  1. (Please enjoy to this music for the maximum reading experience) Oh, Hello there. My name is Sir_Niccum. I am a long-time player on Lord of the Craft, former nation leader and briefly global moderator. Although I have not been involved with this server since April 10th, the fifth year anniversary of my account's creation, I still get volumes of messages across various platforms asking "how do i uninstall mine hey do you have the war rules that you wrote up?" Frankly, I have no idea. As I said, I've had nothing to do with Lord of the Craft since April 10th. I've had... more pressing things to do. From these same messages, I have learned that many of you have questions about me. I myself have questions about me, although I don't think you can help me with them. The foremost popular and factual questions are, number one, did I murder my neighbor in Belize? Was I manufacturing illegal drugs in Central America? Were you doing bath salts? Did you actually get a life? I can answer a resounding "no" to all three of those questions. Many of you wanted to know why I possess so many guns IRL. Get real. Many of you have also been wondering if I have really been hiding from all of you using elaborate disguises. Some of you have been making a great deal of fun about me because of it. This image of one of my better outfits should answer that. But there were of course a multitude of questions, like, "Are you really a paranoid schizophrenic?" Honestly people, what kind of answer would you expect if I was? About the only question I did not receive was, "Where did you bury the body of Jimmy Hoffa?" Well, it is absolutely not underneath LadyRebecca's driveway. Furthermore, I've had, over the years, many responses from players who are complaining about the difficulties in the current set of rules that we have. I'd like to read you a few things. "Holy ******* ****. I was pvping for 5 hrs strait on ths server and i had to do a big ass emote that slows the **** out of my pvp. it was the war rules, ofc. my pvp is always really fast but those rules have to come **** it up" Here's another. "The war rules on lotc conflicted with my browser settings and expired my anti virus. when they expired it blocked ****hub. **** the War Rules. **** them in their stupid faces. I hope they all get **** and ***** rot and die a slow agonizing death for limiting my **** use to (see image)" No one should ever have to use such a place. I tried one final time to find my proposition for the rules, so I thought finding the definition of lord of the craft would help me in my searches. I headed over to Urban Dictionary to see what it said. Now you're probably asking yourself why you're wasting your time reading this crap. I originally intended to make an original and serious post like many of my previous ones and, in fact, nearly wrote the entire thing on Google Drive a few weeks back. The problem is, I have temporarily lost my will to work after finals week to finish it. That's where you come in. I'm making all of the raw material available to the public to do with as you wish. Change it, add to it, make a music video out of it, make a video game, run the scenes backwards, change my words, anything that you'd like. But it could be dangerous, Sir_Niccum! The players might not be intelligent enough to comprehend what has been written! Keep in mind, we are using the current system which isn't even fully written down and is passed on orally, all intent on gaining OOC leverage over other player bases. Have you read and do you thoroughly understand Magic Lore?: Ive read quite abit of magic lore in my time on the server, started learning while I was still relatively new to the server, I wont say im the most knowledgable, but I know a thing or two about a thing or two. And as someone who operates largely outside most magical cliques or spheres of rp, I think I have different perspective to offer. What Magic Lore do you hold the most experience with?: Mostly voidal magics such as evocations, sensory illusion, mental magic, as thats the kind I use, playing an undead also provides me with knowledge on how certain magical creatures work and function namely Liches ghosts gravens ghouls and Darkstalkers, Along side a smattering of other bits and bobs of other various magics. Write about a magic-related topic that you find interesting (e.g. How mental barriers work): As of late ive been interested in Coupling, though I dont know about it well enough to do it rply, I find the whole concept really interesting, being able to pool your mana pools and allow one to utilize it to preform greater forms of magic, the chance for a catastrophic failure that could end up with all the gathered mages dead, the sheer scale of the things you could accomplish and working in unison with many mages at once, its badass.   3. So, should holies (paladins/ascended/clerics) all live in one super keep. I feel like that would be an awesome idea, like something the size of the paladins current keep but where all of them live and they have their own special wings, instead of having 6+ bases or around that number altogether. im just harking back to the whole player density = higher player interaction = more rp i dont know a single thing about interactions rply or oocly between the holies but idk i feel like they share the whole destroy spooks sort of thing i feel like the idea would be dope eh what do you all think
  4. MC name: Ziko Character's name and age: Kardel Irongut, 536 Character’s Race: Cave Dwarf of Kal'Urguan What magic/s did you learn?: LIGHT Illusion. On the magic list, however, it is listed as SENSORY illusion. As per my training, Sensory illusion only manipulates the basic five senses and therefore excludes phantasms. I was taught that Sensory illusion was a denomination of Light illusion, and consisted of only glamours and figments. Who/how did you learn magic/s?: I self-taught myself back at the beginning of 2014 when the magic system became more lenient. Truthseeker oversaw me for a while due to our prior relationship with Fire Evocation, but he quit LotC shortly after, when I was around Tier 3. I continued practicing on my own, taking advice from a combination of people and guides, mostly from Truth and Supremacy's Illusion guide. Offer an explanation of said magic/s you learned: Illusion: one of the most challenging yet simultaneously one of the most lenient (at least mana wise) magics. Like its more tactile arcane cousins, Conjuration and Evocation, Illusion utilizes the void to perform an array of tricks and deceptions on the mind, earning it a notorious reputation as the magic of deceit. Unlike its palpable kinsmen, however, Illusion uses the void in an entirely different way; the void, in regards to illusion, is a highway to the minds of others, not a primordial playing ground of flames and creatures. The Illusionist's work is that of using personal experience to create manipulations of sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, and even feeling, and project these specters into the minds of others. The more masterful an illusionist, the more convincing and detailed his illusions are. Master illusionists are capable of changing their appearance, their voice, and even their gait, with careful study and mindful use of their talents. As it is more abstract that its tangible voidal relatives, Illusion is more difficult to understand and to master, but this difficulty comes at many advantages; the illusionist spares his mana as he does not need to expend copious amounts of it to realize voidal figments, and the illusionist can conjure convincing images that can seem all but real. Invokers are taught that the void is a plane of utter darkness, and Conjurers that it is an open canvas for creation, but Illusionists learn of the void as a collective unconsciousness. In the Illusionist's mind, the void is the common thread between the minds of all men and animals, the world's unconsciousness linked to this parallel plane by a tether of mana. Magi are those individuals that can control this yoking and use the void as a space for innovation, but all living beings are inevitably tied to the darkness of the far beyond. The illusionists spiel it that of using his heightened awareness of the void to follow these tethers of energy into the minds of his subjects. Before this explanation is allowed to run its course any further, one must always keep in mind that no matter how real an illusion, it