  1. From ashes and to ashes; conception until demise; everything must come to an end. St. Terrell may have not been around for too long, but his impact showed up differently. Known as Terry by friends, or father Shipp, the zealot made it his goal to rejuvenate the dim in spirit and better those who didn't deserve redemption. On the day of his demise, the man started it as he did any other, with a prayer: "Oh GOD, please instill me with the power to accept those who I cannot change; I request you burden me with their suffering and show them the light, the joy of life, rather than condemning them to live a life of sin and torment." This is how the man started every day. He went above, and beyond in his community, abstaining from food so as to 'face others' qualms.' by enduring the punishment of his creation. Continuing with his day, Terrell stopped by his slice-of-life spot: the Garden of Serenity. Quickly shuffling across the riverbed, the idol hobbled over towards a stone slab juxtaposed to a tree - it lay perfectly with the sunlight beaming down towards it; resting in the middle of the rays was the bread that the man seemingly had been cooking. Taking the bread, the zealot soon rifled it into his satchel as he ventured off towards that day's mass, planning to distribute the loaves there. After mass had concluded, the shoeless priest made his way towards the back of the Armenian church he frequented - starting to distribute his meal to the needy. It was only there that the true test of virtue happened, as a peasant put a blade to him, requesting all coinage or anything of value. Not being a materialistic man, St. Terrell opted out of conflict as he gave the man all that he asked for, as the thief needed it more than him. But alas, not caring about capital only goes so far when you are being robbed as his would-be murderer became enraged with the lack of wealth is shown as he plunged his knife into the man. Terry crumpled towards the ground, a smile dawned on his face as he muttered: "I forgive you."
  2. In Servitude of God A man dedicating his life to God henceforth. Circa 1837 / 389 E.S. To commit yourself entirely to God is to live according to His virtue in its entirety. Forsaking the pleasures that God has granted for a simpler life, of both hardships and struggles. To serve God is to promulgate His virtue through deeds and dialogue. As a servant of God, it is your responsibility to preserve the integrity of the flock. There are many ways to serve God, such as some listed below. For those graced by God with a skill of the sword, they may put it to use serving the Supreme Order of the Exalted Owyn; protecting the Church from any dangers that may come. For those graced by God with a skill of the quill, they may wish to take vows and serve as a monastic; living a virtuous life as they promote God's word through theses and exemplary deeds. For those graced by God with a skill in speaking, they may wish to become a cleric; preaching the Lord’s word and performing sacraments as they shepherd the faithful towards the green pastures that the Lord God has given unto us. As God is without doubt, the most merciful and the most righteous, there are some that will try their best to deceive His flock and to attack His holy institution. However, time and time again has shown that if the faithful are able to collaborate together to become one united flock in times of trouble, we not only persist but we thrive, as we should always. As Canonists, it is not only our responsibility, but it is our duty and obligation to protect each other and most importantly our faith from any that wish to impose upon our traditions and our values. While the Church has witnessed the widespread population of lands owned by Canonists, the clerics that shepherd these faithful are drawn thin. For those devout in faith, we encourage that you come to your local church and join. You will find fraternity, respect, and most importantly, faith and virtue. Anders Cardinal Jorenus, Patriarch of Jorenus, Prelate of the Priesthood 9th of Gronna ag Droba, 390 E.S. You visit your local church, a familiar place where you’ve made peace with God many times before. You would think to yourself, ‘If my life were any different, I could have been a potter… or even a weasley merchant.. But God has been there for me, and I need to be there for him.’ You would approach an office desk with an aged man occupying it. He would smile warmly at you as his wrinkles would distort, making smiles of their own. ‘Might you be interested in joining the Church?’ the priest would bestow a hopeful gaze that felt almost as if he was seeing right through you. ‘Yes, I think it’s finally time.’ you’d remark, your mind racing through the future possibilities that this career under God might entail, ‘Splendid, you’ve come to the right place. I just need to ask a few questions.’ he would say to you, smiling all the while before he begins his questioning. What is your baptismal name? (Your answer) Your age? (Your answer) You’re right in front of me.. but for record’s sake, what is your race? (Your answer) Do you have any family? (Your answer) How do you wish to serve God? (Your answer) Where would you prefer to be assigned if accepted? (Your answer) The cleric’s smile would twinkle as he shakes your hand, dismissing you. ‘You will surely hear back soon. God be with you, child.’ As you leave, you smile knowing that life will finally be better now with God at your centre. 3. ♰ To Pledge Oneself to GOD ♰ A devout Canonist receiving the rite of Ordination, circa 1850 | 403 ES “To commit yourself entirely to God is to live according to His virtue in its entirety. Forsaking the pleasures that God has granted for a simpler life, of both hardships and struggles. To serve God is to promulgate His virtue through deeds and dialogue. As a servant of God, it is your responsibility to preserve the integrity of the flock.” - Venerable Cardinal Anders, former Prelate of the Clergy There is no calling more virtuous than pledging oneself to GOD and embracing His love and virtue. Each Canonist has their way to show devotion to GOD. The Holy Knight fights for his faith against those who threaten to destroy it. The humble farmer works diligently to feed his children. The Priest preaches and shares the love of GOD. Of those ways to show one’s devotion, the one this letter concerns is the Priest. Our Priests of the Canon are successors to the ancient Priests of Owyn. those virtuous Harrenite freemen and the modern Priest may have little in common, but they share a deep love for GOD and His word. When Owyn anointed the brothers Evaristus and Clement as bearers of the laurel of Horen, he made a promise to Humanity. A promise that there will always be a Church, and there will always be a Keeper of the Canon. I do not take this promise lightly, nor will I stop protecting the promise made by Owyn so many centuries ago. We priests of the Canon bear a great burden: the burden of our flock, the burden of our promise, the burden of our faith. