death that the rhinos would be big enough to ride. Two Chieftains after Braduk’s reign, Goregutz was finally pleased with the size and tried to mount the first Braduk Rhino. Taming At this point, the rhinos hadn’t been properly tamed yet. The larger ones were dangerous, and were kept locked up in caves situated not too far from the clan fort. Smaller ones were usually killed for meat and leather, though the clan was still eagerly awaiting the fruits of labour to be harvested from the massive Rhinos. Goregutz, as a show of strength and bravery, decided to try his luck with the only ten-foot rhino they had. He entered the pen with several other Orcs, and immediately the animal went berserk. It began to smash around, killing many that stood in its path, impaling and crushing the slowest of the Orcs with no more than a turn of its head. Goregutz, being one of the biggest, jumped at the rhino and mounted it. He grabbed it by its two long horns, holding on for his life as the Rhino tried it’s best to throw the Orc off its back. It bucked around like this for several minutes until it threw Goregutz off. The beast was tenacious, but so was Goregutz. He jumped back on the rhino, holding on even tighter, but even then he was bucked off multiple times. It took hours for it to tire out, and Goregutz barely outlasted it. Finally, the rhino grew tired and stopped. Exhausted just as much as the Rhino, Goregutz relaxed a bit, sitting on it calmly. “Mi kall lat Gurtog,” said Goregutz. The rhino grunted, and looked up at him with what resembled a look of respect. Characteristics and relation with Orcs Braduk Rhinos have a diet consisting of grains, grasses and small plants. Usually the untamed rhinos are kept in a pen and fed their daily meals, but once paired with an Orc they are let free to roam and eat as they please. Stunted Rhinos, a somewhat common occurrence in Braduk forts due to the lack of grasses, are usually killed and processed. Their hide is used in armour, their horns sometimes sharpened into daggers, and their meat is cooked up in stews and casseroles, being too tough for any other meal. The rhino’s most common colour is grey though rare sand coloured rhinos can be born. The very first rhinos were black, but as time went on their skin lightened through reproduction. It is unknown if a black rhino remains, the last being Ghazkull’s, and there has only been one recording of a white rhino. During infancy, the Braduk rhino will have just a bump where the horns will develop. As they mature, they grow two horns; one directly in front of the other. The front horn is longer than the back horn, and usually reaches an average length of 47 inches (120 cm), while the second horn usually reaches 35 inches (90 cm). If a horn is cut off, it will take decades to re develop, and during the first couple days, the hole will remain. It is a lethal spot, and if stabbed will result in a fatality. It’s common practice for a Braduk to customize his rhino’s horns by sharpening them, overlaying them with iron, or sometimes carving his name or important symbols into them. Their thick hides cover most of their body and legs. It’s too thick to be penetrated by arrows, but hard swung weapons are capable of breaking the bones of the beasts. On some occasions, an Orc will use rhino hide as a moderate substitute for leather armour, and the clan mothers have been known to replace an Orc’s flesh with a rhino’s in serious injuries to prevent infection. The rhino’s underbelly is loose fat, and is the weakest spot on their body, save for the soft flesh behind their large ears and underneath the horns. The average Braduk rhino stands from 9-10 ft tall, and can weigh between 8,000-8,500 lbs. As a result of their incredible size, their speed is depressingly slow. Bursts of speed are not uncommon, however; a charging rhino is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 40 kmh (approx. 25 mph), with enough force to break through solid brick walls. Additionally, what Braduk Rhinos lack in speed they definitely make up in stamina, being capable of maintaining a constant speed for as much as a day without rest. The Braduk Rhinos grow at about the same rate as a normal Orc does. When an Orc cub is born into the Braduks, a rhino will already be chosen for him by one of the Elders of the clan, usually one born at around the same time. At the age of ten an Orc is shown to the Rhino, and this is where they will be bonded for life. They must first gain each other’s honour by engaging in a klomp. The Orc must do as Goregutz did, and mount the rhino until it ceases retaliation. The Orc will name the rhino, and in turn, the rhino will name the Orc. The Braduk Rhinos have their own respected contingents and have their own names; communicating to each other using a series of grunts, snarls, grumbles and roars. The bond between a rhino and an Orc is strong, and one can rarely live without the other. After the two have been paired, the rhino will scar the Orc with its horn, and in turn the Orc will scar the rhino with his favoured weapon. The Braduk rhino is extremely difficult to train and control due to their ferocity and their horrible eyesight. They’re known to charge upon the slightest provocation, and it’s rare that a particular rhino can be approached by anyone other than its familiar rider. As a result, an Orc must spend tremendous amounts of time familiarizing himself with the rhino he wishes to ride. Due to their foul tempers, the rhino will commonly go into a bloodthirsty fit during battle, requiring truly masterful skill for a rider to maintain control, and such fits can cause just as much damage to the rider’s enemies as to his friends. Because of their poor eyesight, the rhino must also rely heavily on its strong sense of smell, though this of course presents further difficulty in training and control; a stray scent sometimes causing a Braduk Rhino to plough through a nearby wall without warning.

