Ever 2648 Share Posted January 10, 2014 I see tons of posts saying 'make a region!' 'make a message!' It's sooper easy: Take out wooden axe Stand in the center of this 'warzone' Right click and left click on the block below you //expand 60 up //expand 100 east //expand 100 west //expand 100 north //expand 100 south //expand 60 down /rg define trenchwar /rg flag trenchwar build allow /rg trenchwar flag greetings "You are entering a dangerous warzone, your safety is not guaranteed. (You may be drawn into PVP simply by passing through this area. Be cautious!) /rg trenchwar flag farewell "You leave the strife of war behind you." //expand further to fit the borders of combat zone. You'll probably need to expand a lot more than 100, I don't know the size of the battlefield. This, coupled with a few signs saying similar things, should drastically lower the amount of accidental deaths. It really isn't clear that there's a war/you're wandering into a big battlefield. I logged in a few days ago to wandered into the battle area for a moment. A greeting/farewell flag should save a lot of trouble.
Servant of St. Owyn 384 Share Posted January 10, 2014 The Don't come back until 30 minutes after the event has ended rules is stupid, I agree that you shouldn't come back for 30 minutes after death but you shouldn't need to wait until the event is over. Also, I've heard of no new spawns being killed in the area, maybe one or two, but I haven't heard of it, If they are within the battle field that is surrounded by signs saying "This is a PVP Area" During a skirmish, they will most likely die. If there is no active skirmish going on, sure a little rp but otherwise, they're taking the risk. Most people know who they're fighting anyway so randoms don't usually get killed. On top of that, PVP isn't fun because you get to kill people, if you wanted to kill people go to a PVP server, sure, but the reason why pvp is so fun on LoTC is because there is masses amounts of people fighting for a cause that will have effects within rp and in the server. The rules are fine as they are, there is no mass genocide going on killing randoms, the only people dying are people involved within the war, If you aren't fighting but are inside the war zone during a skirmish then it's simply collateral damage. Terafir 90 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Thank you, BNK. Nothing has actually changed. I've seen people banned in the past for returning to a battle, even if they waited 30 minutes. It's the way it's always been, but it seems you're forgetting this fact. As for the rp before pvp, that rule has always been there. The only time it hasn't is when there's a planned battle or skirmish confirmed by the leaders set a while beforehand. No, I don't expect an essay written before you call pvp, what I expect is you to make a few emotes chasing me down, drawing your weapon, etc. I would say about 3-5 emotes is plenty. Any less, no. domainoft 191 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Though clarification should not be needed, I'll ask anyway as many people tend to bend this rule. Does this new revision of the rule apply to deaths by mobs as well. While it seems plainly obvious as a yes by reading it, many players feel its acceptable to return to the place of death if a no rp death occurred by mob, or very unfortunate accident. The case that comes to mind was a person rping, getting knocked off the cliffs of Oren's Keep by use of a certain spell 'accidentally' striking them. We all felt it fair that they should have their items returned, but a slight disagreement as to rather it should be returned RPly or just letting them return and continue RPing. Call me old school if you wish, but I'd rather let the RP flow and try to explain unfortunate accidents with humorous RP than void anything Ever. Lago 2572 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Anyone considered using the MC name statuses to denote whether you're part of the ongoing war or not? Put the two crossed swords next to your name and you're fair game for the other side. No crossed swords and you need to RP with them so they know what's going on before you gut them. The Don't come back until 30 minutes after the event has ended rules is stupid, I agree that you shouldn't come back for 30 minutes after death but you shouldn't need to wait until the event is over. That gives infinite reinforcements to a side that stalls in a War Claim Battle. For the Trench Warfare I agree that normal 30 min should apply, but then again, a Warclaim Battle's an event and the trench war is an ongoing thing, so I'd say normal 30 min for Trench War. Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted January 12, 2014 They need to read the OOC signs and realize themselves they're in a war zone. If they don't. They deserve to die. If they don't want to die, they need to stay out of the war zone. I don't have time to RP when dwarves could be anywhere ready to PVP me.
hjgklmn0ajuvxc 688 Share Posted January 12, 2014 yeh uhm. We dont PVP people when there isnt an actual battle. And it doesnt take a genius to realize that you'll get killed if you walk into a battlefield thats obv there, as you can see arrows flying past and lots of players hopping about in full armour screaming charge
Genevieveee 234 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I wish I would've found this before I joined the battle a few days ago. I don't know what they set as rules either.. But some random Dwarves killed me while I was typing. T.T
Jachnun 566 Share Posted January 29, 2014 It's their own fault for walking past the sign that says PVP WARZONE! Let them die. Thats a little extreme?