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now, I will not say otherwise: the job of a Priest is not an easy one. It requires deep devotion and constant humility. There are times you question why you got ordained, and your faith will falter at times. But, it is also a deeply rewarding, deeply spiritual calling. So I ask of you: does that sound like something you want? Is that the path GOD has put you on? Be you Human or Orc, male or female, there is a place for you in the Clergy. Francis Cardinal Albarosa, Archbishop of Albarosa, Prelate of the Clergy 6th of Tobias’ Bounty, 1850 You push open the large, wooden door to your local Church and step into the foyer. Murals and stained glass windows line the sides of the room, breathing colour into every corner. Most of the individuals portrayed in the Murals you recognize: the Exalted, High Pontiff Saint Daniel I, Saint Jude, Saint Julia, Saint Catherine, and many more. Those devout Canonists you’ve looked up to all your life. You know this is the right decision. As you approach the desk, the middle-aged lady sitting at it offers you a kind and warm smile. One of the first female Priests. “Do you want to join our Church?” She asks, hope in her eyes. You offer a nod and she cracks a big, bright smile. “Wonderful,” she exclaims. The Priest takes out a piece of paper and pen, and then she looks up to you with big, happy eyes. “I’ll ask you a few questions, dear,” she chimes, before starting: Alright, what is your Baptismal name? (Your answer) Ah, a truly beautiful name. And, how old are you? (Your answer) I know you are right in front of me, but for the record, what is your Race? (Your answer) Once again, for the record, are you male or female? (Your answer) Do you have any family, dear? (Your answer) Hmm, and how do you wish to serve GOD? (Your answer) Where do you wish to be assigned? (Your answer) She smiles as she shakes your hand. “I am sure we will hear back quite soon, dear,” she assures you. You exit the Church with nervous excitement. A new chapter of your life is about to begin. 4. The Palatine Guard Order of All-Saints Est ca. FA 1730 “In Hoc Signo Vinces “Cum visu procul raptas aquilae regnaturi sumus vicit” "In this sign, you shall conquer. “With the eagles far sight we shall reign victorious” -Saint Harald of Vuiller , ca. 1730 HISTORY OF THE ORDER The Palatine guard was established and led by Saint Harald Vuiller of Vuillermoz during the years of 1730 within the borders of the Holy See of Vuillermoz. The Order was firstly set forth due to the urgent need for protection of the noble canonist flock and its people during the time. From this Harald thought each of his members not to raise a sword against any who had accepted GOD into their heart and that any soul could be saved and was worth saving no matter race or age. These teachings and moral code is what our Order is based and built on. Any found member to be found breaking these morals and teachings attacking the innocent be handed punishment found fit for what crime they have committed. When St. Harald passed to the Seven Skies in 1761 his Son Johan Vuiller would take over from his place as Heir of House Vuiller. he would commit to the teachings of his father and working closely with his Holiness the High Pontiff James II and the rest of the Curia the Order would grow in numbers for years it blossomed until a disagreement with the late King Sigismund of Haense the city and Order would suffer, from being told that the Crown of Haense would see it as a act of war if the borders of the city would move from their current position. This would make the city cramped farms not able to grow larger and feed the people. From this now Knight-Regent and Cardinal Johan would admit defeat and advise his people to move from the town to ensure they would survive. After meeting with his Holiness after this and Johans close allies in the High Council his father had created they would together ask for aid from the Holy Orenian Empire. The late Emperor responded to their ask of aid and they were given new land next to the commonwealth of Kaedrin. With the help of the Grandmaster Ademar Castello and Cardinal Manifred, Johan would be able to build up their new town. here they would once again be at peace and with that change a new name for the town was ready for the world and it would then be formerly known as The Holy Palatinate of Aquila. Some years later the Grandmaster Holy Sir Ademar Castello came to Johan asking to be released from his position as Grandmaster as his age had started to catch up to him, Johan agreed to this under the terms that Ademar would stay in his position until they had found a person fit for the responsibility. After Johan and Ademar felt they had found two candidates the title ended up going to Jensen Amador, a sermon would be hosted where all Holy Knights and Squires were invited as the responsibility would go from one to another. After the ceremony was finished there would be a celebration feast within the walls of the Vuillerian keep until nights end. The day after Johan and Leonid would quickly get to work and their partnership would see a blossoming within the Order. But with a lot of new members and change it is important that we remember where we started. Our Order is built on the teachings of St. Harald, and these shall be our code of life. We are an Order dedicated to the protection of any man, woman,, elf, mage, dwarf and “hobbit” alike. any living creature that has accepted God's eternal light and love into their life and soul shall be protected unless they stand as a threat to the rest of the noble canonist flock. If the day ever comes where we have failed in this task and faltered away from our Holy purpose and these rules and values the Order shall be no more. painting of our patron Saint and founder. Saint. Harald Vuiller ca. 1754 A TIME FOR CHANGE With the move from our home in Arcas it is only fit that some changes are made within the Order. Not only because we are in a new land, but also with the change of leadership with the Grandmaster, Holy Sir Leonid Amador has brought some fresh air into our Order and it is only fit we make some changes with that in mind. Therefore I would like to declare and show some of these changes. THE COAT OF ARMS With these changes our Order has welcomed a new Coat of Arms, this change has been made to better represent what our Order stands for and its purpose. We see the flaming sword of the Archangel Michael, the Pontifical Orb, the Lorraine