  4. when are you guys gonna overthrow the autocratic regime?

  5. Please bring back villainy blacklists. Tired of dealing with bad actors that run up to interrupt an event to initiate combat, and then promptly emote "runs away screaming" once CRP is called.
  6. I think a larger scale battle is far more interesting than a slaughter where pvpers hop into a city, kill a few random roleplayers, and leave. As I said, I think the fairest compromise is having two types of raids: a raid with a one hour notice and siege equipment permitted, and a short-notice raid without siege equipment.
  7. Raid tools should only be allowed when defenders get a one hour notice. Very cringe that raiders can insta hop over walls and slaughter civillians because people couldn't rally on a 5 minute notice lol
  8. I think the biggest problem the server faces currently is pvp unionism. Back in the day, pvpers would play within actual nations, but now, almost all the pvpers on the server are a part of a single group that uses their mechanical skill to control server politics that they have no actual stakes in--all for the sake of clicks. This has created a rather toxic server environment that has made fun conflict impossible. From bad faith actors to moderators and a certain admin that enable such behaviors, my experience on the server has drastically diminished in recent months.
  9. Norlandic Flyting Tournament ((Friday 8/18, 5 PM EST)) By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland FOREWORD Flyting, the art of wordplay to belittle one's opponent, is an ancient Norlandic tradition that has fallen out of fashion in recent decades. In efforts to revitalize this custom, a tournament of words shall be hosted in Vjardengrad. Participants will engage in a battle of words, using clever rhymes, inventive metaphors, and quick-witted retorts to outshine their opponents. The victor will receive a prize of 200 minas and the title of Skald in King Balon’s court. Our Will be known to all on the 24th of Thoromir’s Plight, 467 FifAe at Vjardengrad, Kingdom of Norland, BY THE BLOOD OF THE HERALD Balon Eiriksson Ruric, King of Norland, High Chieftain of the Rurikkid, Jarl of Vjardengrad, Defender of The Red Faith, Bulwark of the Norlandic People Hilda Eiriksson Ruric, Queen of Norland, Master of War, Captain of the Red Cloaks
  10. The Treaty of The Northflow By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland and the King of Aaun Issued on the 5th of Caedric’s Kindling, 467 FifAeSF | The 5th of Godfrey’s Triumph, 1937 FOREWORD The Kingdom of Norland and the United Kingdom of Aaun have, due to previous geographical constraints, never been able to maintain proper diplomatic ties. However, now that our peoples have settled in to the new lands of Sólheim, our Kingdoms’ proximity has made it possible to come to mutual accord. ARTICLE I. Sovereignty The Kingdom of Norland and the United Kingdom of Aaun, hereon referred to as ‘the Signatories’, do hereby and mutually agree recognize each other’s sovereignty as independent and autonomous Human realms. This includes the right to fully rule and govern their Realms, territories, and protectorates as they see fit and take a non-interference policy toward said governance. ARTICLE II. Territorial Bounds The Signatories do agree to recognize the Northflow River, also known as the River Petra, as the border between our realms. This shall not be infringed upon by either signatory. ARTICLE III. Free Movement The Signatories do hereby agree to allow for free movement between their lands, allowing their subjects to travel unmolested. This does not extend to criminal acts, suspicious behavior, or moving of armies for warmongering purposes. If a subject of either Signatory is barred from travel, the other shall be informed in a timely manner within a single fortnight. ARTICLE IV. Extradition The Signatories do hereby agree to extradite for fair trial the subjects of their respective Realms should they be found accused of a crime, this only being in effect for crimes committed after the signing of this document. An observer from the offended Realm is authorized to observe the criminal process so as to ensure the article is not violated. ARTICLE V. Non-Aggression The Signatories do hereby agree to offer assistance in times of hardship, however in the matters of war the two shall remain neutral. Offering no assistance to any belligerent in any conflict in which any Signatory is participating, unless it be determined to be on the side of both Signatories. ARTICLE VI. Duration The Signatories do hereby agree to adhere to this treaty for a duration of fifteen years whereupon the expiratory date the Signatories shall meet for renewal. BY THE BLOOD OF THE HERALD, Balon Eiriksson Ruric, King of Norland, High Chieftain of the Rurikkid, Jarl of Vjardengrad, Defender of the Red Faith, Bulwark of the Norlandic People Hilda Eiriksson Ruric, Queen of Norland, Master of War, Captain of the Red Cloaks By the Grace of God,
  11. The real issue with pvp is the pvpers union. Call cope all you want, but as a former member of the union, it sucks for the server and conflict in general.
