  2. *Earenniel slowly gets up from her seat on the boat, stretching as she does. As she climbs down the ladder she takes the time to admire the slight breeze and beautiful day. Humming to herself, she makes her way to the bridge to Normandor. Suddenly she stops dead, laying eyes on the trail of blood leading to the gatehouse. Her happy mood now melted away, she rushes forward, blade drawn to the open gates. There, swaying slightly in the gentle breeze is an elf hanging dead. Earenniel begins to examine the body. Immediately her eyes fall upon the name "Knox" carved into the poor soul's body. "How could this be?!" she mutters to herself angrily. "I watched the man die, right in my own jail cell! It must have been the monks. They must have found him and repaired him. Next time, he will not escape me." Frustrated, she cuts the body down with her sword, wincing slightly as the lifeless body makes a "thump" on the hard wooden planks. Earenniel looks down briefly at her new clothes, frowning, but decides to heft the bloody body onto her shoulders anyway. With a "huff" she hoists him up and carries him away, with hopes of finding him a more suitable and honorable resting place.*

  10. *Another note is pinned with the others. The letters are printed elegantly on the paper.* I would pay you 80 minas for your fine eggs, my friend. I can meet you at a location of your choice. -Earenniel ((MaddyKL))
  11. *Many crisp, new papers are posted throughout Asulon. They read:* The Malinor Sentinels Who are we? We are the soldiers of Malin. We are the protectors and servants of the High Council of Malinor and its people. As one, we rise to defend our great lands in the name of the Princedom. It has been our duty for centuries to ensure peace and safety of the great lands of Malinor. We are the Sentinels. Sentinel Laws and Guidelines Sentinels must always obey the orders and respect the authority of the High Council. By serving in the Sentinels they pledge an oath to the High Council to protect the people and engage any enemy of the Holy Princedom that the High Council dictates. Sentinels must obey the orders of those superiors appointed over them. Disobedience is to not be tolerated as it flies in the face of discipline and good order. Orders are to be carried out to the best of one's ability in order to ensure that the complete effort of the Sentinels in its duties to the Holy Princedom does not falter. Sentinels must not allow foreign concepts of 'honor' or the like to intrude on their duties. At the same time the Sentinel must not commit atrocities that would fly in the face of the ordeals of the Holy Princedom of Malinor. Sentinels should never surrender so long as there is a means to resist, nor should a leader surrender the Sentinels under their command so long as they have a means to resist. Cowardice is also insufferable for a Sentinel to display. All measures should be taken so that no Sentinel or Citizen is left behind to their fate during conflict or disaster. If a Sentinel is captured, they will make every effort to escape such captivity. If more then one is present they will work together to escape. Captured Sentinels will never accept bribes or gifts from their captors. They will refuse to answer any interrogations to the nature of their duties. Improper conduct within the Sentinels is not to be tolerated. Sentinels represent the arm and shield of the Holy Princedom and must keep the best appearance up at all times. All Sentinels, new and current must swear to abide by these codes. Standards of Conduct Insubordination - Disrespect towards a superior or disobeying a duty given by a superior is considered insubordination. This includes dereliction of such duty. This is a minor offense in Malinorian law. Exception is if the superior is apart of the High Council in which this is a severe offense instead. Assault - Physically striking an innocent citizen of Malinor, another Sentinel, innocent Foreigner, or other official that is not under arrest or resisting such. This is a minor offense or severe if a weapon is used. Elevated to severe and capital offenses if such is a superior. Dissension/Sedition - Speaking out against the High Council, the Malinor Sentinel, or the Holy Princedom. Slandering an official or superior is also covered here. Such is the equivalent of a severe offense or capital offense if determined to be treasonous. Mutiny - Rising up against once superiors. This is punishable by capital offense, resulting in either exile or execution, or in certain cases Unceremonious Death. Improper Conduct - Equivalent to the Malinorian law representing disorderly conduct. Sentinel are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times and not bring discredit to themselves, the Sentinel or the Holy Princedom. The severity of the offense depends on the impact of the action. General Law - All actions not covered here but are covered in Malinorian law apply to this article. The document on the offenses describes the punishment required for offenses not listed here for Sentinel that commit such offenses. Removal - Those Sentinels that commit an equivalent to a severe or capital offense will be removed from the Malinor Sentinel. Repeated offenses of a minor nature will also subject the individual to removal as well. Superiors of sufficient rank may remove a subordinate if they feel they do not make a good match for the Sentinel. This may be overturned by their superior or the High Council. Initiates and Scouts may be removed by a Sentinel or higher, Wardens may be removed by a Sentinel or higher. Anyone may be removed at any time by a member of the High Council. Duties 1. Protect the Citizens of Malinor at all times. Do not allow them to come to harm. Then protect fellow Sentinels from harm. Finally do not allow Foreign law abiding visitors to come to harm. 2. Maintain oneself at all times. Equipment should be repaired if damaged, replaced if lost. Training ones abilities for conflict should be done periodically to keep one’s skills sharp. Finally one should take care of oneself, making sure to not succumb to sickness or injury. 