can never truly hurt someone. A figment knife can look real, and its stab feel real, if the illusionist has meticulously studied a knife and the feel of a stab, but it can never cut as a real knife can. Definitely, such gore can be glamoured, but it can never truly be real. Once the illusionist stops projecting his illusion, that gore will be nothing more than a terrifying memory, fabricated by an artist of deception. Furthermore, due to the fact that ALL illusion is based off of personal experience, an Illusionist can never inflict "death causing" pain, as he would have to have died himself to feel such pain. Illusion is limited by the experience of its caster. Furthermore, Illusion must be at least somewhat logical. A truly adept illusionist, one who has practiced this craft of shadows continuously for decades, even centuries, can project even the most realistic deceptions, but if these deceptions are not at least somehow plausible, they will be rejected by the subjects mind as impossible. For example, if an illusionist attempts to evoke the sudden appearance of a monstrous nether demon without a logical pretense, the victim will cease to believe that such a creature could truly exist. In addition, if the victim is to touch such a figment, and that figment does not properly stimulate expected receptors (as chances are that an illusionist has never felt the skin of, well, a demon) the illusion will be immediately broken, and further illusion becomes much harder once the victim is aware of magical deception. Continuing on with the discussion of Illusion itself, Illusionists are very unlike other arcanists. While the fire evoker might spend a few days connecting to the void, the illusionist must spend weeks, even months, perfectly attuning his mind to the void and to the minds of others. Usually, for the first couple of weeks of training, all the novitiate does is imagine the blackness of the void, and create simple flashes of differently colored lights in his mind. This stage of training is imperative to the further development of illusion, as without a strong link to the void, a tyro could never even begin to anticipate connecting to foreign minds. After the connection stage, the novice will usually move on to practicing these flashes of light on weak willed animals. A favorite of mine were especially plump swines, which, being too busy contributing to their corpulence by gobbling down copious amounts of rotten Vaerhaveni carrots, were too preoccupied and dull to even begin to resist mental encroachment. Often, the novice will simply conjure flashes of light in the minds of animals, feeling greatly fatigued after doing so. A novitiate might also attempt to trespass upon the mind of a sentient being, but this often results in loss of consciousness due to the initial difficulty of yoking to a sentient brain. The flashes of light produced by the aspirant above are examples of illusionary figments. Figments are one of the main types of Light, or sensory, Illusion, the other two being Glamours and Phantasms. Figments are objects entirely created by the illusionist, existing in reality in no shape or form. In the hierarchy of tricks, they are the second most difficult after the rudimentary Glamour, which alters only certain sensory properties of an already existing object, like color or perceived texture. Often, a tyro will begin by performing a set of glamours and figments to hone their skill, becoming more adept in the formation of these illusions with practice. While glamours and figments are bound to sensory changes only, the elusive phantasm can manipulate the very fabric of sentience itself: feeling and emotion. Phantasms are by far the most difficult forms of illusion, as they take significant skill compared to their lesser brothers. A phantasm inflicted upon someone will not work if that person does not often naturally feel the false emotion. For example, to evoke the feeling of insatiable greed in a dwarf, if the mage has experienced such, is quite easy due to the nature of this race. On the flipside, bringing up a sentiment of generosity will be almost wholly rejected by a dwarven mind, as it is such a foreign feeling that the mind cannot accept it. The brain itself is also very good at resisting figments if they are alien, and therefore most figments must be pushed, necessitating the use of large amounts of mana that can tire the mage. The upside to phantasms is that, unlike Glamours and Figments, they are seldom logically deniable, as no-one is "immune" to emotion. As the illusionist becomes more skilled at his craft, he will often delve into more complex illusions, purposely studying objects, feelings, and sensations to be more adept at calling upon these deceptions. By the time an Illusionist is proficient in all three areas of mental deception, they may want to practice casting their illusions upon multiple minds. Such a skill is extremely hard to master, especially when it comes to a grueling phantasm, as it takes painstaking practice to cast a double phantasm, let alone a triple or quadruple one. As the illusionist's skill increases, his capabilities and the believability of his work follow a similar pattern, becoming almost indiscernible from logical reality. While a completely illogical illusion can still be broken even at the most masterful of dispositions, surrealism becomes so surreal that one may have genuine difficulty in discerning whether the figure before him is real or another figment. There are, of course, some skills that even the most masterful of illusionists cannot master. Invisibility is impossible, as is deathly pain and vivid illusions of near death experiences. Vanishing, however, can be accomplished via the utilization of blinding light and blurriness of figure. Illusionists cannot implant thoughts into a person's head: that is the dominion of the Mental Mage, another illusionary art to be discussed at another time. Furthermore, no matter how hard an illusionist tries, no illusionist can cause physical harm to someone. Post traumatic stress can be a consequence of skilled illusion, but never physical harm. While I could ramble on forever about the complexities of this magic, I will stop here, and hope that the above has proven my experience with this magic subtype. Illusion has always been one of my favorite magics to employ, more often used to conjure up images of butterflies emanating from a smoking pipe than figments of distracting sounds and surreal experiences. Just like any other magic, it is too broad to explain through text, made even more difficult by its hard-to-grasp abstractness. Provide evidence you’ve garnered to said subtype: As per the magic system of yore, overseeing was simply sending screenies to the person. I used to upload my screenies directly to Skype and send them to truth, but I can't go back that far, as this was in 2014, and therefore cannot provide material corroboration of my skills. I hope the detailed description above will suffice. I do have a few people who can vouch for me: James, Tirenas/man, and Cyndikate can testify to my illusion prowess. Jistuma saw me RP illusion once or twice, but other than that, only those first three can really provide reliable testimony. Do you have a magic you are dropping, due to this app? Are you willing to sacrifice any to become a event department member? I'm willing to sacrifice my two free slots. What race / group do you think your events would best cater to? If none in particular, give an example of the type of group that your events would entertain. By now I've roleplayed as all races (excluding subraces). I am very fluent with the Human, Dwarves and Orcish lore. I have yet to read more about the Kharajyr and the Elvish lore: Ancient Elven, history etc. What do you believe are key factors for a successful event? Make the Event fun for participants, make it full of surprises and have complex twists in each scenario. Maintain the excitement throughout and leave it up to the participants to anticipate of what will happen. What strengths could you contribute to the event department? Are you knowledgeable in lore or great at organizing? I am knowledgeable in the majority of races lore including Subraces. Because I previously roleplayed a Bishop of Courland I was frequently looking over the Ancient History + Modern History. What specifically intrigued me was the variety of creatures, and I began brainstorming ideas of