cross all held by the Eagle that represents our order. THE ARMOUR OF THE HOLY KNIGHTS The change of armor is something that has been in the work for quite some time. It needs to produce the right amount of protection as well as letting our Knights move with ease during a battle or confrontation. Therefore we have long worked on and planned with these new armors. They combine the colors of our Order with the dark mist within its metal core, giving it a outstanding look easy to recognize. Painting of a Holy Sir during the last battle against the Inferi Ca- 1790 RANKS OF THE ORDER For the change in our Order as our ranks fill up with new life and members we have decided to make changes to these ranks, their position and purpose. The following ranks are as follows. Auxiliary Auxiliaries are the reservists of the Palatine Guard. They do not swear vows, but make a nonbinding promise of obedience. Auxiliaries may discharge their promise at any time; likewise they are not bound to activity requirements. Though it is also those from the Auxiliary rank that will be chosen to become squires if they have proven themselves in their service to the church. Squire The duty of a Squire lingers around learning as much as possible from their mentor. this not only being about how to swing a sword but also on the matters of canonism, history, demons, phantoms, combat and the different cultures around us. they shall also learn how to behave around different people and situations. Once their training is complete they are to take their Oath to become a Holy Sir or Holy Dame. They will then be the sword and shield of the canonist flock, the church and its members. Holy Knight A Holy Knight has taken an oath laying down a promise to Godan that they shall and will serve and protect the Holy Mother Church and its members and the noble Canonist flock. They are to be accepting of all who have taken God’s love into their hearts and offer them protection no matter if they are a bishop or beggar. Holy Knights are also to take a minimum of one squire under their wing to teach them in the ways of the church and our Order. A Holy Knight may choose their Squire but for the squires to be knighted their mentor (The Holy Knight) must bring them forth for the Grandmaster or Knight-Regent for them to decide if they are worthy of Knighthood. Holy Knight Prior A Holy Knight Prior are as officers within our Order. They are given special responsibilities and task within the order and are the Grandmaster’s helping hands to make sure our order is at its best at all times. They will be able to host trainings, patrolls, and smaller missions with the other Knights & Members, once finished they are to report back to the Grandmaster and Knight-Regent A Holy Knight Prior may choose their Squire but for the squires to be knighted their mentor (The Holy Knight) must bring them forth for the Grandmaster or Knight-Regent for them to decide if they are worthy of Knighthood. Grandmaster The Grandmaster is the overview and controls the Order. only answering to the Knight-Regent himself. The Grandmaster holds the power of accepting new members, having them take the oath to become Holy Knights, host missions, accept missions or bounties delivered to the Order etc. The Grandmaster is to keep the Knight Regent informed at all times of what changes are happening, how our ranks are being filled, how they are doing, reports from missions, and all other information that has to do with the Order itself. As their power over the Order is only matched by the Knight-Regent it is important that they fulfill this role. They must be able to teach the Knights of our teachings and way of life. The Grandmaster's powers are only limited to the following. The Grandmaster can not decide for the order on a political standpoint, either if this being in an election or in the case of war. This decision is for the Knight-Regent and High Pontiff to make with the input and acceptance of the Grandmaster being present during the meeting. The Grandmaster can not change or alter the armor, coat of arms, name, patrons Saints or teachings without the acceptance of the Knight-Regent. The Grandmaster can not strip any Holy Knight of their titles without the blessing of the Knight-Regent. Knight-Regent The Knight-Regent is in full control and power over the Order itself, but will give out the position of Grandmaster to his most trusted member. The Knight-Regent will often be working more in the political part of the order, keeping their relations with the canonist nations abay, taking part in important meetings, and keeping a close interaction between himself and the Grandmaster and Holy Knight Priors. He is to command and the Order making sure to protect the Holy Mother Church and every single member there off, he shall also make sure the land holdings of the church is under protection, such as Cathedrals, abbys, alters etc. Candidates for Holy Knighthood are granted that rank by swearing the following oath before the Grandmaster of the Palatine Guard Order or the Knight-Regent of the Holy Palatinate: “I vow to never falter, to obey and guard the laws of GOD, who is the one true Creator. I vow to be the sword and shield of the Church of the Canon and her faithful, to fight for them when they cannot protect themselves. I vow to resist the temptations of Iblees and strike down those who have fallen under his dark rule. I vow to keep my post as Holy Knight until death takes me from this realm into the next.” With the response by the administering official: “Then rise, [Name], and join your brothers as Holy Sir/Dame [Name and Epithet]. You are a Holy Knight of this land and all the lands of the Church of the Canon, sworn to protect the people of the Canonist faith. You shall be fair and just, defending the innocent no matter their rank: beggar and bishop alike.” Signed~ Holy Ser Leonid Amador, Grandmaster of the Order of the All-Saints Guard Singed~ Lay-Cardinal Johan Vuiller of Aquila, Horens Giant Knight-Regent of the Holy Order of the All-Saints Guard. Holy Sir Head of House Vuiller. Knight of the Black Sepulchre & Cardinal Judge Headmaster at the University of St. Sixtus Protector of the Church of the Canon and its faithful