3. Report all nonstandard occurrences to one’s superior. This should continue from subordinate to superior until it reaches the High Council. Issues that can be handled at a lower tier should be done, issues that cannot will be reported to one’s superior. Accuracy and details of such reports is important. Ranks High Prince - The Leader of the High Council. In defense and military affairs, the High Prince or Princess serves as a Commander in Chief. They are advised by the High Council, as well as the High Commander when they directly involve themselves in the Sentinels. Prince/Princess - Position in the High Council. All Sentinels are to obey the orders given by a Prince or Princess. Occasionally a Prince or Princess will serve as the commander of the military and in which case the High Commander (if one is present) serves as their adviser. High Commander - Oversees the entire military as well as compiles the reports of their Sentinels and gives the pertinent information to the High Council. The High Commander may sentence offenders for any level of offense (minor, severe, or capital). This rank is capable of performing the duties of any rank of the Sentinels. Guardian - Assistant to the High Commander. The Guardian is responsible for upholding the duties of the High Commander when he/she is unavailable. They cannot make major decisions as a High Commander would, but may pass on his or her words to the lower ranks and High Council. The Guardian may also act as an adviser to the High Commander, and may perform the duties of any rank below them. Sentinel - Functions as a commander of the Sentinel in an entire city. They receive their reports from their Wardens and compile them for the High Commander. When needed, Sentinels may perform the duties of any rank below them. Warden - This rank handles day to day affairs. Compiles reports for the Sentinel appointed over their city. They are in charge of patrol routes and given access to the gates in order to regulate the entry of visitors. This includes city gates, customs at the ports, and other passages. Their posts serve as a central point for Outrider patrol routes. Wardens may also make patrols. Wardens are also able to sentence offenders for Minor or Severe offenses, but not capital offenses. Wardens can function in the duties of any rank below them. Scout - The main body of the Sentinels. These elves are fully capable of making arrests to those who trespass the laws of the Princedom. Scouts are expected to patrol the cities and wilderness around the Princedom. Initiate - A probationary rank used for training purposes. These are assigned to a Warden to train and mentor. They have no ability to make arrests on their own, they can only assist Scouts or above in such matters unless explicitly instructed otherwise. Joining To join the Malinor Sentinels you must contact Earenniel (MaddyKL), Feranhir (541), or Benedict (Spikehaserd) (either in-game or via forum PM, just make it RP!). Be sure that you have read and understood everything above before agreeing to join. We are currently accepting any race other than orcs. (sorry! :P)
  12. *Earenniel stands tall and proud before her comrades, a twinkle of determination in her eyes. As the last of the guards file into the room and take their seats, she begins her speech.* "I've gathered you all here today to discuss the complete reconstruction of the guard, as well as a couple other major changes and expectations. The first and perhaps the most important announcement is the apparent change in powers. You should all have heard by now that Sythra has stepped down an High Princess and has chosen Prince Bravepaw to take her place. I have no doubt that he will bring success and prosperity to Malinor. Along with his ascension, the council has handed to me the duties of High Commander. I have been discussing the current state of the guard with our new High Prince and we have agreed on the following actions: Effective immediately both the Malinor Vanguards and the Wilvanash Legionnaires will be combined to form the Sentinels. As well as this name change, the rank names and the previous system has been adjusted. From this point forward these will be the ranks and their duties: High Commander, In charge of the entire Malinor army. It is the duty of the High Commander to over-see the whole of the guard and its actions. His word is absolute, unless over-ruled by the High Council. This rank can only be gained by being elected by the High Council, and only one may exist at any given time. Guardian, who acts as a sort of second in command, or assistant to the High Commander. This person is appointed by the High Commander to serve in his absence, and is to pass on all