how I could bring these prehistoric creatures back into the server. For example: 'Hair Leech' which latches itself onto ones scalp, and it's lifecycle is basically that of a flea. I thought it could be interesting to bring as an event, especially because poverty is overwhelming on the server. Which also means lack of hygiene, which may attract these irritating buggers. Why do you want to be part of the ED? My main reason to be part of the Event Department is because I have many interesting events locked up in a private google drive document which I want to use for future events. My goal is to start small eg: Small towns/villages, and gradually work my way up to do large events for a substantial amount of players. I also want to be part of the team, because I want to include the new players who have joined the server. Create three distinct RP scenarios/events based on LOTC lore that you would organize. These are pitches to the managers and the lead, not to the community. Note: not all of the group must be handled at once. Eg: 20+ people via 5 person increments in a dungeon. (1) Event for 3 A small group of three travellers traverse through a mountain, trudging their way through the snow. A severe storm with icy gales hugging against their frigid faces seemed to prolong as they made their journey towards the summit. They may come across a cavern, remnants of bones litter the opening. As the group ingress towards the entrance a miasma of pungent, rotten meat enter their noses. In the middle of the cavern rests a cenotaph, seeming to be in pristine condition. The words 'Judas Agnarsson' have been inscribed. The trio's gaze quickly turning towards the right as a clamorous noise startles them, they see a large wooden door blocking the entrance to the rest of the cave... Two diminutive figures donned in hoary robes, various chains draped over their shoulders. They bore two distinct medallions which hung from their neck, in the centre of the pendant was a burnished emerald that owned a lush, verdant glimmer. Gloves of soft brown suede were tucked into brass rings at their side, their digits both coiled around the helve of a crudely made dagger, bearing an odd hue. It was sheathed into a gilded scabbard. If the group steps forth the two figures would halt them, brandishing their daggers. "Halt, sightseers. You may not take another forward, or face your demise" The imp on the left let out a hoarse cackle, keeping a tenacious grip upon the hilt of his blade. "If you want to be granted access to this door then you will beat us in a duel!" The one on the right bellowed, lumbering forward from the door. Presuming the group manage to kill the two, they can rifle through their bodies searching for a key and open the door. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Event for 5-10 The group of people flounder through a waterlogged marsh, the soil seeming to suck their feet inside with each step they took. The group stifled their noses with their forearms as the stench of excrement filled their noses. Wreathes of mist swirled around in the moor, the journey ahead being difficult to see. Long, doleful cries cries could be heard in the distance; but despite the groups yelling out to come to the sobbing things aid, they got no reply. The once tranquil atmosphere, soon dulled turning to a sinister one, the group...frightened decide to huddle together, moving at a slow pace. Suddenly a scrawny vodnik comes into view. His knees were submerged into the mire, his face seemed to have moulder, clothes were nothing but thin rags exposing his chest besmirched with blood. The rattle of his breath was lost under the steady drone of the flies hovering about the group. He let out an eldritch screech, lugging towards the group, his body was immersed in mud. Reeds seemed to coil themselves around his torso. Three more Vodkins lumbered from behind, their claws each bearing a serrated edge, their teeth making a constant chatter. Together the Vodkins advanced on towards the group, their physique hardly discernible in the shadowy twilight of the forest. With each slow movement that belied the speed it was capable of, oozing globs of phlegm dripped from their chins. Their blood had turned to a thick, turbid brown, the creatures were grotesque with matted hair. The contorted figures were almost devoid of skin, they all shambled closer towards the group. Their chests slowly rising with each shallow breath they took, as they neared their facial features became discernible, their jaws dislocated showing their torn tongues and blood-stained teeth. They grinned lewdly, severed arms, flesh hanging like tattered rags from the shoulders. Events for 20+ In the newly found continent Isles of Axios, rumours have been spread about a Cyclops that dwells in a forest. A large group of wielded adventurers set out to delve further into the unknown territory, adorned in ferrum panoply. They come to a cease when they come across a shore, willows lined the bank of the stream; in the distance they could see a small island. After hours of work, hollowing out a trunk of a tree they manage to propel it into the sea. Their eyes straining to see through the murk of squall, they eventually reached the island setting coarse woollen cloth doused in a flammable liquid which the group rekindled as they galumphed towards the forest. The aroma of cooked meat permeated through the humid air, the group; had an air of lethargy around them as they continued to proceed through the forest, their eyes leaden with sleep. If the group had been paying attention to their surroundings they'd notice a boulder, that had been worn smooth from erosion. All ambient sounds would promptly conclude, as the group prowled down low making their way towards the boulder. Next to the boulder was a circular entrance that had been carelessly left open, perhaps to trap wandering animals? The group scurried into the entrance, abruptly halting when they notice in the inky blackness a huge Cyclops, towering over them at 6 meters tall. He peered down towards the group, and with an uproar the cyclops hollered in wrath towards the armed group. The Cyclops wrenched it's arm back, thrusting it forward using the momentum from his large club, the hilt of it being wrapped in an ornate blue silk embellished in golden embroidery. The Club was elaborately decorated with multiple shards of wood. The cyclops teeth, eerily incandescent, emitted a strange blue glow and were as sharp as a carbarum blade. The cyclops had been dormant for several years up until the people of Vailor entered the Isles of Axios, it awoke... The cyclops nose; the size of a baked potato dripping with gelatinous yellow streaked snot, skin a sallow green and one large protruding eye which seemed to dart around it's cavern. His frontal eye was better than any hawk. Saliva drooling with silent precision from his pendulous lips it gave the orders to leave his cave, will the group be hastened to obey them? ((If the group win)) The cyclops had a sloppy gait as he approached the group, his clutch on his club releasing. His blood had turned into a thick turbid brown, the Cyclops collapsed upon the floor, the life that had once dwelt in it had gone and it is safe from the perils of the Isles of Axios. His limbs spread at awkward angles, a putrid smell soon became apparent beckoning flies to cautiously hover in mid-air, not too close but close enough to indulge in the nasal nightmare. These creatures act as a final chance for some; The opportunity to walk the lands of the living once more as a soulless undead. They subsist on lifeforce; it is what fuels their decaying forms and halts the degradation of their soul-shadows. They derive this energy from corpses, gnawing on fresh flesh to absorb the lifeforce that remains. Alternatively, they may offer themselves into the thrall of one who can provide them nourishment. Morghuul exist in a constant state of undeath. They fear neither blade nor flame, as undeath has dulled their senses. They are able to endure trials far beyond that which a living body could, though the decaying state of their bodies leave them with a significant disadvantage. Plate armor and heavy weapons are beyond the strength of rotting muscle and sinew, as is the casting of any magic. Instead they must rely on lighter armaments such as short swords and chainmail to carry the day. While they may withstand strikes from a normal blade with little issue, gold acts as a minor ward against them, causing great pain when it strikes. Holy magic is the true bane of these creatures, and in its presence a Morghuul is likely to flee. Though they can be killed, Morghuul can never truly die. Drowning, evisceration, even fire cannot stem the march of unnatural life for long. Even it they fall in battle, eventually these necrotic beings will reform. Nobody truly knows how this happens, but there are several theories. Some say their mind locks itself in a deathly slumber while the body lurches away to a secluded place to repair itself. This process takes roughly a month before the creature is in functioning order, meaning that for the time being they are incapable of even the simplest movements. OOCly, this means that once a Morghuul has died, they are unable to be RPed for an IRL day or longer. Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it: Nope. Scaling is also an issue, I wouldnt want people getting frustrated because so much is going on, many emotes getting put out at once, either doing small groups, larger groups with more et to help, or do managable waves of PvE mobs.What strengths would you bring to the team: Ive played creatures before, ive been involved in many events fighting creatures, ive been in the magic community for several years and like to think id be able to rp such things out in an event.Why do you want to be part of the team: I want to step up to the plate, try to make people enjoy some quality rp, want to help move other events along and help out if others need more than one actor. Curious you'd go along, following the goblins into a hatch, you ask how does this contraption work and they would tell you its a submersible, able to drift in the depths of the ocean. As the party settles in and the submarine of sorts sets off, the goblins tell you their strange tale. "We was floatin along like normal, scourin the briney bottom for sunken wrecks, seeing if we could find some chest of mina or summat, when the cap found an underwater cave! He ordered us so of course we went, and to our surprise we were able to find a pocket of air in there! dry caverns under the sea if you can believe! The Cap, being the curious sort he is disembarked, wantin to wander the cavern , we stayed at this here boat of sorts, but something wasnt right. We heard the Cap screamin a long way off and well uh, we arnt the bravest sort so we lit outta there fast, but you are gonna help us get him back right!" The group, being enterprising heroes of course agree to help, the submarine eventually making it to the aforementioned cave. Disembarking they see signs of a struggle, scuffs on the cave floor, blood splatters leading further in. The group wanders in search of the wayward captain when the come across a pair of men battering each other, identical in every way you would like be confused. As one spots your group he screams and points at the other "Help me! He's a skin changin freak!" the other man , growls out, flinging Captain 1 off, "Dont listen to that one, he's trying to escape this cave!". You're group is tasked with choosing who to believe and who to kill, choosing the right one, you and the party wound the the creature, it flees into the caves and you split off to find it. Using the lack of cohesion the skin changer changes into one of your group members, and tries to lie and manipulate the members of the party, again you are tasked with who to believe and who not to, the risk being in you dont want to hurt your party members, but want to stop the creature from getting to the submersible and escaping to the world above. Event 2: You are approached by a hooded thief sort of man, asking if you have heard the recent rumors of a ruin being found nearby, he'd then ask if you and a party of others would like to investigate these ruins, maybe steal some baubles before anyone else can get to them. You acquire a group, the prospecting thief then leads you to the ruins. The party enters the ruins, the place would seem benign at first, they proceed steadily into the ruins, encountering minor traps, small pit falls, tripwires, parkouring, requiring the group to keep aware of their surroundings and problem solve to avoid unwanted risks. As the group makes it to the rumored treasure trove, the sly thief having tailed at the back of the party during this venture would then offer to take the lead, taking point as they enter the treasure room, which contains only a few items of note, he'd deftly ****** the few items and bolt for a doorway in the rear of the room, laughing at the party left behind , setting in motion a series of traps resulting in the crumbling of the ruins, flooding rooms, collapsing ceilings, the party being spurred to flee as fast as they can or be buried alive, upon reaching the exit and getting free of the ruins, they'd encounter the thief outside, snared by a trap he himself set off in his haste, leaving the the group with the moral dilemma of killing him in retribution, or taking the items he took and leaving him to his devices. Event 3: A wizards tower appears on the outskirts to your local town, a board posted out front invites any and all to come inside at there own risk. Assembling a party you would enter the tower, amazed by the scale you are greeted with a maze, wandering around you would her growls and gurgles throughout the maze, you are not alone it seems. With nary a warning you are beset by the Mad Wizards minions being made up of PvE waves of mobs. Fight your way through or fall by the wayside, passing through twisted rooms, furniture on the ceiling, solve puzzles, a room with several doors, all but one leading to ruin likely involving redstone. During this the Wizard waits at the apex of the tower, throwing echoing taunts spurring you on, maniac laughter, they'd come across rooms where specific skills are needed to move on, perhaps a wall of roots blocks a path needing a druid to handle it, you may come across a sentry you'd need to fool with sensory illusion, or mayhaps you'll need an expert archer to shoot a button in an inaccessible place. The idea being it will take people from different walks of RP life to get through the towers challenges, have members of separate groups interact and work together that wouldn't usually RP together. As you approach the tower top to confront the Wizard, the Wizard would close off the entry behind the group , commencing a fight after light hearted banter, preforming various mageries the group may be hard pressed to win, though having worked together as a cohesive unit they could use the surrounding to their advantage, The Druid may have some nearby potted plants grow and entangle, the archer may bring down a chandelier from above, so on and so forth, upon defeating the wizard the body would burst in a colorful display, leaving the adventurers to take whatever objects were left behind, and making for what they think is the exit, upon taking it they would appear outside at the base of the tower. I want this place to be fun and a hobby, not a business that people can stroke their egos with. Right now it feels like bans are handed out like candy, warns are prevelent, and people aren't respecting one another. We're all friends here, and I want to ensure a community that works together to build a better server. Forget the status quo. How do you feel individual GMs should present themselves?: A GM shouldn't be afraid of directly communicating with players one on one. Most of the times when interacting with a GM, they present themselves like robots. At the end of the day we're on this server for fun, and the GMs should sympathize with players and be able to directly coordinate stuff with them. Player interaction is key within being a good staff member. How do you feel the GM team collectively should present itself?: Game Team members are meant for moderation and order. They aren't meant to baby the community, but to guide it and act as a judge in most cases. The Game Team shouldn't seclude itself from the community, nor treat themselves on any pedestal higher than a regular player. This isn't a job, it's literally volunteering for a minecraft roleplay server. We're all players at the end of the day, and the disconnect felt between player and staff runs deep. Excluding hacking, harassment, and blatant malice; the GM team should leave it to the players to make ban reports rather than acting on our own judgement. This is the communities