  5. Muun’Trivazja Addition - Patrons, Magic, and Disconnection LM Note: This lore has been made to address a few issues. Firstly, to fix the lack of a disconnection ritual in Muun'. Secondly, to add in a compromise made to help non-Kha learn Muun', while also ensuring that they don't learn purely for the magic. Thirdly, it clarifies on outside magic usage, which was also missing from the Muun' lore piece, but is already an accepted thing. This has been looked over by the original lore re-worker (ForeverGinger) and one of the more prominent users of Muun' (Adam_barnett). With this addition, it should help spread the Metztli culture and will hopefully start putting a more positive light on Kha instead of the hate they currently receive, so please take all this into consideration when voting. Background Metztli, having left the Mortal Realm to their own devices, returned upon learning of the move to Axios. This return was brief, as Metztli only wanted to see if her children were safe and sound. Upon seeing this, Metztli was relieved. This relief was short lived as she saw their connection to her withering, with less and less Kha taking up the role of priest. Deciding that her name should be something known across the realm, something to be said with pride and followed by the masses, Metztli reached out to other descendants. Upon finding a few that fit her purpose, she sent them visions of her history and culture, ranging from sacrifices made in her name to the power she was able to bestow upon those with a connection to her. She made the few descendants an offer, eternal life in exchange for eternal servitude. As the Daemon of Time, this was not a difficult task for her. Upon accepting her offer, Metztli reached out and warped their soul, making it so the body of those the soul inhabited would be stuck at a certain point in time. However, Metztli recognized that if she disappeared again, the descendants could be liable to slacking off. To counter this, a clause was put on their immortality, ensuring that the changed descendants would forever serve her will. In addition to this, Metztli reached out to a few of the last loyal priests, offering them the same deal. Together, a total of four beings were created, being dubbed as Guardians of Metztli. tl;dr Metztli came back and created Guardians to keep an eye on things while she was away. Metztli ordered the Guardians to spread her name and teachings across the realm. Guardians The Guardians exist to carry out Metztli’s will. In this case, Metztli wants her name to be taught to the realm, her culture spread towards those outside of just her children to make up for the withering population and loyalty. Creation: Should a Guardian position open up (if someone pk’s or something), then 2 Guardians can commence a ritual where they channel their power into someone else to turn them into a Guardian. Should a Guardian no longer be around to serve the will of Metztli, they shall be returned to their mortal self, soul intact and still connected with the Daemon, just not on the same level as a Guardian was. PK Clause: Should a Guardian betray the will of Metztli, they will find their souls torn asunder and perish. This includes attacking a child of Metztli (Kha) for an unjustifiable reason, disconnecting a worshipper of Metztli for an unjustifiable reason, and not spreading the teachings of Metztli. Physical Changes Guardians are inherently spectral beings, weak to both fire and gold. They take on the appearance of faceless humanoids, gently emanating Metztli’s energy. Due to this spectral form, they are only able to weakly interact with the world around them, so they wouldn't be able to pick a sword up to fight, but could weakly push a door open so they can slip past. They are only capable of using Muun' magic while in their spectral form. Knowing that a Guardian would be in danger outside of the community that he Kha had carved out for themselves due to the amount of violence directed at her children in the past, Metztli devised a new way for the Guardians to go about. When a Guardian goes into their spectral form, their physical body gives way to the amount of energy they are channeling. Akin to how a Transcendent's body is warped to a different plane, the Guardian's broken down body is warped to Metztli's realm. Upon returning to their physical form, their body is brought back to the mortal plane. During this process, with the help of Metztli's control over time, the Guardian is capable of disguising him/herself. Reaching out to different timelines that could have been, the Guardian is capable of imitating a form of him/herself from any given timeline they are apart of for a limited amount of time (e.g. the Guardian may have been a High Elf in a different timeline, which the Guardian then imitates in this one). A noticeable flaw in this is that the physical form degrades over time, turning back into spectral/"Original" form. This doesn't occur at first, but becomes more noticeable over time and appears as though the Guardian's form flickers between their disguised form and their spectral form before stabilizing, along with cracks of glowing energy forming along their body towards the end before they eventually give way to their spectral form. This disguise lasts four days(Hours) and requires a 1 1/2 hour cooldown before the Guardian can take on a physical form again. Please note, the ability to change their form takes five emotes to accomplish. Using this to harass a city by creating multiple disguises to cause trouble is bad villain RP and theirfor against server rules. Due to not being a true body and only a physical manifestation, the Guardians are not required to eat/drink/sleep/do normal people things, but can if they choose to. Their physical body is not disturbed by cold or heat, but will take damage like any other person. If the person dies while in their physical or spectral form, it will be considered as a normal death and all the standard death rules will apply(e.g. no remembering what occurred during your death). Examples! Abilities A Guardian has the innate knowledge of how to summon and dismiss the Stone of Metztli, create Moonpools/bless water, along with how to attune. They also know the ritual for disconnecting a rogue priest (more on that later). Their powers are not greater than a normal priest’s, but their body is capable of channeling Metztli’s power longer. At the beginning, the Guardians who did not previously know Muun’ will be inherently at T1 in all three subtypes. However, Guardians are capable of quickly learning Muun' and can progress much faster than a normal Priest. The Guardians are given an innate knowledge in Muun', over time being able to progress themselves (LM/MAT supervision) should there be no teacher around, ensuring that they are capable of progressing in the magic. Due to the Guardians no longer aging, they aren’t affected by heavy uses of chronoshaping as a normal Priest would. However, instead of rapidly aging, the Guardian suffers from a drastic drain of energy. After chronoshaping a large area, the Guardian will have to retreat to a moonpool to recover. tl;dr Guardians have contractual immortality along with a PK clause as they serve Metztli. If a Guardian goes inactive due to IRL issues, their character will just turn back into a non-Guardian. Limit to this is being offline for over a month. Guardians are spectral entities, weak to gold and fire. Can’t use other magic in this form, only Muun’. Guardians can take on a physical form of a descendant/Kha, but can’t use Muun’ in that form. 5 emotes are needed to change. They are not required to eat/drink/sleep, but can do so without repercussion. They are required to go out and spread the word of Metztli, along with manage the current Priest community and ensure that anyone willing to learn can. They are NOT stronger than master priests. A cap of 4 Guardians is in place. 