  12. "It seems the dwarves practice slavery now." The humanitarian Queen of Norland frowned.
  13. "Should start with the Frostbeards," Hilda smirked.
  14. “Balon! Balon!” Hilda shook her brother-husband awake. “The dwarves recovered a few swords and armor pieces off the bodies of their fallen brothers. How can we recover from this insurmountable loss to our treasury?” She sobbed, cradling her incest-baby in her lengthy arms for comfort. @sneakybandit
  15. Elsil'Ceru lowered her chin solemnly for the lost brigand-prince. "A fearsome fighter, he was. May the spirits not judge his crimes too harshly." Sighing, she hung a yellow bandana from her walls alongside the others, each representing a fallen Rustler. "Rest well, llir."
  16. THE SUN SETS TWICE By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland Issued on, 2nd of Caedric’s Kindling 464 Age of Stifled Flame TO THE PEOPLE OF SÓLHEIM, On the 14th of Caedric’s Kindling, a group of bandits, Frostbeards by the stunted look of them, harassed the loyal Farian. Responding to this threat, the proven Red Cloaks swiftly assembled once again, heeding the call to action, led by none other than King Balon himself. With the death of one of their comrades, the Frostbeards lost their nerve. Two of the brigands left a third to die to the Red Cloaks. This Dwarf, in traditional Frostbeard fashion, ran to the nearest body of water to pretend to be a duck, yet in the salt and brine, he met his watery fate. All was well, the brigands easily being pushed from Norlandic Soil, yet the Frostbeards demanded retribution. Marching en masse to the capital of Norland, the Fortress City of Vjardengrad. The bells rang, the horns blew, and the Red Cloaks rallied, accompanied by a host of Nevaehlen warriors. The Frostbeards sent in a spy to the gates to Vjardengrad, however, the honorable Mash the Orc made swift work of the half-man, turning him into one-fourth a man. Under the command of the King of Norland and his Warrior-Queen, the Norlandic-Nevaehlen Host marched out to meet the dregs of Urguan. After harrying the Frostbeards to the Middelan, the King ordered a withdrawal, having removed Frostbeard taint from Norlandic Soil yet again, however, the Dwarven Host would soon re-engage the Red Cloaks at the gates to Vjardengrad. The Red Cloaks, after having had a tankard of mead and some delicious Norlandic Soup, sallied forth once again to slay Frostbeards. It only took one however to break the will of the Frostbeards. With their kinsman’s death, they abandoned his body and the fight, retreating back to their caves to brood. LET IT BE KNOWN Chicken slayed a Frostbeard garbed in full Daemonsteel Armor. Torrhen Ash the Squire slew many dwarves bringing glory to his name. Mash the Orc is to be commended for his capture and slaying of an Urguani spy. Queen-Marshal Hilda's unnaturally lengthy arms proved beneficial in the encounter. TO OUR ALLIES the Vale of Nevaehlen shall not be forgotten for their deeds. Let it be known that the Vale is true to their word and remain honor-bound.
  17. Hilda couldn't help but smirk as she watched the beheading of the Frostbeard commander. "And to think, his very last words were insulting me. What a waste of breath."
