  1. With how isolated communities are nowadays, this probably varies wildly from place to place.
  2. [!] A note is pinned to the noticeboard of Dúnwen Darkspawn Heretic Banished! ~A peculiar person in the river~ A foul construct (with bones inside and other oddities) called "Prolethius" crafted by an EVIL darkspawn overlord has been sent to our fair shire to DECEIVE US by claiming to be sent directly by Lord Knox! Do not believe his lies! He is an IMPOSTER and does not speak for the Pumpkin Lord! No longer shall this being be anywhere among us, for he is henceforth BANISHED to go lie to some other realm. 4. Mimosa Applefoot visibly cringes upon reading this paper. ”T’ey mus’ beh mercenaries out o’ work t’ae call for othahs ter star’ ah war loike t’is’.“ she’d comment.

  9. OOC: Hello there! This is an event designed to simulate a single day of halfling life as best as possible. Everybody starts at the beginning of the hour, having just woken up. Their characters then go about their day as they would IRP, eventually falling back to sleep at the end of the hour, which ends the event. Working, eating, talking, and other things your character typically does in a day can and should be roleplayed. There will be a single roleplay prompt happening during the hour to promote interaction, but attending it isn’t mandatory. Feel free to do as you wish. The intention isn’t to attract a large quantity of halflings into one location at a time, but rather to create as much immersion as possible. SoL Event Checklist (Optional): -Wake up ( ) -Eat something ( ) -Do some task ( ) -Interact with someone ( ) -Eat another thing ( ) -Go to sleep ( ) RP: [!] A notice is pinned to the Dúnwen Noticeboard ~Dunwen by Night!~ Let us harvest the fields now that t'ae harvest season is here! The best harvester will get a specialty drink! ~Mimosa Applefoot, Mayor of Dúnwen. ((7 PM EST tomorrow, Tuesday the 12th of September, 9/12/2022. Located in Dúnwen, the home of the halflings on Braevos)).
  10. Most nations don't want to go full evil mode because... A: Often the baddies don't win aka their nation gets destroyed in the process of turning evil. B: If the baddies do win it's a map-ending eventline and your nation probably won't enter the new map except as sparse non-evil remnants or scattered refugees. The Undead didn't move onto Asulon after all. Besides you can be plenty evil just by declaring regular ol' wars of expansion and it's less likely to get your nation capital scripted to blow up. LOTC does not have the mentality to sacrifice the long-term survival of your community for narrative development so it's a hard sell.

  13. [!] A notice is put up on the Dúnwen Noticeboard! Warning: Incompetent Burglar! Hide your dirt, hide your stone, hide your wood, and hide your deepslate! The Garbage Collector is here to steal your least valuable items! Just recently, this bandit buffoon ran around our wee village filling his pockets with mass-produced monk stone and other refuse from old build supplies. He even 'broke' into a few burrows to steal their firewood! Hide your less valuable belongings well or else the Garbage Collector will take out your trash for you! Remember: The Garbage Collector is extremely clever in his non-cleverness! Not only will he steal your refuse, he will brag about it! He left a big 'L' of cobblestone in one of my booze-barrels after stealing a single bottle of booze, the space for which seemingly cleared out by leaving fifty two bread loaves in another barrel (I am munching on this free bread as I write this notice). Hide your trash, hide your old building supplies, hide your flower collection! The Garbage Collector is HERE! -Mimosa Applefoot, Mayor of Dúnwen, very cool halfling.

  15. changing the system to d12 damage dice and 25 hp makes skill vs strength not as big a difference so that is the system to use if you want your skill build to be just as viable as strength builds Stats for d12 damage, 25 hp I think these above numbers are balanced enough to be able to pick your archetype based on RP instead of what is "meta", it's really only a problem if you pick some archetype that conflicts with your race such as going for str attck if your race has a spirit buff, or vice versa if your race has an str attck buff, since you can only use one of those values on a damage die at once. same as above but with 10k repetitions instead of 1k With 25 hp and d12 damage, there is a bias towards doing what your race already does but more, a small bias for strength over skill, and a similar bias for defense over offense. Rock is dethroned by sentinel for races with a bonus to skill defense except for dwarves who also have a strength defense racial bonus which means dwarf rock is slightly better than dwarf sentinel (but not by very much) Skill offensive seems to be the weakest stat so maybe if some values are tweaked for archetypes and races with a skill offensive buff it'd balance that out.
  16. I’m really coping and seething rn matta

  17. I changed +1 skill off/def into +2 skill off/def, and +2 skill off/def into +4 skill off/def Attacking first 10 hp: Attacking second 10 hp This flips things around into having Skill attack/def races and archetypes do better than Str attack/def races and archetypes. Maybe it'd be more fair to change the damage die into a d8 or something and modify health accordingly, thus a +1 or -1 to the d8 is less impactful than it is for d6 damage? idk. Sure, this change means some of the other archetypes get to shine but I'd feel bad for orcs in this ruleset who are suddenly only about as good as halflings are. Skill attack/def bonus reverted back to +1, +2, not +2, +4, d8 damage and 15 hp, attacking first: Same as above but attacking second: Maaaaybe a bit more balanced, idk Looking at it again, I'm most fond of these 15 hp d8 damage numbers. Might tweak more in the future, but just a few archetypes need to be tweaked a bit to make it good. Maybe changing it to d10 damage is what'd finally make Skill attck/def and Str attck/def equal.
  18. I don't think it's an issue that attacking first makes you slightly more likely to win. It makes some amount of logical sense. In order to reduce the increased odds of winning for attacking first you could just raise HP. In 10hp it's 55 vs 45, in 100hp it's 51 vs 49. Obviously 100hp would take ages and nobody would enjoy that, but maybe people could do 20hp combat. The real change is that Skill off/def is just not very good compared to Str off/def. I'll run this again but change all of the races and archetypes with +1 skill off/def to be +2 skill off/def, or +4 skill off/def if it's +2 currently, etc. Sure, the 2d10 system is more balanced towards middling numbers, but only a +1 to a 2d10 matters way less than a +1 or -1 to a 1d6 roll.
  19. Here is my data, each class/archetype combo fights every other class/archetype combo (including itself!) 1000 times and it's win rate is tallied up and averaged. All class/archetype combos, attacking first: All class/archetype combos, attacking second (aka their enemy attacks first): Extra fun scenario: Everyone has 100 hp, in this case it's an attacking first scenario once again. This one is dominated by Dwarves and Orcs. Same scenario but attacking second: Conclusion: You should play an Orc Rock or smth idk. @Jameson_hI have figured out it's Str off/def that matters most.
  20. java program update: i've gotten it to work (assuming ties hit and spirit used over Strength (offensive) if it's higher), i'm currently working out to get the win rates for every race/archetype combination when they go second instead of attacking first. edit: okay it's pretty easy to get the win rates for going second. I have that all figured out now. There is about a 55% vs 45% win rate between attacking first vs attacking second so (as I predicted) it's best to get the jump on your enemy. Also I was wondering why Rocks were so OP and always had 60%+ win rates until I realized that I allowed damage to my Fighter class to be NEGATIVE, thus healing the combatant if they have a very high Str(def) and their opponent rolled low. Orcish rock healing powers OP!!!!!!
  21. writing a java plugin to solve which race + archetype combo is best
  22. I bet a math nerd could figure out if it's better to optimize for Skill attack/def or Strength attack/def
