The Dwarven Alchemy Guild
Da Khazad Gauld Barimmar

dwarven_alchemist_270x310.jpg

The Dwarven Alchemy Guild was created by Kardel Irongut with the help of
Gauldrim Irongut, with the purpose to teach the dwarven kingdom alchemy
and open a whole new world of chemical weapons and medicines to the
dwarven kingdom, though its original purpose was to provide another
weapon against the orc menace. The guild's main purpose is to provide
the Kingdom and the Legion with potions, oils, medicines, and
war-beasts, and educate dwarven population in the complex art of
alchemy.

Ranks:

Novitiate Alchemist:
When a dwarf first joins the alchemy guild, he is given the title of
novitiate alchemist. A novitiate alchemist has very little privileges.
He/She would spend most of his/her time studying recipes and reagents of
alchemy. Novitiate Alchemists cannot practice alchemy yet, and doing so
is strictly forbidden.

Apprentice Alchemist:
The stage in which the alchemist will start to practice the brewing of
potions and oils, and the principles of equivalent exchange, is called
the Apprentice stage. An apprentice alchemist will attempt to brew
potions, and will mostly fail at it, for potion brewing takes years to
master, and theory is very different from actual practice. Gifted
apprentices move on to the next Alchemy Guild Ranks, and continue their
journey through the art of alchemy.

Adept Alchemists:
The Adept Alchemist is your usual alchemist. He/She can brew potions
with higher quality ingredients, and succeed at brewing them. If the
adept alchemist is to continue studying alchemy, he/she must choose one
of the main fields of alchemy to study.

Expert Alchemist:
The Expert Alchemist must be well-versed in all the main fields of
alchemy, and must be able to identify most reagents. The Expert
Alchemist should know most recipes by heart and be able to experiment
different recipes. The Expert Alchemist is also capable of becoming a
teacher to the lower ranks of the Dwarven Alchemy Guild.

Master Alchemist:
Master Alchemist's are able to create potions without the fear of
failing, and should be able to create his/her own potions. Master
Alchemists should also have mastered one of the Sub-Fields of alchemy,
and should be well versed in that sub-field's ways. Master Alchemist's
are considered the elite of alchemy, although they are far from it.

Elder Alchemist:
The Elder Alchemist is the true master of Alchemy. He/She knows all
Types and Sub-Types of alchemy, and can brew all potions and oils
without the fear of failure. The Elder Alchemists can no longer carry on
with their studies, because there is no more things to study. The Elder
Alchemist is allowed to run for Alchemy Guild council positions.

The Grand Alchemists:
The Grand Alchemists are a group of Alchemists that help maintain the
alchemy guild in good shape and urge development. They are third in
command after Ogradhad's Alchemist and the Head Alchemist. The Grand
Alchemists oversee the general goings of the guild, and make decisions
to further improve the guild.

The Head Alchemist:
The Head Alchemist runs the Council of Grand Alchemists. He helps make
decisions and reports them to Ogradhad's Alchemist. He is second in
command when it comes to command over the Guild. The Head Alchemist's
Opinion matters over the opinion of most others. He is equal in power
with Ogradhad's Alchemist, although he is in charge of decisions more
than studies.

Ogradhad's Alchemist:
The head of the Alchemy Guild and a follower of Ogradhad, the lore
master, the giver of knowledge. Ogradhad's Alchemist Rules with an iron
fist over the other ranks, and his opinion in decisions made by the
Grand Alchemy Council is very important. He puts the seal on a decision,
but with sufficient support may also veto it. Ogradhad's Alchemist
oversees studies and general goings of the alchemy guild, and maintains a
good relationship with Ogradhad.

Bardel Thorak sits back on his chair with his hands on his lap as he sees the bird approaching the Aviary. He gets up and slowly unties the note attached to the birds leg. He sits back down in his chair, rubbing the beard on his chin.

Greetings Young beard. We have agreed to teach you a bit of Alchemy. But be warned. Our lessons are long and take dedication. Most younglings (New Roleplayers) Don't learn fast enough and get them selves killed. If you are willing to take on the challenge I will want to meet you ASAP

A rather tubby Tunnel Mew, stinking of ale stumbles towards head of the Alchemy Guild. A stone tablet held surprisingly firm in it's jaw, as it continues to staggers forwards. Dropping it next to you, before collapsing on the ground nearby. Beginning to snore loudly. You notice a series of markings on the tablet, making up  a series of words. It reads:

"To the current head of the Dwarven Alchemy Guild,

I'm writing to you for reasons I shall explain in more detail in this letter. Firstly I would like the inquire if the alchemy guild would like to participate in some research I've been conducting as of late? I've been experimenting with different types of ores, mainly thanhic ore. Trying record out their properties in great detail. In hope that they may lead to further development of their use. Not to mention leading to discovery of new substances. If you would like to participate, I would ask that you use the Tunnel Mew I have sent to bring to message to me as soon as possible. The more we time we waste, the closer our enemies may be in discovering the secrets of these materials before us. Putting them to use against us.

Secondly, I would like to enquire into the state of the Alchemy Guild itself.  I will not lie, it has been of some concern within the Kingdom for sometime the state of the Guild. I would like to hear from you about your feelings on the matter?  As you may have noticed our Kingdom is going through a great time of change. With this new transformation we the guilds, that serve as the arm and legs of the Kingdom must also change. To operate well enough in this new era. Undoubtedly there will be a meeting soon about this. But for this transformation to be effective we must keep within contact of each other. In order to successfully improve ourselves for our people. So in accordance with that, I would appreciate reply soon.

Ogradhad guide you,

Lord Farren Starbreaker

Kardel, visiting the Karirdmarr frequently, sees this letter. Bardel had left and failed to show up for a long while, so he wrote in his stead:

The Alchemy guild would love to participate in such research. Activity for us is seen scarcely now, and we have been too busy confining ourselves to our research to pay the kingdom any mind. We need another base of operations for this though, as currently the Karrirdmar serves no good. We have discovered some instabilities within its foundation that can no longer support the violent explosions. If proper facilities are provided we will aid you.

As for the alchemical guild's doings. . .I am afraid that is beyond confidential. The state, sadly, is mostly inactive as our new members have either left. . .or died. I cannot hold on to the guild much longer and will name a successor when ready. I ask for this successor not to be voted on by the dwarves, and only to be nominated by alchemical skill. My apprentices shall not fail to impress, I guarantee you. We can host a meeting the next Elven Saturday ((21st of December)) and converse.

Kardel looks the letter over, and picks up his quill, dipping it into some ink. Kardel starts writing in his distinguishable fine, thin handwriting.

"Dear applicant, you have been accepted! We will arrange a meeting when it is appropriate."

Kardel ties the letter to a blue-jay bound for the Irongut Clan hall and stamps it with his green seal depicting a stag.

Chase sees the bird flying toward the door as his alchemist station is next to the clan enterance. He walks toward the door openning it to let the bird in. Chase watches as the bird lands on his shoulder with a note attached to it. Untying the message, he reads it. Chase begins to cheer a bit as he read he is accepted into the guild. He brings the note back to his cold home and begins to write.

"We can meet up any time in the Irongut Clan hall as you have been accepted back into it. Also if I am not there, I may be outside near the small pond by the road practicing a form of magic."

~Chase Irongut

Chase then sends the bird back to where it came from.
