  1. Application - A thin roll of parchment has been tied shut with a brandy coloured twine. The rustic letter is delivered with the thrum of wings from a white owl. The parchment would fall, fall, and then land upon the earth, splaying dust into the air. After the ruffle and crinkle of the unwrapping passes, a stale note is within the hands of whomever has chosen to sift through these new recruits. Open to read the letter. 11. I lost six music disks. I'm in the process of getting them refunded, but I'm going to vent a little here anyway. I'll try to keep it constructive, but this week has honestly been a total *****. I'm not a materialistic person. That's not me bragging, I just couldn't care less for expensive things or a new phone. I find solace in trinkets: carved animals, empty perfume bottles, small love notes; however, music trumps all of these for me. I have always been a musician. I collect snippets of music, and practically live in a sea of notes at times. Minecraft music has always been one of my favourites. I have both minecraft albums on my phone, and they are what I listen to when I need to focus. Having these music disks was one of the higher points of LotC for me - above skills, minas, or donator perks. Then they were gone. It was actually incredibly frustrating. I had a hard day already and this made it worse, a lot worse. I don't care about shiny diamond armor, minas, or fancy houses. I care about being able to drop down a jukebox and jam out while RP'ing, and know that other people can enjoy the experience with me. It is possibly my favourite thing to do upon LotC - play music and RP with close friends. Now I don't have the disks anymore, and it feels very dull. You may be recoiling in confusion, "Do these stupid items mean this much to him?" Yes. These stupid items mean this much to me because they make me feel like I'm helping other people on this server enjoy themselves more, and because I love music. Don't dismiss my affection for things because they are constructed of pixels and waves. I want them back. I can only imagine how other people feel who've lost things that matter to them as well.

  14. I'll add the snippet about their wings! I've also read some stuff about Emu's and the lore for the Gy'waka and I've adjusted the height accordingly. My idea was to keep the bird from being too menacing, but that didn't account for the 40% neck height.
  15. Free Music. The Cranes of Adrallan are a peculiar species of Athera. They often keep entirely to themselves and live in secluded sections of the forests of Adrallan. Rivers and reeds are their home; there they hide and dart with the speed of horses. It is because of their extreme speed that these cranes are at times coveted as mounts. When these massive beasts are not sprinting to keep up with the schools of fish they scoop up as their diet, they can often be found napping underneath the serene fall of leaves. Their impressive stature sets the largest of male cranes at eight and a half feet tall, and the matriarch of a flock of these cranes may stand at a staggering nine feet tall at the tip of their head. The crimson flare of the feathers of the cranes is created from the mass amount of both salmon and berries in their diet. While the cranes are born white, the huge intake of salmon and berries to make up for the colossal caloric intake of their speed eventually tinges their feathers with a shimmering crimson hue. Peace and wisdom is what these cranes embody. They are highly intelligent for animals, capable of learning through visual observation and eventually developing the ability to mimic the sounds of other animals, including the common tongue of Athera. The cranes are docile to a fault. They choose always to run instead of fight, and their only defense mechanisms are to batter with massive wings and to scratch and bite; long claws sit at the base of their powerful legs should they become completely cornered. These bold animals travel in packs of eight to twelve, and are often lead by a massive matriarch. The matriarch is the oldest of the cranes, and as such, the reddest. Few legends circulate of a purely red crane who has lived on Athera since even before the Descendants arrived to its shores. Despite these myths, the cranes normally live to be twenty or twenty five years of age, with a few making it to thirty. The taste of these cranes is something that along with their gorgeous feathers, has forced their numbers to dwindle, dwindle, die. Few of these cranes exist anymore, and speculation suggests less than twenty exist in Athera anymore. For those lucky enough to successfully tame one of these majestic creatures as a pet, one would find they are highly loyal; however, combat is not within the nature of these beasts. ___________________________________________________________________ Alright Disco, you wrote some stupid lore again. What's it for this time? Well, I don't think Athera has enough cool Fauna. I really don't. Also, cranes are pretty bad ass, don't lie. Also, I really hate Undead horse mounts, and I want to RP mine as a kick ass docile crane. So, yeah. Disco, does it have red li- If I see you running around with these cranes making them kick people in the face, I'll reach through your computer and eat all of your peanut butter. They don't fight. They can't have a conversation with you, they can memorize short phrases. They don't fight. Ramming a crane into someone isn't going to happen, the crane will stop. They don't fight. They eat fish, not cupcakes. If it isn't fed fish or berries, it's going to get sick. Don't role-play as the crane unless you have GM or ET permission, duh. They don't Other than that, they're just really, really big cranes. fight.
  16. I was informed mechanical standard was removed. I shall now RP my spooky horse as an Undead horse, for that is less immersion breaking than a large cat.

