  1. Dang, I didn't know that Mojang gave LOTC permission to use all of the TrixyBlox assets! My apologies! I'd like to see the permit Mojang gave us for this though.
  2. The claim that the Temp Map was entirely made by LOTC outside of the two town assets ("This map was built by ST Builders outside of those two assets") is false. The massive lanterns used multiple times in the Temp Map are also straight from TrixyBlox. Watch him build it here: Here you can see it on the temp map: "When asked yesterday in #OOC, I'd stated (i hoped clearly) that this map was a combination of on-server builders and off-server builders. " This is not enough individual credit given to the ONE BUILDER who made THREE different assets used in the Temp Map. I hope this server will provide more credit to outside builders in the future.
  3. I think TrixyBlox should win this one he made the entire temp map single handedly
  4. You wouldn't download a minecraft map

  5. If it turns out we did get proper permission to use TrixyBlox assets in the temp map it can be salvaged by adding in a freebuild area for builders to dork around in and a PvP zone for the goons to practice their clicks in. If it turns out that we used all of these assets without permission then the server should be set to a vanilla MC world for plugin testing until 9.0 launch.
  6. I don't think the accusation here is that LOTC pirated this dude's work, moreso that we used it without giving credit (which is why a lot of players thought that the crimson town and docks and whatnot were made by ST builders instead of the reality which is that it was copied in from elsewhere). I think a quick blurb about where temp map assets were obtained from would've stopped a lot of this drama from occuring in the first place.
  7. We deviate from the traditional freebuild/boats temp map model just to give ourselves a dollhouse lore cave of which large portions of it were ripped from a youtuber download (Who afaik hasn't been given any credit for actually building much of the temp map we're on rn until now. I never knew that this wasn't made by LOTC staff builders until this thread came up, for example). Why can't we just get some normal freebuild island?
  8. Yeah ok the blue town is block for block made by TrixyBlox, not even an "inspiration" sort of thing that's the exact same gate and the exact same tree and exact same building there on the left. I hope we at least contacted the guy before using his map commercially.
  9. Hopefully Braevos will be a good map

  10. [!] Another note is added onto the pile "IMPORTANT! Just down across the lake from Red-town is a secret cavern (nay port attached to it!) with a HIDDEN LIBRARY at tae end! -Mimosa Applefoot"
  11. [!] You find some notes scribbled on the backs of already used papers "Well darn, despite being a good and proper Knoxist it seems that I've gone to Arugula's depths along with everyone else 'n Savoy. Since I'm already here, I may as well take some notes: There be but a few features 'n t'ah depths: The Caverns T'is be where ye enter Arugula's evil realm. It be all black and purple with strange vegetation. Redtown A ol' shanty town made by sinners, this town is built near the ghoulish waters below just past the exit from the caverns. I hereby name it "Redtown" since it has a reddish-purple look to it thanks to the use of local mushroom-woods. Bluetown An old elven-lookin' place just up the hillside away from the waters of Redtown. I guess these sorts of elven souls really do all go to Arugula's waters when they die after all, for how else could there be such constructions here? Greykeep An old ruined fortress just beyond Bluetown. Maybe it was made by the damned elven souls of bluetown to defend against something? The Gate Big ol' gate. I bet Greykeep was made because of this. The Shroomlands Big ol' magic mushrooms just past Redtown in a different direction than that towards Bluetown, Greykeep, and the Gate. I haven't explored here yet and honestly, I don't wish to. T'is a dark and evil place. ~Mimosa Applefoot"
  12. "T'ey are jus' jealous o' Gared's magnificence. 'e's t'ah bes' dwed tha's evah lived besides t'ae ol' legendareh Bjor Cottonwood" comments Mimosa Applefoot, a halfling who has met Garedyn before, as she sits around a campfire in Savoy.
  13. [!] Some halfling propaganda is spread around the Savoy Refugee Camp Bywater Government Cheese In these trying times, us halflings have taken it upon ourselves to supply the refugees o' the Mori Invasion with Halfling Government Cheese to alleviate their hunger! If ye are in need of more rations, feel free to ask your local halfling cheese-queen, Magnolia, for an extra helping of cheese! ~Mimosa Applefoot, Mayor of Bywater.