2 non-Kha and 2 Kha. 2 Guardians are required to make another. Disconnection By summoning the Stone of Metztli, a Priest who has mastered the art of Muun’ and has been taught how, can remove a connection to Metztli from a rogue priest. This process involves the Priest channeling his/her energy through the Stone and into the rogue priest. Then, with great strain, the Priest is able to use their power to take hold of the connection within the rogue before severing it. This can only be done by a Priest who has mastered the art of Muun’, and if an inexperienced Priest were to try, they would find themselves unable to fully sever the rogue’s connection to Metztli. Example! Reasons for Disconnection In order for a disconnection to function, the rogue priest must have broken the will of Metztli. This would entail the wrongful attacking of a child of Metztli (self-defense is an exception) or a fellow Priest or the desecration of Metztli’s name or culture. By no means can a Priest be disconnected simply because he is unpopular amongst his peers or because he has angered someone by one of his actions that had nothing to do with Metztli. tl;dr Disconnection is now a thing. You can only be disconnected if the person has gone against Metztli’s will. Attacking Kha and fellow priests outside of self-defense, ignoring the duty to spread Metztli’s name, and slandering/working against Metztli by following another Aengudaemon/Spirit is ground for disconnection. Disconnection is a ritual that must be taught and can only be used by master Priests. Outside Magic LM Note: This is already accepted according to Benbo, but it would be good to have it included in a lore piece to make it clear to anyone such as the MAT when they look into the matter. Metztli is a rather lenient Daemon and so long as a Priest is not going against her, she is fine with them learning whatever magic they want. Voidal, dark (aside from Fja’, Fi’, Shade, and Dark Shamanism due to conflictions within the soul), and “other” (e.g. golemancy) are all acceptable to learn. However, one must remember that a Priest will become fully blind upon mastering Moongazing. Should this occur, it will conflict with the rest of their outside magics and cause them to be unable to practice it. Deific magic is not allowed to be learned as Metztli sees it as a betrayal to rely on foreign deities. tl;dr Muun’ can be learned alongside voidal, dark (not fja’, fi’, shade, dark shamanism), and “other”. Deific is not allowed. Red Lines/Restrictions Guardians-Normal race buff, unless decided otherwise by LT. Showrace change to Guardian. The Guardians must actively go out and spread Metztli’s teachings to the realm, ignoring this results in PK’ing. Guardians can only use Muun’ in their spectral form. Guardians are weak to gold and fire in their spectral form. Guardians can’t imitate the form of an existing descendant. Guardians can only use outside magic in their physical form. Disconnection You can only be disconnected if the person has gone against Metztli’s will. Disconnection is a ritual that must be taught and can only be used by master Priests. Outside Magic Muun’ can be learned alongside voidal, dark (not fja’, fi’, shade, dark shamanism), and “other”. Deific can’t be learned Blindness can not be ignored when learning moongazing and it will affect all outside magics accordingly. If fully blind, the Muun’ priest won’t be able to use voidal or other magics that require sight. Purpose Simply to spread Muun' to all races, and make it not a 'Kha magic' anymore. Muun' is a cool magic too! Credits Flamboyantmingo (writer) Fury_Fire (Contributor/editor) Mephistophilian (Contributor/Guy who chewed us out for lore) Questions? Ask us here!
  6. The Phases of the Moon: (Second Generation Muun’Trivazja) “Strands of fate now do entwine, / Both mind and soul are my design. / Safeguard not my children near, / Mine is the vessel of love and fear.” ~Visions of Nightfall I Introduction: As the moon waxes and wanes, so does the goddess who embodies it and the powers of those who worship her. The Kharajyr, through their faith in Metztli, were granted a boon from their divine mother. Yet as the seasons change, and the tides ebb and flow, so does the magic of the Kha’ change and twist in new and surprising ways. After their move to the Xerdali Isles, the Priests of the Kha’ were struck with a trinity of powerful visions, all foretelling great changes in the life of the Kharajyr. The first came to pass in the destruction of the old island and the rise of a new Tla’. The second to come was the rebirth of Muun’Trivazja. In the past, the Priests of the Kharajyr wielded great power in the form of Daemonic energy, yet like the ever changing moon above, their powers warped and twisted in great and terrifying ways. While the very essence of the magic remained with the Kha’, the nature in which it manifests itself differs greatly from what it once was. Muun’ and Metztli: Metztli is the goddess and creator of the Kharajyr. Old tales speak of her spiriting away children in the dead of night, with only the stars to witness, to bring to an island paradise of her own making. There she fused the children body and soul with the ocelots of the island through many twisted, magic-riddled experiments. Casting the husks of her failures into a pocket plane known as The Ordium, Metztli toiled on until one night the fruits of her labors were rewarded. Upon the beaches of the island stood an ocelot in human guise, his fur white as freshly fallen snow. The first of the Kharajyr was born, Tla’Jhaan, he of the purest form. Metztli was filled with the maternal need to protect her creation, to nurture him in a cold and unforgiving world. She had created the pinnacle of perfection, and sought to replicate her accomplishment, but could never achieve the level of beauty imbued in the first. Nevertheless, she continued to fill the island with other, lesser copies of her creation until the day came where they were able to sustain themselves. She then left, departing the island to leave her children to thrive on their own. Though the Kharajyr had no knowledge of their creation, they continued to live on their island