important information to him. The Guardian cannot make major decisions without first getting consent from the High Commander or the High Council. There is only every one guardian at any given time. Sentinel, commander of a given city. Each city is appointed a Sentinel to lead the military forces within it. With the High Commander's consent, Sentinels may promote members within his guard. Sentinels are chosen by the High Commander and are responsible of reporting all significant news to him or the Guardian. There is only one Sentinel per city. Wardens, assistants to the Sentinels. Selected by the Sentinel and approved by the High Commander, Wardens are charged with aiding the Sentinels, as well as conducting patrols and in general keeping a watchful eye on the lower ranks. Wardens will also be assigned Initiates to mentor and are expected to monitor their progress. When they feel an Initiate is ready, they may suggest a promotion to the Sentinel but may not promote someone themselves. There will be no more than two Wardens per city at any given time. Scouts will make up the majority of the military. They may make arrests on their own and go about normal duties of protecting Malinor from harm. They may not promote or punish other members of the Sentinels. There can be as many Scouts as needed. Initiates are any new members of the Sentinels. They have significantly less privileges than any other rank. They may not attack or make arrest on anyone without explicit instruction, and are expected to follow the orders of their mentor. That said, I would like to congratulate Feranhir and Benedict on their new ranks of Sentinel. Feranhir will be placed in Normandor, and Benedict will be assigned to Wivanash. Their Wardens will be chosen when they find guards suitable for the position. As for the rest of you, Recruits now have the title of Initiate, and Outriders now hold the title of Scout. Legionnaires are to see me after the meeting to discuss where they will be placed. And, for those of you wondering why I have not announced a Guardian, I will appoint one when I find the time to be suitable." *Earenniel takes a pause to catch her breathe and let everyone grasp the new titles and their duties, then continues* "Along with the ranks change, the main barracks will now be in a different location. It has been decided by our High Prince Bravepaw that Wilvanash will now host the majority of military activities. Upon completion of the construction of the tower in Wilvanash, all Initiates and Scouts are expected to live there. For now however, we will continue to conduct business in Normandor as usual due to the tower not yet being completed. Be prepared to move at any time though. Starting at the end of this elven week, we will be hosting regular meetings in the barracks. It is at these meetings where promotions will be announced, training sessions will be planned, and events within the kingdom will be discussed. Until further notice, these meetings will take place in the Normandor barracks at the end of every elven week." ((Saturdays at 8pm GMT -5:00 Eastern. It's OK if you can't make it to these, but please let me know when you can't so I can update you and so I know who's active)). *Earenniel stops again, letting the murmurs rise briefly before silencing them once again* "Now , before I let you all speak I will say one last thing. With the ascension of a new High Prince ascends a new level of expectation. All are to respect the authority of those above you, and the word of the High Council is final. Those caught speaking or acting out against those above you will result in severe punishment, including executions and banishments. If you find yourself having a problem with those above you, see Bravepaw directly. Finally, are there any questions regarding anything I've said?" *Earenniel goes silent and allows for the guards to present their various queries*
  13. *looks at the letter, astonishment flooding her face as her eyes pass over it. As she takes in the contents of the letter, her countenance slowly melts into a smile. Bravepaw is well suited for the job, and she could not want for a better replacement. She looks forward to his rule.*
  14. Unbelievably tired today. I guess Vicodin will do that to you.

  15. Thank you so much for clarifying this. I appreciate the time being taken.

  20. *Reads over the note, wondering what Glylith wishes for her and her fellow guards to improve on* (( Saturday at 8 would be the best time for me personally. Could we do it then?))
  21. You did it! Welcome to the server :)

  22. ((SALA! me and Orlanden were going to have our wedding the same day, time and place! Now what....))
  23. *Earenniel reads the note, frowning. She wonders what she should be reporting, seeing as there has been hardly any people in Normandor aside from her fellow guards. There has been no crime to report that she has been informed of. She decides, however, to question her guards about things that may have happened that she did not know of. If she finds anything interesting she will be sure to write up a report. She walks away from the note, searching for her guards*
  24. I suggest that our champions step forth. Anyone can request to be a champion but they must prove themselves. We should hold our own competition and have said players prove their claimed abilities. The champions of our competition should move on to the Olympic Games!
