Quite frankly, after reading through this thread, I've found it's mostly a who did what kind of thing. I kind of find myself agreeing to this now, because as a general rule it is reasonable and agreeable, and opposition's main problem with it is that a certain group will try use this rule to their benefit. If they try and exploit a rule, I'm fairly sure they are in turn breaking rules, but don't quote me. We should treat potential exploitation on an as and when basis, rather than preemptively declaring that one side will undoubtedly use this rule to their benefit. Prejudging that side can only make the situation worse. In short, let's wait and see if this quite reasonable rule set (apart from the very last part of the last rule, I disagree with that) is exploited, rather than saying it definitely will.

Most of the time, the people who have their "RP disrupted" don't stay and fight. They either log off or continue to try and hold some semblance of their previous RP behind a locked door. As was the case with the boat-plane incursion not so long ago. The High Elves, for example, will only stay and fight when the people they face are on the outside, after that, they either give up and log off or just stay behind closed doors.

Surely you would prefer having the RP of few disrupted rather than the whole population of a city?

If there's no-one there then said city doesn't have any RP disrupted and they can't be raided again for the day. Don't see how someone would complain about that.

The issue is that certain people perpetuate war and conflict RPly and then seek to hide behind OOC barriers when repercussions come their way.

I imagine in the past that such things were the case, but that was before the Lore Team got on our arses about shamanism lore. As of now, spirits can't exist in the mortal realm. Though I do like the idea of each greater elemental having a mortal avatar that shares their consciousness, so maybe at some point I could ask the Lore Team about it. With the Imps, if they were accepted lore, then they obviously could be present.

Also, according to lore, spirits cannot physically enter the mortal realm, unless they are an ancestral spirit in the body of a muyakelg or being temporarily summoned by a Lutauman. A spirit may only influence the mortal realm from the spirit realm. Perhaps something better than a "rogue spirit" (such as thing doesn't really exist, just differing levels of apathy towards mortals) would be a rogue muyakelg, whereby the shaman who created this muyakelg has died, and as such this muyakelg has nothing stopping it from rampaging around the Fringe. To add to this, the muyakelg could have been created by a relatively poor Lutauman, and as such it is very bestial and primitive-minded.

Like the lore, +1 from me. Like people have said before, the only problem with the Gravens is how the players would abuse them. I myself know I went above the lore (fully intended pun) to an extent a few times, but at least I made sure I never forced anything on anyone. All the effects of the stare were optional. The problem with the regulation of the old Gravens was that Grim quickly went inactive after starting them, and so there was little to no moderation of them. I know spqr to be an active and intelligent person, and so I think that the old problem is much less likely to arise with him moderating this time round.

Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not, it doesn't make sense that you can jump a 4 metre gap or swim in full plate armour but I'm sure you wouldn't like it if they made it realistic movement with armour. I've heard it said before many times that there's no point doing roleplay on Minecraft if you keep removing Minecraft's features.

I think the point is that if you get in with mechanics you can get in, end of story. I thought most of the people posting here were advocates for mechanics combat.

I voted no because it is extremely similar to Witch Doctory or Farseeing, and I'm pretty sure the LT takes a stance against magics that do the same thing.

It has to be taught by another Shaman.

I think there needs to be more clarification on what a water spirit actually is in this context, otherwise confusion with the water spirits of Shamanism is to be expected.
