Vessel and Flame
♪♫♪
The last memory was of the cold taste of metal against cracked lips. The crimson ichor that flowed from the silver grail was supped, flowing down the throat in a quiet stream. It continued, downwards, and still poured from the basin. The reflection of the sun upon the water faded, as did the chants that resounded in hymn around the Myste. The eye looked upon the strange chalice with embeddings upon its silver facade in alien, ancient script.
It was in the blink of the eye that the chalice was gone. Hands, sunk deep within the waters, they too were gone. Nothing was left but the red stream, from where it poured was unseen, some umbral darkness infinitely above. To where it poured simply vanished into the abyss,
Null.
Vast emptiness was all around.
Entropy.

The red waters, thin as a line, widened. At first, it took up the entirety of the Vision, yet it continued, surrounding in a cascading waterfall. Yawning open, the red waters revealed what was before unseen within the umbral darkness…
Eyes.
Eyes thousandfold wept, blinked, stared endlessly. The waters widened, glinting before
Ivory.
Ivory teeth.
Mouths, millions upon millions of mouths, parted. Cries howled upon deaf ears, Others laughed, and some simply sang in atonal madness.
Gnashing, biting, animalistic maws sought to consume their own flesh and sinew. The waters further spread, revealing
Fingers.
Hands.
Hands sewn upon hands.
Untold billions grasped, pulling, plying whatever found purchase, leering to reach into the eternal expanse in utter despair. Red waters spilled forth, and thus, the utter depravity was revealed.
One mass, sickly pale flesh, bloodied in eternal weep was all there was. All there is.
Crimson lesions cried from a thousand eyes, as nails that were their own sought to tear vision from their singularity.
A million eyes replaced them.
Teeth gnashed, clambering as they sunk into hands, ripping fingers only to consume them - and what were tongues became fingers, and what were fingers became…
Hands.
The mass was ever shifting, to which it had no borders or ends. To look away was only to bear witness to another extremity of the abomination.
You could not look away,
for it was You.
You feel a finger aim to tear away what was once your cheek, while another hand malformed to bear teeth - you bite your own face.
The waters,
O’ the Waters never-ending,
the red waters, you realize they were not stemming from somewhere unknown. Eternally, ever flowing, the red waters poured from your billion orifices. And still, you did not know.
You did not know from whence the waters flowed.
It was you. It was me. It was One.
And the One cried out.
“I am all that I want to be.”
“I am nothing as I want to be.”
“You did this.”
“Long live the Emperor!”
“Where is my cat? Where is she?”
“Flame guide.”
“I am hungry.”
“I am bored.”
“No King but Malin.”
“Where am I?”
“Help me, please!”
“How many minae is this pie?”
“The Weak are Meat.”
“Radiant is the Black Sun.”
A million voices rang out, some in response, some in asinine ramblings. Such chattering, heaves of breath, splashings of blood, clapping of hands, moans, groans, whispers - all ceased at once.

Flame
Colorless white, more radiant than the sun itself, engulfed All that was, silencing the flesh in one cleave. No voice did speak, no eye did open nor close, no hand did feel.
There was no feeling. There was no seeing. There was no hearing. The red waters were no longer crimson, no longer was it blood. It had been woven, made into flame. One Flame sat upon a great brazier of stone.
Stone of mountains.
Chiseled into its face were the greatest of wings, wings that would shroud cities, shroud continents in their berth. And from the greatest of the winged serpents was its maw open, and its maw was the brazier lit aflame.
A Flame WHITE-GOLD.
And still it shined, yet the great flame shuddered, and in one instance was the world cleaved together again - Logos and GnosIS. Material and Immaterial, Vessel and Flame.
A Flame RED-GOLD.
The great maw of the dragon closed, and the Mountain spurred with its inner Flame. And from the heavens did hark the call of a Hawk, yet it was drowned out in LIGHT
BLINDING LIGHT
The light grew dim. Darkness crept to its edges, as though it was always there. As though it would never leave. The sound of water splashed against the shore, the smell of brine, of a wet cave hit the nose of Alrei. An eye opened - that light, it was the sun. He lay on his back upon a shore, face looking upwards to the open sky. And there, he knew. Only a part, an iota, a fragment, but he knew.
He knew that he knew nothing.