paradise, presuming they were always there and always would be. They had no inkling that a divine power had created them, and their worship was nonexistent. To the ancient tribes, survival was all that mattered. Metztli, feeling neglected by the very things she had birthed, decided to become once more entwined in the lives of her children. She returned to the Kha’, gifting their oldest and wisest with signs and visions, hoping they would unravel the secret of their own creation. Through much trial and more error, Metztli bestowed upon the Kharajyr Priests the ability to harness and utilize her Daemonic energy to further carry out her wishes. She also gifted them with the Stone of Metztli, a jurassic relic that would allow Priests to attune to her will. The Magic (General Overview/Muun’/Uses): Moongazing is based around the summoning and manipulation of the Daemonic energy of time Metztli gifted to her most devout followers, often referred to as ‘Muun’. A Priest would not use Mana to power their spells (Although using it to manipulate the spells that they summon), instead calling upon the energy gifted to them from their goddess. Each priest, instead of naturally regenerating Muun’ at a fixed rate, has a certain amount of energy that they can store within themselves. Priests must routinely visit a Moonpool to restore their energy, regardless of their individual capacity. As a side note, Metztli’s Daemonic Energy can be channeled in a variety of colors, ranging from silvery-blue to dark purple. This is purely an aesthetic thing, however, and does not impact the magic in any way. A priest can channel their Muun’ in a myriad of ways. Moonbinding, Moongazing and Chronoshaping are the three schools of Muun’trivazja and all follow the basic principles of time manipulation. Moonbinding is the ability to channel Muun’ energy into lapiz lazuli that has been specially prepared in order to enchant it with a variety of properties. Moongazing is harnessing Muun’ in order to see events that have transpired, have yet to come, or are occurring at the present time. Finally, Chronoshaping is the ability to manipulate time within an area, slowing, or speeding it at will. Stone of Metztli (Manifesting, De-Manifesting): The Stone of Metztli is an Ancient Kharajyr Artifact created by Metztli. The Stone manifests itself as an enormous fragment of lapis lazuli, with waves of immense power emanating from its core. It is extremely fragile, to the point of shattering with very little force. It would not withstand an attack, shattering into a myriad of crystals should it ever be broken. The Stone’s purpose is dual in nature, as both an attunement stone, as well as an anchor of time for the area directly around it, created by Metztli. Without the Stone to govern the passage of time, temporal anomalies would be a frequent occurrence within the surroundings of the stone, yet they would not cause huge issues within the realm and hardly be noticeable. The maximum distance from the stone that this happens is a hundred meters. Due to its very nature, the stone possesses the ability to reform itself soon after destruction, utilizing a level of Chronoshaping unique to its very being. It can only remain shattered for a short while, one may as well try and put an end to time itself. Whilst the stone would be summoned, any Priests within the immediate vicinity would find their energy naturally replenishing for the first time at a fixed rate. This is not permanent, as the energies would cease to regenerate once they strayed further from the stone. As part of the Higher Arts of Muun’trivazja, those who utilize the magic to the highest degree are taught how to safely summon, as well as dismiss the Stone. This would entail a lengthy process, in which the Priest would spend days on end in a deep meditation, ceaselessly chanting the same prayer repeatedly under their breath. As the Stone manifests, a thick shroud of Muun’ would fill the area, slowly coalescing before more would begin to move through the air and collect into the space, followed by a flash of light. When the light would fade, the stone would have appeared in place. While the stone would be manifested, the Priest who summoned it would remain in a state of exhaustion for however long it remained, often leading the High Priests to take turns with it summoned. The process would be repeated when it came to de-manifesting it, although the given prayers different. This would appear as the Stone of Metztli glowing a soft blue hue as wisps of the same colored light would slowly peel off of it. The stone would shrink all the while whilst this happened, until it would be gone fully. Throughout both cases, the Priest would be left exhausted. However, the stone cannot be de-manifested for an extended period of time. When the stone would not be in place, the same resulting ‘shattering’ of time would happen. Slowly at first, pockets of time across the land would begin to form anomalies of sorts. Areas might find themselves moving backwards in time, whilst others might find it sped up or simply slowed. The damage would increase the longer the stone remained unformed, until it would naturally reform randomly in Vailor on its’ own. Even if it were to reform, the Priests would easily be able to track it through moongazing due to their inner connection with the ancient artifact. Quick side note: Stone of Metztli only affects about one hundred meters(blocks) in any direction from the stone. The affects on time are not major life changing things, and remain only a minor issue when they do occur. This distance is also true to how far away a Priest must be to have his energy 'naturally' regenerate. Attunement: While ordinarily only those of Metztli’s kin work to spread her influence throughout the land, other Descendants may choose to pioneer her cause. Those who worship Metztli reverently, be them Kha’ or not, may be selected by the goddess to uphold her will. However, a special ritual enacted through the power of the Stone of Metztli will have to be undertaken; should any race, be they Descendant or Kha’, wish to rise to the task. Despite the Kharajyr’s intimate connection with Metztli, a Priest would have to fully immerse themselves in the goddess’ power via the Stone of Metztli in order to progress in learning the magic. An Elder Kharajyr Priest, one who has mastered the Higher Arts of the magic, is able to channel their energy into a Non-Kha’ acolyte of the Priesthood, forging a bond between them and their goddess and allowing them to harvest Daemonic Energy from the Moonpools. Non-Kha’ who touch the Stone without the aid of an Elder Priest would soon find themselves regretting their decision, as insanity grips their bodies and their wits scatter like dust in the wind, the unfiltered