  1. @FlamboyantTyrant I wouldn’t be proud to be known as the guy who shelves things.

  2. Can we take a minute to talk about the massive lore purge going on right now.  Seems like it does more harm than good to just revert people out of nowhere, especially when there’s no chance to save characters that people have put quite a bit of time into.

LoTC is ultimately a collaborative writing project.  With any piece of fiction like this, it is inevitable that  there comes a point where we find ourselves with cooks in the kitchen.  The LT is correct when they say the lore of LoTC is incredibly bloated, with articles and mechanics that have not aged well.   Things need to be fixed, but that does not mean we need to wage a ‘salted-earth’ war against any pieces of lore than are not applicable to the entire server.  Some things fill a niche, and will only ever be interacted with by a few members of the community. @James

I don’t think that’s necessarily true though.  The lore on LoTC has to be trimmed and reformatted from time to time-purges like this are bound to happen with any collaborative writing piece.  The problem is that, in my personal opinion, this purge has been poorly managed and even more poorly implemented.  Redacting massive parts of lore that lots of characters have either interacted with, or wholly depend on for their characterization, without having either an alternative or an IC reasoning behind it leaves a lot of people in limbo. @James

  4. Has someone been hiding old Necro MAs?  I went back into my log to try and find my old app, and it seems to have vanished.  If I’ve suddenly developed dementia, I’d like to know.  Starting to think I need my head examined.

Oh thank goodness.  I though I was going mad there for a second.

  5. There are two types of people in LotC. People who can take down an Olog single-handedly while having torn off arms and legs, and people who sub to T-Series.

You either die a Ugandan Knuckles, or live long enough to see yourself become a Big Chungus.

  6. Ah yes. My Satyr who I spent a good map and a half on, has finally PK’d because it was enforced. Good to know that our LT is helping us by reverting those that can revert and PK’ing those that can’t. Great job fellas, hey how about we get rid of something that ISNT adding to the server? Or you know, stop shelving everything and then denying every rewrite that comes out. As well as ignoring players that want to get in contact with you. @Tythus full LT and admin purge when?

And what about the character’s in the interim?  The problem isn’t the LT restructuring the lore--heck, I’m all for new things, and there is a ton of stuff on LoTC that could use a fresh coat of paint.  The problem is this mass shelving crusade Flam has been on recently.  When you get rid of huge pieces of the server’s lore without having an alternative prepared, you screw up a lot of things for a lot of people.

The problem isn’t that we’ve been given time to rewrite the creature, the problem is the LT decided to nuke half of the established magic lore from orbit without having an alternative ready.  The fact that anyone decided it would be a good idea to invalidate massive amounts of the magic lore BEFORE they had anything ready to release to the players is, to be perfectly frank, ridiculous.

Even when the players do go out and write restructuring for their lore, the pieces are kept in limbo.  In the interim, characters that players have put time and effort into building are either strongarmed into PKing, or in the case of transformed characters, have months if not years of character building invalidated.

  8. What’s the status on the recent lorewipes?  Has the LT offered any explanation as to what the heck is going on with necro/holy magic recently?

@FlamboyantRageWell then call me Patrick Star because I haven’t heard anything about the rewrites.

Seems like this should be something that’s a bit more transparent, considering it has the potential to screw over a lot of characters.

  10. As probably the only person who mains a morghuul, I'm not very enthusiastic about the idea of holy users now not having effect on undead with their spells. It gave a little "spazzaz" to my perspective on things. My character fears the light, he fears wrath of the gods. He shrieks and flees at the very presence of them. This is fun, to me at least, and which is why I heavily avoid holy users. I don't think I have any business beating a cleric, ascended, paladin, etc. I think the only spooks that should go par-to-par with them are wraiths, and other dark magic-oriented creatures that have transcended so high to the point of actually challenging the power of the light. I understand there are other OOC complications sadly, but yeah. That's just my opinion as an undead creature. I hope the LT team reviews this.

Depends on the complexity.  The Tailor's Guild compensates for commissions, so most of the skins I make are free!

Wait wait wait, does this mean Gandalf was in on the Malfoy's conspiricy all along? And if so, then what the heck is Aragorn doing with the Klingons out on Naboo?