  5. Beautifully written lore, well done. However, there is in fact accepted lore for smoke bombs already. This does not, by any means, make any difference in if this lore will be accepted or not, and I encourage you to continue on with this lore and strive just as much to get it accepted and implemented into the community. If you would like to read the lore, it is at the bottom of the post here. It was originally written by Sentlit, and is extremely hard and arduous to make. Good luck with the lore, it would be interesting to see it implemented.
  6. Thank you so much for your input! I created this lore quite a while ago, and it do downright frustrating seeing the previous thread put in the 'dead and denied' section due to lack of questions from the community. I may just do as you said, and greatly lessen the effects of Laenry's burning powder. However... It would be quite a useless invention by Laenry if it couldn't be used in such situations. Its components are rare, and frankly a pain to collect, not to mention the pain staking effort required to make it. It is made up of several processed materials, two of which have minor irritating properties, such as you would want from this lore, and the other is the Elrow berry, which acts much like a chilli, creating a burning sensation when ingested or in strong concentrations, on contact with the skin. That being said, one might as well use the basic component's individually to get the effect of slight irritation instead of taking hours to prepare such a useless pouch. As for its practicality, it is not perfect, and I may change that. Perhaps a slip knot on a thicker pouch, so only on impact can it explode. The warnings on the lore were written by Laenry due to his opinions. By someone with malicious intent, this pouch can be used commonly and effectivly, but to a normal person with morals such as Laenry, the effects are quite unpleasant. As for the permanent effects, I had some complaints earlier to reduce the severity of blinding in game. I reduced it to five-ten minutes, and made the effects of itching twenty-thirty minutes instead of one-two hours. I'll begin writing up changes to the lore, and hope that more helpful criticisms like yours come along to help me improve this lore more than I could have myself.
  7. The link to the previous post on Laenry's Burning Powder is here.
  8. I request now that my lore be reviewed and a decision made by the staff of the server. I believe all issues involving Laenry's Burning Powder has been overcome, and it a safe lore that will only add additional roleplay to the server.
  9. Sounds like fun. Though, are they purely underwater creatures, or can they emerge and wreak havoc on towns with their giant killer snippers? Also, will you be releasing lore on giant crap eating octopi to combat these foul creatures?

  11. *as you flip through the pages of Laenry's journal, you come across a page about Burning Powder* *another piece of paper is attached and folded at the bottom of the page* ((This thread was created to make Laenry’s powder more realistic and believable to those it is used on, and by. The information on making Laenry’s powder is not available to the public eye, and one may only learn of the recipe if they read his journal (which the information is contained in), or if Laenry tells them the information in roleplay. This thread has been reposted due to inacticity on the old thread. Any questions and problems with this lore can be posted as a reply, and will be answered to the best of my ability.
  12. Great to see some new plant lore. But, you said that Javens grows in desserts :D Mmmh. Desserts...
  13. Well done! It's actually great fun to not be the best at your craft, especially if you are an alchemist! I've had some fun rp stuffing up potions, and I would definately reccomend failure as one of the best ways to enjoy good roleplay.
  14. ((Completely unrelated, but, you might want to get better recruiters....
  15. I agree. How about: Velocity +Size = Mana required or V+S=M There does need to be a restriction, of course, but perhaps not as large as completely removing objects with motion out of the picture. Being able to understand and disassemble something while it is moving would be extremely difficult, and requiring large amounts of concentration of mana, hence the rule above. A Tier 4 user may just be able to do this, while a Tier 5 could perhaps do this with more ease, depending on the size and velocity. Hope this helps. Call it Convocation!
  16. How about convocation? Fancy word, sounds cool, synonym of Assembly. Other than that, sounds good, interesting lore.
  17. *Laenry places a response under the notice in Salvus, containing the information needed to join* Minecraft Name: ilikefooddude Applicant Name: Laenry Marrows Race and Age: I am human, and about... Fourtey five. About. What position are you applying for? (Librarian, Maven, Inventor, Analyst, Phrenal): I wish to become an Analyst List any experience you have had with matters regarding that Department: For many years, I have been inventing things using the wonderful arts of alchemy and herbalism. Due to the.. Effectiveness, of my inventions, I would much rather not name them or descrbe them, and I would like to state that the knowledge of my previous inventions as well as my inventions in the future be restricted. Describe the reason for your interest in that position (>5 sentences): I am currently in need of a more stable working environment. Somewhere to research and practise in safety, without the constant threat of danger there is elsewhere. For many years now, I have been interested in alchemy and the like, delving into their mysterious depths and discovering many interesting and exciting things. I would like for my discoveries to be documented for (restricted) use in the future, by the generations that follow our own. It will also be my wish to learn more about this art from others in this wonderful field, and I hope I can do so in the Ministry. By applying, should you be accepted you are expected to utterly adhere to the Common Clauses. Do you understand this?: They are valid enough. I understand and agree.