server, not the collective staffs. Skylez: Skylez is by far one of the best event team members I've seen so far. His ability to change his style for different audiences and attitude during events is bar none, the best I've seen in a while. Pureimp10: Boby and me have only recently become acquainted, but I scratched his back and he's scratched mine. What is your relationship with the members of the current GM Team?: Despite what might be seen, I actually interact well with the GM team in private. I've no qualms with any of them personally; despite what my posting might suggest. Rebecca and myself get along well, I talk to Cablam often, and I even like JVQ. I see myself interacting well with the current GM team and bridging the gap between player and staff. What are your finest and worst traits?: Calabreeni Pros Community first: I'm an avid believer that the community is the lifeblood of the server, you'd think this would be common knowledge. Community input should be the peak of the mountain when concerning really anything. This isn't a staff junta meant to place our singular views on the server. We represent the community and the ideas they would like to see implemented. Determination: When I want something done, I try and give it my all to get it done. Over the past two months I've put more time into the server than I ever thought I would, be it building the Westerlands or now my peasant village. Tell us about your time on Lord of the Craft: Following weeks of watching the Yogscast Shadow of Israphel series, I knew that I wanted to be a mineman. Having found Lord of the Craft through a means long gone to me, I joined the server in Aegis as a ripe eleven year old lying as a sixteen year old. Having wandered around, joining the Teutonic Order, being edgy for a long while, before ultimately making my leave in Asulon: I later returned in the Fringe to land a spot in a small community of old Teutons playing vikings. I still wasn't really feeling the server and left all the way until Vailor; and thats really when my time on the server really began. For starters, I met Faiz whom I consider a very close friend. Having served in the Mubarizun; the OG Qali guard, I finally got a taste of the community. From there, I met Zhulik and Shady. Shady and Zhulik really left a lasting impression on me, be it through their leadership or creativity in creating groups. They allowed me a chance at leadership in Hallowvale Contracting, the mercenary company as an advisory role where I began to meet a lot of close friends, such as Eagles, Shannon, Unbaed, NJ, Kav, Jake, and bisnitch. I began to get more involved in the server through various RP groups, most militaristic and RP orientated in fashion: Be it the White Riders, Larian Regiment, Sappers, Company of the Westerlands, or Kingdom of the Westerlands. During that time, being banned for a brief stint for Xraying and living through the Free Kincaid movement, I really began to speak up and get invovled in community discussion. Long story short, those very same close friends gave me the opportunity to lead a Kingdom, which at the beginning was big league successful and considered the most active nation on the server at one point or another. What parts of the server are you most interested in?: The community and longevity of the server. I joined Lord of the Craft when I was a straight up edgy eleven year old. The fact its been around for so long, and the people I've met here has really been what keeps me here most. Other than yourself, who of the current applicants would you like to see on the GM Team?: Nazdus: Despite his app being "denied" in this lame application wipe, Nazdus and me met a while back and I've really been amazed at how he came to the server. He roleplays, knows his stuff with PVP, and is generally a good guy to talk to. In an age where mechanics based GMs are strived after, I couldn't see anyone more qualified than Nazdus be accepted. Smawton: This guys an ideas man, his recent thread was filled with no-brainer ideas that should be implemented today. The fact he wasn't accepted is really shocking, considering what he wants to do for the server as a whole and the orc community. ryno2: Same situation as Nazdus, he knows his stuff. I don't see why not giving someone a chance is possible, theres a trial period after all. Ryno produces well thought out information concerning Mineman warfare, respectable.     LORE PROPOSITION - TINFOIL ARMOR A Harian Tinfoil Warrior, Circa 1600 In a world where magic runs rampant alongside the growth of an ever present aura of paranoia, it is of the utmost importance to defend oneself against mind probing huns. Innocent men and women are becoming deceived by such vile magicians, leading them to believe that they are the opposite gender if not already resulting from their pineapple illatian pastries. Tales of such illusory and probing have spread far and wide, and thus the demand for magic resistant armor is high. As a result, smiths across the land, most notably Haskill of the Freeman’s forge, have taken to pressing melted tin to a papyrus thin state so that it may be molded with ease. With this invention, denizens across the lands may sleep in peace- and in tin, to ensure that their internal viscera is not morphed to that of a bestial creature. Tin foil equipment will allow the user to deflect magical influence and attacks without flaw depending on its crumpled state. Akin to sound proofing, the more crevices and bumps a piece of tin armor holds the more resistant to magic it is. For example, a smooth sheet of tin would be useless to magic whereas its crumpled counterpart would be impervious. Despite its extreme defense to magic, it's delicate and thin state makes it quite useless against any other form of attack. To provide balance to magic users, quite literally anything (bar magic) can destroy this armor. Arrows can pierce it, fingers can poke it, and more importantly, one could rip it by simply walking. Despite its detriments, however, tinfoil armor remains the go-to headwear for those fearing illusionists. Waldenian Soundproofing, circa 1364 To craft Tinfoil Armor, one must gather tin through roleplay means, melt it, and then press it into its thin state. Once this is accomplished, one must then carefully craft it through roleplay means. Should you roll anything less than a twenty in its careful construction, the armor will be torn. Once in combat, should the armor be damaged or torn, the exposed area would then become vulnerable to magical attacks once more. Mechanically speaking, it may be possible to statgen base chainmail to have hugely negative defensive debuffs (practically none) with its durability also being modified to be destroyed within two hits. Furthermore, due to its light nature, if a mechanical armor set were to be created it would hold no speed debuffs. The way one would determine whether someone was wearing tinfoil armor or not is purely dependent on their skin, which should look something along the lines of: Should this lore be accepted, I believe it will add an additional level of role-play not yet seen on any medieval fantasy server. This document is purely science based, and now that the current year is 1600, a time in which pirates roam, the need for tinfoil equipment is necessary. However, should this lore not be accepted, I truly believe people will still craft such equipment through roleplay means even if it woiuld not provide the additional magical protection as they would hold the belief that it truly does. I have kept this short and sweet, like an innocent child, for I believe I've nailed my points across rather effectively. For those who are too lazy to read, I shall summarize in a tl;dr. Tin Foil Armor should be magic resistant depending on its crumpled state (coating your armor in tin will not do anything unless it is pure tin!). Tinfoil headgear should prevent illusion magic and mind probing from affecting the wearer. To craft a single piece of armor, or the tinfoil itself, smiths must roll a perfect 20/20 in role-play to provide validity to the tin foil's stability. Tin Foil armor has no durability nor defensive buffs to ranged or melee.