  18. ASHEN AUCTION ((Friday, July 28th, 5 PM EST)) By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland Issued on the 1st of The Father's Eve, 469 FifAe FOREWORD In order to fund the recent war effort, the merchants of Norland have gathered together to conduct an auction of highly valued goods. These products range from finely crafted weaponry to alchemical concoctions. From the purest jewels to the smallest trinkets, but they all are alike in their value and practicality. Weaponry Alchemical Product Jewelry Trinkets Alcohol Our Will be known to all on the 1st of The Father's Eve, 469 FifAe, at Vjardengrad, Kingdom of Norland, BY THE BLOOD OF THE HERALD Balon Eiriksson Ruric, King of Norland, High Chieftain of the Rurikkid, Jarl of Vjardengrad, Defender of The Red Faith, Bulwark of the Norlandic People Hilda Eiriksson Ruric, Queen of Norland, Master of War
  19. THE RED CLOAKS By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland EST. 10th of Donovan’s Stand, 469 Age of Stifled Flame The Kingdom of Norland has been facing numerous threats from foreign powers, be it aggressive Dwarven attacks on diplomats in the streets or pretenders attempting to usurp what is not rightfully theirs. In light of these challenges, the Fortress City of Vjardengrad has found itself lacking capable soldiers to defend its walls. While the wall itself provides some measure of protection, it is the valiant men who stand upon it that truly safeguard the innocent. Recognizing the vital importance of having protectors for the city, King Balon of Norland, Jarl of Vjardengrad, has made the decision to raise the Red Cloaks. These men will serve as the vigilant sentinels of Vjardengrad, devoted to safeguarding all its inhabitants from any unsavory elements that may threaten the city's peace and security. THE RANKS OF THE RED CLOAKS THE CAPTAIN OF THE RED CLOAKS (Vacant) The Captain of the Red Cloaks is under the direct command of the King of Norland and the Master of War, charged with keeping the peace in the city of Vjardengrad. The Captain is also responsible for overseeing the training, arming, and duties of the Red Cloaks. SERJEANT The Serjeants are tasked with leading the common men of the Red Cloaks, either in battle or in other duties required by the city guard. They are hand selected by the Captain of the Red Cloaks and, in doing so, are given authority over the Guard and city. RED CLOAK Having completed all their trails a man has proven themselves worthy and able of bearing the Red Cloak. They are given the authority to match their responsibilities and take an oath before the Captain of the Red Cloaks or Master of War. INITIATE The Initiates are those with aspirations to wear the red cloak of the order, to defend their homeland and serve the people of Vjardengrad. But before then, they must complete the trials required to wear the red cloak. THE DUTIES OF THE RED CLOAKS IT IS BY THE Authority and will of His Royal Majesty, Balon Eiriksson Ruric, King of Norland and Jarl of Vjardengrad that the Red Cloaks of Vjardengrad are solemnly tasked with the following duties: I. KEEP THE KING’S PEACE All within the gates of Jarldom of Vjardengrad shall live in the King’s Peace. No threat, foreign or domestic, shall endanger the innocent and all outlaws who should break the King’s Peace shall know the King’s Justice. II. PROTECT THE PEOPLE When danger arises, the Red Cloaks shall meet it; when the innocent cry for aid, the Red Cloaks shall answer it; when the King calls for war, the Red Cloaks shall stand vigilant against any threat. III. DEFEND THE WALLS When the enemy marches forth, the Red Cloaks shall stand guard upon the walls. They shall loose volleys, pour oil, and drop stones upon all who would siege the Fortress City. IV. PATROL THE MARCH When danger lurks within the March, High or Low, the Red Cloaks shall answer with steel and blood. They shall patrol in order to fend any invader or beast from the lands. THE TRIALS OF THE RED CLOAKS Before one can hope to wear the RED CLOAK they must prove themselves worthy of it. To do this they must undertake the Trails of the Red Cloak. THE TRIAL OF BLOODING Is the first trial required of all those who aspire to wear the Red Cloak. To complete this first task the aspirant must select a caged animal to fight and kill before the assembled members of the Red Cloaks, the animal that the initiate decides to fight from the selection provided will prove their worth in the eyes of the comrades. THE TRIAL OF COMMUNITY Shows that the initiate must not only prove themselves worthy to stand beside their comrades, yet also worthy of defending the people of Vjardengrad. To complete the Trial of Community the initiate must help three separate citizens of the city with any task required, the citizen must then vouch for the aspirant before a Serjeant or Captain of the Red Cloaks. THE TRIAL OF SKILL The Red Cloak must be able, with sword, axe, and spear. All aspirants will attend the necessary training under the watch of the Master of War or the Captain of the Red Cloaks. After doing so the trial will be held, where the initiate displays his ability to all in attendance. THE TRIAL OF PATIENCE Is the final trial required to wear the Red Cloak, for this task the aspirant must stand watch during the entire length of a Ruriksting hosted by the King of Norland. This task is required to prove their loyalty to the crown and show that they are able to stand guard for extended periods of time. BEFORE ONE CAN HOPE To become an initiate of the Red Cloak, let along wear the Crimson of the Guard, they must first send in a written application to the Captain of the Red Cloaks. APPLICATION TO JOIN THE RED CLOAKS:
  20. "A good, honorable man, both in and out of battle," Hilda recalled, shedding a tear for the man who had raised her as his own.