power of Metztli thundering through the halls of their fragile minds. The Magic (Moonbinding): Moonbinding is a manner of binding certain attributes that pertain to Muun’trivazja to objects. While simple in theory, this magic is capable of making a diverse array of fantastic items. However, there is a limit to what can be done with this magic. All enchantments must fall, in some way, under the Gazing or Chronoshaping subschools of Muun’trivazja. As this is energy granted by Metztli, the Daemon of Time, your enchants must still follow that basic theme. That means that you cannot Moonbind a sword that shoots fire, or gauntlets that allow you to trap Orcish Spirits (As cool as that may be). Moonbinding is achieved through a several step ritual. Firstly, the aspiring Moonbinder must find, cut, and polish a piece of lapis lazuli. The stone must then be engraved with scenes and prayers in Va’kharajyn that depict the abilities and attributes the item will have, in order to further focus the energy to its purpose. Finally, the Priest must fill the stone with Daemonic Energy drawn from their own bodies, turning the gem into a piece of Charged Lapis. It should be noted that Charged Lapis is a very fragile and delicate material to work with. Once it has become saturated with energy, the slightest mar upon the surface of the gem could cause it to violently shatter, as the energy inside of it escapes into the air. On a more technical note, a priest would find themselves unable to bind a spell greater in power than their current Moonbinding level. This means, that in order to bind, say a Tier 3 Cronoshaping spell to a piece of Charged Lapis, then one must possess a Moonbinding level that is at least one level higher than Tier 3. However, a priest of any level is still capable of channeling undirected energy into a piece of lapis to create a Focus. Focus’ are stones that calm and soothe the holder and are commonly used to help focus the energy of acolytes. Recommended Progression: Red Lines: -Items cannot hold an infinite supply of Energy. They will eventually weaken and degrade with time. -Any enchantments must be possible to accomplish with, or at least some variation upon the other two magics. -Although a non-priest can use these without any MA, they must be taught the workings of the item in character before they can do anything with the item besides blowing it up. -If anyone were to use these as a non-priest, they must read the magic lore pertaining to the enchantment they are using. The Magic (Gazing): Moongazing is the magic worth the most praise to the Kharajyr. It allows them to turn their gaze on events long past, those yet to come, and those taking place at the moment. To Moongaze into the past or future, no further preparation would be needed aside from one’s own supply of energy. However, this practice grants visions that are fuzzy and indistinct. To further focus one’s sight, a priest would require an object that pertains to the event they wish to view to act as a catalyst for triggering and focusing the vision. Thought the art comes at a cost. The use of Moongazing slowly turns those who practice it blind. By the time one has mastered the art, they would be doomed to forever walk in darkness, the price paid for their gift. Gazing into the future is an imprecise art at best. The best visions of the future, those that are most clear and direct, come when Metztli issues a prophecy to the Kharajyr. On their own, without divine intervention, the Priests are able to call up minor prophecies and omens of things to come, though the messages are often littered with misleading visions and strange riddles. Future-Gazing does not show a Priest the specifics of an event, however. Time is fluid and ever-changing. They may perhaps glimpse upon the climax of a grand crusade, but not the events leading up to it. Some visions may never come true in the first place. ((On an OOC note, one MUST have the permission of a GM before a priest is able to call up a vision of the future!)) Recommended Progression: Red Lines (there’s a lot of them): -You can not ‘Metagaze’. In this case, to find out something about someone’s character you would require their consent and speak to them in private messaging. -Moongazing into the future requires a GM/Lore Master who knows of Kha Magic, and they would be required to emote what you see. -Moongazing MAKES YOU BLIND! There is no way to avoid this. Your sight degenerates as you learn the magic. Follow the guidelines above! -Moongazing into the past can only be done up to the point where ‘Ancient History’ ends and Players had started. -To focus your Moongazing on a specific event, you would require an item or person who was there at said event. -Moongazing can currently only be projected to multiple people at once whilst using a Moonpool. This can be bypassed rarely though, and always with GM intervention (For example, the fallen Meteors for the Tomes of Power). When this would be, it would heavily tax the Priest- more so than Chronoshaping. The Magic (Chronoshaping): Chronoshaping is by far the most useful art a Priest can master, allowing them limited mastery over time itself. A priest would begin by gathering their Energy before shrouding the targeted area in a thin layer of mist. Through this Temporal Fog, one could see the flow of time being manipulated in the area, be it quickened, slowed or reversed. While Chronoshaping is a very powerful art, it has its limitations. One cannot create a paradox effect with the magic. The mist that forms surrounding an area is an indicator that that place has been severed from the regular flow of time. The displaced segment of time then begins to flow in accordance to the Priest’s whims, speeding, slowing or even reversing at their command as opposed to the regular flow of time. This means that once someone enters the area being affected they continue to flow with the original timestream. However, anything that was in the mist prior to the severing of the timeline will move with the new flow. That is why Chronoshapers don’t turn themselves to dust when speeding or rewinding time. The magic can be limited to a small area, as when one needs to heal wounds or rewind a small object, or it can be spread wide over a large structure. As a general guideline, the larger the area you want to affect, the thinner your mist is spread, and the less control you have over time in an area. Recommended Progression: Red Lines: -No one can enter or leave the area being changed by the magic, as it is cut off from time. -No temporal paradoxes! You cannot team up with yourself to dish out a beatdown, as cool as that may seem. -This stresses the Priest’s body greatly. If they were to rewind time on a large area, they themselves would find their