What experience do you have using forums, or as a staff member on this server?: As having a small time as an FM before, I know how the system works, how the different Pex things work and all. Also, being on the AT again has made me quick with moving, naming, and editing topics once more. Why should you be a Forum Moderator?: I don't believe in being a biased person when it comes to something like Moderation. I don't care if you're my friend, someone who I don't get on with, someone I don't know - you do something out of line, you get punished for it. I also believe in actual moderating, rather than instantly just warning someone for something, or removing a post out of the blue. The set rules and guidelines are all balanced and allow for players and staff alike to enjoy LotC at their own level of role play. What are your finest qualities?: I’m very active on the server if this can be looked at as a plus, I like to think I’ve also become much more patient and understanding then I had first joined the server. I have a firm grasp on the rules and how to follow them too. I’d like to think I’m a good listener and can cope with problems players might have between themselves, or how rules are upheld on the server. What are your worst qualities, and how could you improve these aspects?: I know that I have been brash and bull headed at times with having arguments with players in the past over petty things. I’d have to say that this is the main problem I’ve had in all the time I’ve role played on LotC. Though since joining the ET, I’ve put a great amount of tempering to alter how I deal with things on a general aspect. The main boat being moved was one of the larger ones in the game and I could feel the mod becoming frustrated with the process and trying to make it fit. I feel If I was in this situation I would of remained calm and collected and taken my time to make sure the boat was perfectly lined up. Currently I sit afk in game and browse the web on my second monitor and wait for an RP discussion to ensue or a PM and I quickly jump the the server and handle whatever I’m being tasked with. #What are your finest qualities?: Great work ethic, i’ve had several jobs in real life throughout high school and i’ve been complimented on this attribute numerous times. I also come with a level head and I am unbiased to any situation that presents itself. I also am one of the most organized individuals you will ever meet, RP wise you can ask the Gold Corps leaders, they know I had to have everything organized and in my opinion I believe things get done much more efficient that way. #What are your worst qualities, and how could you improve these aspects?: Being bothered to not fulfill the task at hand. I find it frustrating when i’m working on something and am interrupted for something petty. I could improve this negative quality by just being more relaxed and try to better my multitasking skills #What members of the Staff could you look to for guidance?: One of the most influential people i’ve met in game and this doesn’t even have to do with him being a staff member is Cracker. Time and time again i’ve come to him with questions and he never lets me down and always gives me an answer no matter how busy he might be. Another find GM i’ve come to know through Modreq’s is Wyrnn. Wyrnn is the type of GM i’d like to be, no matter the Modreq or issue i’m having he ALWAYS is in a good mood and handles them properly and very quickly. When Wyrnn is online and I make a modreq he handles them quicker than other GM’s (In my opinion) And RP wise Farmer Billy Bob (Telanir) is by far my favorite character in game, in my opinion he is one of the best when it comes to RP and delegates his time to enjoy himself in character and handle issues as a Staff member. #Who do you not get along with on the current team?: I don’t have an issue with any of them, really all of them have a decent attitude towards me and the feelings are mutual, there is definitely no salt with any staff member. #How much free time do you have? Easily 4-6 hours on a weekday and probably double that on a weekend. Why should you be a Forum Moderator?: I know the difference between a tasteful joke and something that's out of order, as well as reading pretty much every thread that's on the forums these days. App for Lock-Picking Lock-picking was removed a little while ago due to the removal of Vas and also due to that, everyone had free use of lock-picking, and with that many people were beginning to see that locks had very little use on the server if someone could break into them with a few rolls and a willing GM, and this was a fair point, and so lock-picking was limited to only doors, then after that only to doors in raids, but eventually it was completely removed, though this did fix locks being completely useless due to everyone being able to pick them at their own whim, it took away quite a big part of criminal RP, making many thief orientated guilds and characters null and without an ability to do what they do, the Master Thieves Guild for example, at the time a very renowned and popular guild that provided fun and fair RP, and in the same case, the Black Hand, the Hatters, etc. With the removal of lockpicking it was no longer fun being a criminal anymore, there was either being a bandit which everyone seems to love, or stick to kidnapping and slavery which, though can be fun when done right and done rarely, gets boring if done too much and many characters even if they’re criminals are morally against slavery. Criminal RP was quite a large part of RP before lockpicking was removed, as I might be overstating it, but criminal RP except for murder, was probably a 1/4 or 1/3 of RP in cities like Abresi. I mean criminal RP had to be some of the most fun RP on the server when lock picking was there, you'd pretty much need one other person to help you and go off to start your own RP that could go into anything from there, sometimes leading into city lockdowns, guards searching buildings and basements for you, becoming fugitives, etc. Planning your get away out of a city of people that are out to imprison or hang you while you're down in some dingy sewer or hiding out in your secret slum hideout, making alliances with shady characters, starting city gang wars, fencing what you’d stolen to your local untrustworthy salesman, breaking into a rich family mansion, just a miniscule list of the many things you could do when lock-picking was around, providing RP for everyone if the criminal was a decent RP’er, for the criminal(s), the guards and any citizens involved. It added its own depth of RP, making people look at certain RP in different ways, and opening up fun and diverse ways to RP. As well as what I’ve said, a good portion of players RP’d in this way and many left after lock-picking was scrapped, this wasn’t just maybe 5 or 10 people, people like this were numerous in tens, probably not going any higher than 100, but quite a chunk of players used to RP in this way, and bringing lock-picking back will definitely bring a few of them back, or even most of them. And, many people saw criminals like this as edgy and not too fussed about how they RP’d, when in actuality most criminals were great RP’ers, many guilds that I RP’d with having their main rule being to provide fun and fair RP, even stating that if the victim didn’t feel comfortable ooc, that we should drop the RP altogether, which they all abided by for the most part, many ‘edgy’ criminals either being the minority or just being tagged as ‘edgy’ because they wore a dark cloak and used a weird weapon. A few actual scenarios that occured due to lockpicking, skip a few paragraphs if you don't want to read a pretty long story, this isn't very well written as it's just supposed to build an image of what it was like when lockpicking was around (Though not everything in it was lockpicking, lockpicking influenced many criminals to be and continue to be criminals): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My old character, Adam Calden, or 'Charmer' later on in his life to those that might remember him better from his criminal name, was in need of a new partner in crime due to his old one moving on to other things once they started to do more serious crimes from when they were children, picking pockets, begging and conning, and in this he began listening in on rumours of criminals and a potential partner, ( AKA I made a post on the forums looking for someone to work with my char :p ) this ended up with my char meeting up with a more skilled thief known as Bronn or Jistuma (I think he had several characters) than Adam (becoming more of a master and apprentice thing) in a tavern, sitting in a shady corner, discussing