  21. FUNERAL OF THE HONORED ((Monday, July 24th, 7 PM EST)) By the Authority and Will of the King of Norland Issued on the 3rd of Caedric’s Kindling, 464 FifAeSF FOREWORD In recent years, the people of Norland have borne the brunt of recurring dwarven aggressions. As such, the Kingdom has witnessed the untimely passing of many loved ones. In their solemn reverence, we shall grieve and pay heartfelt respects to these fallen heroes, for it is the bravery of these men that has upheld our Kingdom through these tumultuous times. Let us also commemorate the momentous accomplishments of their lives, and bid our final farewells to these honored men. In loving memory of… Artyom Eiriksson Ruric Eyvind Kvitravn II ‘the Ironborn’ Our Will be known to all on the 3rd of Caedric’s Kindling, 464 FifAeSF, at Vjardengrad, Kingdom of Norland, BY THE BLOOD OF THE HERALD Balon Eiriksson Ruric, King of Norland, High Chieftain of the Rurikkid, Jarl of Vjardengrad, Defender of The Red Faith, Bulwark of the Norlandic People Hilda Eiriksson Ruric, Queen of Norland, Master of War, Marshal of the Ashguard
  22. "I HAVE ANOTHER BROTHER!?" Hilda gasps, shocked by this revalation.
  23. A QUEEN'S LAMENT Issued on the 7th of Eirik's Defiance, 464 FifAeSF Esteemed citizens of Norland and honored allies, With a heavy heart, I pen this missive to share the harrowing events that unfolded but an Ashen Day ago during our peaceful visit to the Principality of Talar’nor. The feast, meant to celebrate newfound friendship, had been a long-anticipated occasion. Despite ongoing dwarven aggressions, the risks of travel, and my own ailing health, my husband Balon and I resolved to attend. As we settled into the feasting hall, the echoes of a distant dwarven warband intruded upon the festivities. We initially believed the city's towering walls would shield us, but dread soon gripped our hearts as the sounds drew nearer. An urgent Talar’nor guard disrupted the gathering, delivering the dreaded news: the dwarves had breached the walls. In a swift and necessary response, Balon and I were escorted to safety, taken down a series of long, dark corridors that descended into the depths of an underground tunnel. Weak from earlier injuries, I gasped for breath as my ears filled with the distant symphony of battle above. My desire to join the fray, to fight alongside our brave warriors, conflicted with the sobering reality of my limitations. In the safety of the bunker, Balon and I could only listen helplessly to the strife unfolding above. Those battle cries will haunt my dreams for many a night to come. Regrettably, not all were as fortunate as the majority who managed to escape amidst the chaos. My heart aches for the loss of Eyvind Kvitravn, known as 'the Ironborn,' a hero to many, and a formidable warrior. But to me, he was my hero; the man who rescued me from a terrible storm when I had hardly seen three winters. The man who had raised me as his own, and taught me all he knew. To condemn his young son to a life without a father–the very life Eyvind saved me from–fills me with unspeakable guilt and sorrow. To the rest of the world, I beseech you to disavow these heartless warmongers, for their actions are not just an attack against us, but an affront to all realms that cherish peace and diplomacy. In the memory of our fallen and with a burning thirst for justice, BY THE BLOOD OF THE HERALD Hilda Eiriksson Ruric, Queen of Norland, Master of War, Marshal of the Ashguard
  24. Hilda rest wearily in her bed, exhausted and worn from the series of battles she had fought that Ashen Day alone. The abrupt arrival of a courier awoke her from her moment of respite. With a shaky hand, she unfurled the letter delivering the tragic news: Eyvind had not made it out alive. "Why him?" was all she could manage to choke out, through the sobs that followed.