  17. If you touch it, the gems will no longer produce a tone - they'll just be regular, shiny gemstones.
  18. Beauty may be subjective, but the Gemsong Crystals of Athera drop jaws within their cavern dwellings. The Gemsong Crystals of Athera have been buried just underneath the surface of the world, and have often gone unnoticed by the miners of the realm due to the hustle and bustle of the trade; however, those wise enough to stop, those who stay the cacophony of pick against stone, those who look in the dark for beauty and not riches - may find awe. These multifaceted crystals grow from the slow trickle of natural water through stone. As the water crams down into crevices of caves, these gems slowly coalesce into easily fractured and easily inspiring gems of awesome color. Should the natural light of sunlight be allowed to touch the surfaces of these rare gems, one would find an array of luminescent colors bursting from the skin of the crystals. Their most stunning quality however, is, by no small margin, their voice. These crystals resonate and produce pitches that are light quiet hums to the Descendant's ears. Should multiple crystals be gathered in one place, their tones shall adapt to one another and resonate in chords that may be especially pleasing to the ear. This beauty is not perfect, though. With the touch of skin against these crystals, their resonation is muted and one will find that they do not sing. A crystal must be untouched by skin or leather or cloth - only a resting place of Atheran stone will allow the crystals to remain unmuted. Few offer conjecture to this purpose; perhaps the crystals are magic in some way and touching them drains latent mana, perhaps the crystals are charged in some way by an Aengul who fears the mortal coil, or perhaps the strange nature of these crystals is just an Atheran miracle that should not be questioned - simply appreciated for their beauty. Regardless of the source of their odd tonality, one thing can be agreed on - The hum and the glisten of a Gemsong Crystal are two sources of harmony among a world ravaged by war. _________________________________________ So, why this? Well, the crystals don't serve a combat purpose - why should they? We've crossbows, pole-axes, magic, kittens, you name it, for combat. Where is the high fantasy of this realm that hurls players into a world of wonder? I've an arrogant answer, it's right here. Players will be able to gather these crystals and represent them IC'ly however they see fit with MC items such as emeralds, lapis, note blocks, even music discs. Does it have red lines? ~Don't use the shimmer of a gemstone for combat, you're better off running away. ~The gemstone is not loud enough to hurt anyones hearing or distract them from magic. ~The gemstones have no effect on anyone that they do not wish to RP. ~Touching a gemstone with anything processed by man (cloth, tools, leather, skin, etc) will mute it. Natural substances (Uncut wood, grass, stone, water) will not mute the stone. ~This lore is for immersion and smiles. Don't make people frown with my lore if it's accepted.
  19. Navarre walks down the gravel road, panting from her long journey to Athera. She lets out an annoyed sign before coming to a halt before the bustling Elven city, Annil'sul. Navarre inhales deeply, refreshing herself before pausing; she waits for a few minutes before guiding herself into the city. Once within the city, Navarre pads around for short moments. She brushes her fingers over the signs and closely reads the text upon the wooden information boards. Inhaling deeply, Navarre takes in the scent of the city. Her nostrils fill with the broad aroma of roasting meat and the familiar scent of birch. The clopping of hooves against stone brushes against her ears and she moves from the large Elf riding a horse. Navarre makes her way to the Wood Elven district, where she stops and eyes the movement of small, brown animals who dance and flit throughout the verdant foliage of the area. Navarre's lips flash in a smile, and for a time she simply waits and stares at the life. As Navarre passes from the greenery coated with the spouts of birch trees, she trails a hand along the stone of the city. Her feet take her forward - though her eyes drag a content look across the open sky. Before Navarre realizes it, she has arrived back upon the Stone Road that permeates the majority of Athera. She marches onwards, only stopping at places where the hearty smells of food jump out and into the road. As Navarre crosses over the stone bridge, she turns into the Druid's Grove and begins her official search. Navarre ascends the massive tree. The bark is silent under her practiced steps. As she climbs higher, higher, Navarre's gaze no longer passes the world without direction. Her views go everywhere; in frantic darts, she looks for proof. She finds none of his work. Of her father's power. As Navarre reaches the peak of the tree, it is only the encompassing view of nature that gives her a pause. Her eyes scan over the lush thickets of the Grove, of Annil'sul. In the distance, a smaller Grove begins - one of Birch, in a meadow not far from the city of the Elven people. Shaking herself from this daze, Navarre descends the tree. Her heart sinks as she finds herself descending under the earth. She searches for him, for her Father. It is not until Navarre reaches the room of the Demi-Aspects does she realize what may be the truth of her father. As she shuffles solemnly through the vines, her eyes drag across the grass. She only looks up after a long moment of hope. As her gaze scrapes across the room, she finds the proof. A simple sign, held to the wall by simple vines, symbolized unsimple emotions. Loss, remorse, pain. Navarre sunk to her knees and let out a lamentation of her sadness. She curled up for some time before slowly rising; exhausted by her unwanted discovery. She languidly lays a hand upon the memorial for Callax, the Reformer, a Druid who laid out the truth for the Order and established balance in a world of turmoil. Navarre lets out heavy words through dry lips. They escape as barely more than a whisper. "I'm home now, Dad." _______________________________________________________________ This is the introduction to my newest (or not so new at all) character, 'Navarre'. She'll be getting gritty with some of the Druids who have allowed the Order to slip into chaos. (from her view) Unfortunately, those of who you love our Wood Elf Cleric - Arrea, you'll be seeing less of Arrea as I transition to this newest character. It is my opinion that if the Druids ever needed some help, it would be now. I still consider myself an active member of the Elven community, and if you've got questions about this shift in characters, feel free to ask here in a spoiler, or PM me.