what they could offer to each other. This lead to quite a while of fun RP, from kidnapping a Blood Raven's (At the time a group of bandits thieves and killers) sister unkowingly and being almost hunted down, to breaking into a mannor to find an anvil that we had to discretely bring pass a White Rose checkpoint to a viable fence to haggle a price ( Many more but with Bronn/Jistuma I can only remember these as the most notable ones). After a while Adam/Charmer was in need of another person to assist him in his criminal endevours as his last partner had gone into hiding, (Think he stopped playing that character to play his none criminal char) but Adam, being a criminal moreso for the thrill than the minas, obviously still loving the minas as his thieving career funded his almost disease like gambling problem, got bored of the seemingly simple jobs he pulled, wanting for more, but to pull off more risky jobs he would need more than another partner, he would need a group of likeminded individuals to help him with his wishes, so he searched in vain, but after a while his reputation had earned him the attention of a widely heard about, yet rarely known guild, the Master Thieves Guild, ( Again, made a forum post, applying for it :p https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/26538-the-master-thieves-guild/page-34?hl=%2Badam+%2Bcalden%26%2339%3Bs#entry769268 for those that are interested in what the guild was like ) And, though his time with the guild was short, he became a fully fledged member, bearing the brand of the guild, burnt into his rist, (Sadly timezones made it hard for me to take part in most of their heists ;( ) he decided to use this brand as a resume of sorts to get into other criminal guilds, and soon enough it did, he got into a conversation with a man named Corvo, the leader of a local Salvian criminal group called the Fishers; muggers, burglers, pickpockets all. And with this Adam/Charmer went into another chapter of his life, performing several road holdups, burglaries, kidnappings, criminal rivalry, etc. Going to war with the Dark Brotherhood for a short time, what seemed like at the time the hole of Oren raiding the abandoned manor we were using as a place to keep the people we ransomed and sold into slavery, attempting to take over Salvus from the inside, smuggling in a small army to take over the keep, ending with most of us dying or running away, causing a mass riot in Salvus as a distraction to rob a well noted manor. We at one point started using the Claxdon's island fort to hold the people we kidnapped, every now and then pitting them against each other in fist fights if we ever got bored, even leading to some of the slaves being recruited into the guild. Eventually Adam/Charmer decided that he would take another step in his life, he started an alliance of criminal groups, the Hatters, the Regents, The Black Hand, The Pumpkin Bandits, making agreements to pretty much help each other out when they're in need, take out rival groups, etc. In theory this would've worked to perfection in my opinion, but it wasn't meant to be, and the alliance eventually broke apart. The group Adam had been apart of for a large part of his adult life had disbanded, its members going on to have families, going out on their own, joining other criminal groups, or dying in the act. Adam decided to do something similar to this, working outside Abresi as a farmer for a short while, but this lifestyle wasn't meant for him, so he joined his old friend Matthew Claxdon, or 'Pretty Boy', leaving his discrete hobby of burglary to go into Tavern and shop hold ups, pulling of a large string of them without too many problems, but this, again, wasn't enough for Adam and so he joined another group of criminals, The Black Hand, one of the previously allied guilds, continuing what he was best at, and eventually becoming the second hand of a large scale drug lord, past this nothing notable happened on this character, so I moved on to another character, Johnny. Again, if you just want to get to the point of the post, I'd skip through this part, it's just for people interested in what it was like being a criminal that could lockpick. Johnny was an orphan, begging and pickpocketing in the slums of Old Abresi, a small child at first, using his height to his advantage when pickpocketing and getting past and away from guards. Where his further criminal life started was when he got locked in a chest after failing to pickpocket one of the older kids in Abresi, due to his size and stature as a child, he fit perfectly inside. In there for half a day, screaming and shouting for help, though none answered, except for one (TripleWing, can't remember his rp name ) , a shady looking man, smart dressed, well spoken, obviously quite wealthy, but there was a certain ambience around him, the sort that made you wonder his true intentions and profession, this man, hearing Johnny's pleas for help, told him to calm down and knelt himself down infront of the chest, looking around briefly, he pulled a small piece of metal from his jacket, a pick, which he went on to unlock the chest with ease, letting Johnny out of the chest. The rich man asked Johnny how he got locked in the chest, to which Johnny replied truthfully, too fatigued to lie. This peaked the rich man's interest, and so he offered Johnny a job, asking him if he would mind working for him, doing what Johnny did best, stealing, and without hesitation Johnny accepted, a home, bed and warm meals, any orphan boys dream. So the rich man bought Johnny some new clothes, got his servants to bathe him and began to teach him how to pick locks, Johnny, at first quite clumsy and brutish with his technique, began to become quite adept in picking locks after many months working at it, he was offered to accompany his teacher on a job, pulling it off with ease, his teacher keeping an eye out on the guards while he slipped in through an open window sill he had unlocked with ease, and made off with a sizeable take, offering to halve it with his teacher, to which he refused, saying that Johnny had earned it. A few years on and Johnny had set out on his own in the city of Abresi, eventually acquire a very odd formal invitation to join a criminal guild, odd thing being that it was formal, well written and with an expencive looking piece of parchement, the Galbanenza Gentlemen, and so he accepted, a small guild, not violent in their intent, but willing to defend themselves. Johnny had manned its pawn shop, bought so that the guild could fence off its stolen goods. The guild pulled off many jobs, some successfull, others not so much, none that were too notable, like breaking into a well fortified castle, but manors and small shops. But the most notable part of his time with the Galbanenza Gentlemen was the gang war between them and the Red Tide, another criminal guild, more brutal and violent in their ways, and more numerous and less selective in their members, this went on for several years, initially starting due to a failed negotiation, Johnny had, ignoring the warnings from his fellow members of the Red Tides recklesness, arranged a meeting with the leader, Rand (Leonidas) which was innevitably a trap, but beforehand Johnny was offered to switch sides, however several of Rand's men jumping him and taking him into one of their hideouts in which Johnny was tied by his hands an legs and tortured for information on his guild, Johnny held out, telling them false names and what he thought was common knowledge, though most of it was believed, Rand wasn't happy with the amount that was given, and so Johnny's eye was taken out, and so Rand left Johnny there, leaving with his men to go out and act on the false information, Johnny managed to break out of the hideout, kicking in a glass windown and rolling out of it onto the ground, however, Rand came back with one of his other men, and grabbed Johnny, dragging him through the guardless slums of Abresi and on to who he said was apart of the GG, after a long conversation of Johnny attempting to trick Rand, he'd had enough, taking out a knife, ready to slice Johnny's throat, before Johnny's accomplices had come out of their nearby pawn shop, easily overpowering Rand due to the largely uneven numbers, killing one of his men while he got away, Johnny, surviving, but having lost his eye was near to death and now half blind, but still alive. Though, this victory was short lived