  18. Im with Hex on this one. A plant like this would be a very strong symbol of fire in alchemy (I think you can guess why), and it would be pretty hard acquire, because too young, it wont be strong enough, and too old, it will erupt in flames and turn to ashes before it is of any use. As for it burning for a few hours... This could entitle other uses. A substitute for alchemist's fire (like Joker's scum), perhaps, or maybe even for religious festivals, or just normal festivals, in general. When the flower ignites, the party is started to symbolize the beginning of new life, and when its ashes are spread and the flame has died, the festivities halt, symbolizing the rebirth of all life. I can see this plant has quite a future, and there are sure to be many unpredictable roleplay experiences coming from it. Great lore!
  19. Shame... Could it be used by other people, however? I mean, having redstone inside you is probably going to have some effect on elves around you. Like if somebody was made out of Viagra. Perhaps, just to dispel the posts saying "This is useless", or "It has no purpose, its stupid", you could make more lore behind these tattoos, say, a man of the clan was trying to gain the favour of a beautiful elf maiden, and so he imbuned redstone into his skin? Just a thought, to help you.
  20. This is exactly what I was going for. I was trying to make this plant as balanced as possible; though it has various favourable effects as soon as it’s ingested (tiredness, happiness, exc), the after effects more than cancel out the original good feelings. As Kitten said, its uses are all derived from its two main effects; the good (Happyness, good dreams, feeling safe, worryless, exc), and the bad (headaches, weakness). It can be used as a poison because it makes you sleep, and because of its after effects, and it can sedate patients also because it will cause them to fall fast sleep within a matter of minutes, or seconds. What I am trying to do is make the plant more... controlled. I want people to have to weigh up both the good and the bad effects of using Night Sap and decide whether or not to use it. If it seems unbalanced, however, I will gladly change its effects to make it balanced. As for what Justuma asked, about changing the potency of Night sap… It would be difficult. I suppose boiling the water out of it would make it more potent, but it could just as easily change the effects of it, rendering it useless. Watering it down would probably have the same effects; because of the nature of the sap itself, adding alcohol or more water could change the effects just as trying to make it more potent would. For other uses, I suppose it could be used as a perfume, because its effects aren’t noticeable from simply smelling it, and as a dye, maybe. Taking Night Sap in ways other than ingesting it would work; though applying it straight into your bloodstream would get rid of the good taste and the affects you get when ingesting it. You would simply feel drowsy (though you would still have the good dreams, exc). Applying it to the skin, I suppose, could be used as a moisturiser or a skin cleanser, though I don’t think it would affect you in the same way as ingesting it or simply rubbing it on a cut due to it being a honey like substance; thick, and hard to absorb through the skin. This plant was originally derived from the roleplaying session with Nienna Calm and Gauldrim, which makes it much easier to introduce, and be put into controlled use. I hope, with this post, I have answered all of the questions you want answered, and if not, I will gladly try again at your request.
  21. -as you open the cover of the worn, scattered journal, you come across a page with rough handwriting written in black ink- Night sap (As described by Laenry Marrows) Name: Night Sap (Wooden Button) Symbol: Earth (Medium) Description: Night sap seems to be found in deformed growths (probably caused by some type of insect) on the trunks of sturdy oak trees. A thick, honey like substance, it is as golden as an afternoon sunrise and as mouth-watering to behold as any substance one can readily find. The taste and smell brings back memories of blue skied, worriless evenings on grassy plains, eating fine meals with finer company; unrivalled in texture and taste by any morsel I have yet to devour. Effects: The instant the soothing liquid drizzles down a dry throat, eyelids flutter, muscles relax, and yawns arise from sleepy chests. A great sense of calm, safety, happiness, and overall, tiredness fills the mind, and soon you will find yourself fast asleep on whatever surface you were standing on; be it a field of soft grass, or a cold, stone floor. The pleasant, sap-induced sleep lasts from about three to five hours, and good dreams prevail throughout it. The awakening, however, is by far, the worst thing you will ever experience in your entire life. The splitting headaches that arrive upon your awakening and the inability to move more than a finger leaves you sprawled on the ground in the foetal position for almost as long as you were in a peaceful sleep. Not only are the after effects of this deceptive sap crippling to even the strongest of men, but the substance is also highly addictive, especially for people who are unhappy with some element in their life. Night Sap provides a false sense of security and happiness to even the most troubled of souls. Use: Night sap can be used as an average earth symbol in alchemy or a highly addictive drug by those who are truly troubled (though I personally think it is not worth the ravaging after-effects). It can also be used in dire situations to sedate a patient in an operation, or to poison some poor fellow who wronged the wrong herbalist.