  15. OOC: Hello there! This is an event designed to simulate a single day of halfling life as best as possible. Everybody starts at the beginning of the hour, having just woken up. Their characters then go about their day as they would IRP, eventually falling back to sleep at the end of the hour, which ends the event. Working, eating, talking, and other things your character typically does in a day can and should be roleplayed. There will be a single roleplay prompt happening during the hour to promote interaction, but attending it isn’t mandatory. Feel free to do as you wish. The intention isn’t to attract a large quantity of halflings into one location at a time, but rather to create as much immersion as possible. SoL Event Checklist (Optional): -Wake up ( ) -Eat something ( ) -Do some task ( ) -Interact with someone ( ) -Eat another thing ( ) -Go to sleep ( ) RP: [!] A notice is nailed to the Bywater Noticeboard: "Urgent: Fields need planting! Can provide ye with booze afterwards for all ye who wish to help -Mimosa Applefoot-Nimblefoot, Mayor of Bywater" ((4 PM EST tomorrow, Thursday the 4th of May, 5/4/2023. Located within Bywater, the home of the halflings on Almaris.))
  16. "Oh Knox... oi t'was jus' talkin' to 'er, invi'ed 'er over ter dinner, even. Wish oi could've said ah few more thin's t'ae 'er, or go''en one las' checkup 'fore t'ah village doc'or wen' off t'ae t'ah Whea'fields" remarks Mimosa Applefoot-Nimblefoot, Mayor of Bywater.

  18. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/textbook Save your books to text files. Save your text files to a flash drive or some other secure storage system. LOTC is buggy. Don't use LOTC as your sole method of saving your work. Use google drive, use whatever else you can come up with.
  19. [!] Some aviary messages are sent out "Dear reader, King Cyris, Thain of Bywater, is NOT dead. Whoever has been spreading this rumor is spreading FAKE NEWS to SLANDER the glorious Bywater republic! The Thain is very much alive, healthy, physically fit, and at his peak power. He is Knox's chosen and will not disappear from this realm so easily! Glory to the halflings, glory to the wee! -Mayor Mimosa Applefoot-Nimblefoot."
  20. Getting actually immersed in LOTC takes two things (in my opinion anyways): 1: Actually caring about the time/weather 1 hour is 1 in-game day, yet people will stand around in the same roleplay scenario for hours on end even when there's no CRP or real necessity to keep the RP going. When you see that it's getting dark don't just stay in the town square chatting, move indoors! Invite the people you've been chatting with over for supper or something, it doesn't matter. You can even roleplay sleeping if you want (though usually I timeskip straight to the next morning). Also, take the weather into account. When it's raining, mention the fact that it is raining in-character and try to move the roleplay somewhere dry. Lightning strikes? Better stay away from the water! You can invent your own weather depending on the climate. Why not have a dust storm interrupt your Balian tea-party? Horde of locusts? You name it! Is it a winter month? Put on a coat, emote shivering in the chill breeze. Is it a summer month? Emote being exhausted if your character is working hard at something, interrupt your casual chatting RP with drink breaks so you stay hydrated in-character, have a heat stroke if you want to be dramatic. If you don't care about time or weather you are roleplaying in a static environment and your roleplay will take on that static kinda vibe where hours slip by without actually mattering. 2: Actually doing something Ain't nothing wrong with playing a character that has places to be, and I don't just mean "oh no I gotta go bye cya guys" *logs off* I mean your character leaves the tavern and then actually does a different roleplay thing while staying logged onto the roleplay server. Give your character things that they must do every day. This could be basic things like eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. or more interesting things such as daily rituals/prayers, weird habits, whatever. Don't do one thing for hours on end, mix it up, go work your characters in-game job, talk with friends, shop in the market, eat meals, and whatever else you can think of. Speaking of jobs, give your character a job. Seriously. Too many characters are effectively unemployed. No, being a noble isn't a real job. How does your character earn a living? Monk minas and monk bread make it far easier to get by mechanically than it should be to realistically make a living in-character. Get a job, it doesn't have to pay you many minas (or ANY minas at all!). If your character gets a job, and other characters around your character get a job, then, regardless of whether or not your "jobs" reward you well mechanically, you can transform a lame, dry-old tavern RP settlement into a vibrant, varied community where everyone has their own identity and relations beyond just who they chat with in the tavern or town square. ok rant over
  21. human cities? having citizens who aren't nobles? I thought that was impossible! good luck tho. commoner rp is more fun than most ppl think.