as the Galbanenza suffered many defeats from Rand and his more combat ready thugs, the rivalry continued on into the Fringe, where the Galbanenza were laying low due to the Oren and Uruguan War, Johnny was in need of minas, so began to bandit the roads, though this did not work out for him, as due to the war, the roads were frequently patroled and empty due to many fearing to leave their homes of fear of getting picked off by one of the sides. So Johnny, not too patriotic, but in need of minas, joined the Shields, never going above the first rank due to his little involvement in anything other than guarding the local tavern. Johnny had never been in a war any worse than the small scale gang war conflicts, and the first one he was thrown into was one that took heavy casualties on both sides, a very bloody battle, but one that Johnny had survived, Johnny had lost his unit, and was alone in the battlefield, the city had been taken while the remaining men defending the castle, only scavengers and some stray dwarves outside the walls where Johnny was, he came upon several Dwarves, rushing to kill him once they saw him, at this point all Johnny could do was run, but to his luck a unit of what seemed to be mercenaries came to his rescue, dispatching the dwarven unit with little loss, Johnny went to thank the men that saved him, to see that the leader of the group was Rand, the man that blinded him and killed many of his fellow thieves, but Rand didn't order his men to kill Johnny, simply saying. "Guess we're on the same side for now, come with us if you want to help retake the city, or leave, either way we'll leave you be." And at that note, Johnny had Thought quite differently of Rand, owing him his life and respect, and so he joined them to retake the city, with difficulty and heavy losses they retook it, launching an attack to the Dwarves flanks while they were distracted from the front. And so the war went on, eventually the Galbanenza Gentlemen had begun to split and disband, however, they recieved an offer from an old guild, the Black Hand had offered them a place in their guild, offering high ranks and revenge on the Red Tide, which they took, however Johnny's heart was very much split on both the Red Tide and the Black Hand. Johnny had joined both, though only really stayed apart of the Red Tide at the time, but he had already been initiated into the Black Hand, meaning a lot more than Johnny thought, but Johnny always had a knack for making bad decisions as both the Black Hand and Red Tide were at war with each other. This was soon found out by the leader of the Black Hand at the time, Mithius Dalma (Jonhan2), and for it he was lured into an inn, upstairs into one of the rooms where a second member was, having been asked to talk about something important, to which he was jumped, tied up and beated, being asked for information of the Red Tide, to which Johnny told falsely, but it was seen through and Johnny had begun to talk about more sensitive topics, names, locations, bribed guards, etc. His screams were heard however from downstairs, and several good samaritans came to his aid, however those that came to his aid were innevitebly killed, and so was Johnny soon after, or at least near to it, being stomped several times in the head before falling into a deep sleep in which he awoke at the Cloud Temple. After several years in which the Red Tide had disbanded due to the death of their leader Rand who was publicly hung among most of the other members of the guild, Johnny, was again a lost child, no home, no minas, no food, no friends, all that he used to know were either dead or lost contact with him after they left to raise families. But in the later days, to Johnny's surprise, he was offered a place in the Black Hand again by the same man that had tortured him time and time again when he got captured, if Johnny were younger he would have spat on the offer, rather begging in the streets than living like near royalty, but Johnny had taught himself to take nothing personally in a business like this, so he joined the Black Hand again. After this Johnny had formed his own smaller group of thieves still apart of the Black Hand, being very selective with his members, choosing only the most renowned and skillful thieves he could find, however, he never made the mistake of making this group known, as in Johnny's experience this only ever ended in witch hunts that ended in needless death. Johnny's band of adept thieves went on to Break into the High Elven Silver City mining into a weakspot on its upper wall, at the time thought to be impenetrable, robbing several jewelry shops, and a large fortified shop owned by a well known figurehead by the name of Tuvya. After this was when Lock Picking was removed so there's not much point in continuing this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Vas were going to be brought back along with lock picking I was glad that lockpicking was being brought back and indifferent about Vas because I had written a few when they were a thing and I was good at writing them, even enjoyed writing them, but I’m probably in the minority on this, but it had gotten my hopes up that actual criminal RP was coming back, however, when Vas were removed again, so this was the point I thought about bringing this idea up. This is where I bring up what I thought might be a good proposition to bring back lockpicking, instead of Vas, or giving everyone the ability to pick locks, I thought this might be a good compromise, a lockpicking application, wouldn’t be too long or hard to fill in, and a teacher system where the applicant would have to find a teacher before filling out the app, prevent people that would just apply for it simply if they wanted to be able to do it, but more so for players that need it to progress their own thievery RP, primarily people that’re mainly focused on criminal RP. The teacher system could lead to various quirk characters that might just be focused on teaching lockpicking, such as an old retired master thief that wants to pass down his knowledge to other aspiring criminals, a slaver that buys slaves to force them into stealing for him/her so as to cut his losses without any physical harm coming to the slaver, or even a long dead ghost that yearned to be infamous, but died short of that goal and now roams, hoping to teach someone his knowledge in an effort to have his legacy live on through another, the various characters that could come from this are many. The app for lock picking would be done like the old MAs, but be shorter. So you would need to have a mentor help you learn how to pick locks, making it so that if someone wants to pick locks they would need to learn it from a teacher who is a master at it, and it would be most likely that this teacher would only teach people that would most likely further pursue criminal RP. Professions could also come into this, lockpicking possibly coming under tinkerer, probably not required just to pick locks in general, but maybe for making lock picks and/or other contraptions that could be rp'd to get through locks, maybe some sort of small explosive cherry bomb, a lock pick that doesn't make a loud sound when it breaks, (When lockpicking was a thing picks would break if the criminal rolled less than 15 out of 20, making the GM overseeing the player make some sort of local announcement describing a pick breaking) an acid that has a chance to melt through the lock, (could be under alchemy instead of tinkering) etc. Though all of these items would have the same effectiveness and chance to break/pick the lock, but they'd possibly have other advantages outside of making it easier to pick the lock. If the teacher system won't happen for any reason, then the lock picking app would be done with an application that would, among a few other things, have to include screenshots as evidence that the applicant has put effort into learning how to pick locks through RP, or maybe have a few people vouch for the applicant, however this paragraph isn't a certain idea, as I can see how it might be seen as more of an annoyance than something to make sure people do this partly through RP. And this is pretty much all I’ve got to say, might’ve missed some points, but I think my idea and point has been sent across, anything you have a problem with in the post feel free to tell me, I’m sure I’ve not been too biased or one sided, but if you think I have then say.