bodies rapidly aging in tune with how much they rewind the time. -This can be used to heal wounds, but to regrow a limb would take many days of IRL sessions with said injured person. It can not be done all at once. The Higher Arts of Muun’Trivazja ((To accomplish any of these greater magics, the Kha will have to have studied under one who knows them. They would be required to learn the correct prayers and ceremonies in order to create a temporary and direct connection to Metztli after reaching Tier Five in two categories of the Magic.)) At this point, a Priest will have spent countless years of their lives learning Muun’Trivazja, and will have mastered Metztli’s Daemonic energy in its many forms. Those who are deemed worthy will continue their education, delving into the hidden aspects of the magic. Blessing the Waters: The first of the Higher Arts is the creation of a Moonpool. In doing this, a Priest would commune with Metztli, and direct her blessing towards a pool of water. After sending the entirety of their Muun’ into the body of water, they would seek to channel Metztli herself, beseeching her with an ancient Va’kharajyn prayer to bless the waters as was once done in days long past. This would leave the water glowing a blue hue and the Priest(s) who created it would be unable to cast nor control their Muun’ except to the smallest degree for an elven week thereafter. Attunement: The Rite of Attunement is a series of rituals in which a Non-Kharajyr is intimately linked to the Stone of Metztli, allowing them to harness and store the Daemonic energy gifted by Metztli. The rite begins with the Filling Of the Vessel, where the Priest conducting the ritual fills the aspiring acolyte with their own Muun’. The Descendant then goes to touch the Stone of Metztli, heralding the next stage of the process, The Breaking of Chains. Once they touch the stone, the acolyte is gripped with madness as the power of the Stone rips through them. With the aid of the Priest and the Muun’ channeled through them, the Acolyte can survive the madness, sharing the burden with the Priest with whom they are linked. If the Acolyte fails, the bond between the two is shattered, the Daemonic energy escaping from their body. They would remain in a state of madness, their minds shattered by contact with the stone, until they died. If he succeeded then both the Elder Priest and Acolyte would find themselves tossed in the throes of madness, ranting and raving before sinking into blessed sleep. The Priest’s connection with Metztli cut once more whilst the two sleep. So undergoes the final stage of the ritual, The Patching Of the Soul. As the Descendant sleeps, Metztli judges their worth in a manner unknown to any, as the incident is wiped from the mind of the sleeper. If they are found worthy, the bond is forged between them and the Stone, identical to that which rests in all Kha’ as per their creation. If they are found unworthy, the fragile bond dissipates, and the ritual must be undertaken once more. Calling the Stone: Calling the Stone is a High Art of Muun’Trivazja that entails the summoning and de-manifestation of the Stone of Metztli. This would serve no purpose in combat and only used when attuning Priests. The Priest would invoke the Prayer of Calling, in which they once more become immersed in their connection with Metztli. As long as the Stone of Metztli remained in place, the Priest that had summoned it would remain exhausted until the burden had been passed to a second Priest, or the stone de-manifests. Chronosleep: The final High Art is not that of spellcasting, nor requires a direct connection with Metztli, yet it is often revered as the highest of magics a priest could cast. As a priest lay dying, they could glance once more to the moon, and offer a prayer to Metztli. Goddess willing, the priest and all of their belongings would be frozen, permanently, in a form of temporal stasis, their body perfectly preserved at the last moment of death as their spirit sails off to join Metztli. General Red Lines: -General rules: It takes at least one emote to connect to your Muun’, another to summon it, and a third to begin its casting. One more in between connecting to your Muun’ and summoning it if you’re connecting directly to Metztli, and more after. -One must learn all three magics to be able to master any one of them, or be able to teach another Priest. -Making a Moonpool leads the priest(s) that made it to be unable to cast for up to an IRL week. -Priests MUST Roleplay regaining Muun. If no one is there for them to emote to, then they need to sit in the pool anyways. -This counts as a total of three magics, just to be clear. With our previous lore no one could tell if it was one or three. Current Lore Owner(s): Fury_Fire ((Writer & Idea-Monkey)) ForeverGinger (( Format Man & Word-Sound-Better-er)) Message us with questions, or post them right here! Final Words: With this, we hope to bring more attention to the Kharajyr Priests and Priestess’, and shift the magic from a combat based perspective to a more mystic and fun feel. We hoped to get rid of Moonfire, as the Kharajyr have begun to focus their attention around peace, and replace it with a form of enchanting that could bring fun to all, even non magic users <3. Of course this would require studying and speaking to us for the owners of said enchanted items, but we’re hoping this remains as unmoderated if possible. We’ve added things such as the Higher Arts to set the leaders of the Priests apart from the rest, as well as give priests a nicer death. The creation of the moonpools was already a closely guarded secret in which only two Priests know(Myself included). In general, we hope we’ve both nerfed the magic with our red lines and removal of Moonfire, as well as just make it more.. Fun! We decided that to do important things Kharajyr might already be able to do, we would require prayers that can help one connect directly to Metztli instead of through the Moonstone (Stone of Metztli, take your pick), in hopes of adding more to the mysteriousness surrounding Kha’ Magic to most people IRP, as well as give Kharajyr a feeling of being closer to their Patron. Non-Kha’ learning! Something we’ve always wanted! As well as bringing the Stone of Metztli into existence (It’s always supposedly reformed, and there is apparently lore on everything I mentioned in it) only now it’s safer! Hope you like it, and a special shout out to everyone in the current Priesthood who tolerated our incessant ramblings on the subject and helped form the baseline with which this re-imagining was formed. Without you lot, I doubt either of us would be able to keep up the flow of great ideas! -Fury_Fire and ForeverGinger <3 Edit:Forgot to put tier progressions in spoilers.. Fixed.
