a new northern territory

i want to make a new northern territory. one that will not fall like snowy fields and alstion. one even closer too the undead keep. i will call it resistance. it will show them undead that we will beat them. that they haven't won. walls will be made of cobble and it will have a celing with a layer of glowstone. this will stop the undead magic and lastly it will be a ring city so if there is war the outer rings may fall but the inner rings will be standing and they will prevent the city from falling ((a ring city is similar to minas tirith with walls covering the center. then another wall surrounds the city expanding it.))

the city is started near here alstion once was. it is a little hard to find because any land marks are gone. but i am building it and it is slowly coming together. right now the halls of resistance are being built. we need lots of cobble stone. more than i had ever thought. and please do not destroy anything or take anything. if you wish to build with me post a sign somewhere. as of now we need dirt and cobblestone. if you wish to donate leave it in a chest.

also magic is banned in this city. only if you have a liscence will you be able to use magic.

There is an Island city to the west of Snowy fields. Noone speaks of it as it has nothing built there but the huge walls and a small dock area. The rest of the city is empty, no buildings. Go have a look for it. Apparantly someone was selling the land though i do not know if he is still on the server or not.

That castle you speak of is an architectural mess, and shoddily built. The construction was rushed and the builder ran out of money. I wouldn't bet on it. And additionally, how, do you propose that you would build this city right under the undead's nose? They burn massive settlements, how would you protect and construction site? I wish you luck in your venture, and if you are lucky enough to gain a wealthy investor you might have a chance.

I understand that it is risky but it is less of a risk than trying to create a new settlement from scratch under their nose. The island fortress has a good strategic advantage as access is only possible over the sea therefore the undead will have to swim or use boats to get to it. It is a more viable option than an attempt of a fortress from scratch, near the undead territories.

this city will be made entirely of cobble stone. this cant burn. secondly imagine a giant circular wall with a roof all made of cobble. this makes fireballs and lightning useless. lastly when we build the first ring we will only expand from there. every ring we add will store housing casinos (the house always wins) and anything else needed. this city would stand even if its outer rings fell. even if the undead knew of this their magic wouldn't work. i only ask you lend a hand to start with building it. after that if you don't like it I'm not forcing you to invest or build anything. i am planing to build a city that cannot fall.

I would like to help you in this because I believe this is a very good idea. Sadly though, I have lost all of my stuff so I'd need to start getting wood and so on.

I have just began to think... If you build a roof over the city, then could the undead simply not pour lava on the roof and break holes allowing many lava streams to pour upon the city?

then we will have multiple layers.

cobble

cobble

cobble

lava

lava

glowstone

air

air

air

glass

this should prevent the lava and the glowstone makes the city brighter. this city can not fall

That island fortress is a perfect start, it is large enough to house the Alstion remnants. It does need improvements, the houses there are poorly built and designed and it is empty. But there is plenty of room for a circle fort within. My proposal would be a central tower and build a cobble dome from that encasing an inner city and access to mines and farms.

It would probably be smarter if the town was mostly cobble, stone, stone slabs and such. Houses probably should not be made of wood or anything.

Ah, this is a good idea indeed, but there are a few problems, primarily the EXTREME cost of glowstone. One block sells for about 100 minas, so it is slightly impractical to build a layer of glowstone. However, you could just use torches on the ground level.

I also like the idea of a roof on the city, this will indeed prevent the Undead from using their lightning to kill and destroy, as would a city made entirely of cobblestone. Another great idea of yours is the ring structure, since this would definitely assist in an attack. The more they destroy, the further inwards you fall and the stronger the defenses get. A great idea.

However making this a city would be impractical. That would cost a huge amount of money, require the economy to be entirely based on guarding the city (which is impossible,) and lead to not many wanting to live in your city. So I say that you should just make a keep there, with the layers, the roof, etc. Make a keep to fight their keep. Keep them at bay. It is a great idea.

And just so you know, they wouldn't crack holes in the ceiling and poor lava in there, I don't exactly see why they wouldn't have just put lava on top of the roofs of Snowy Fields then...

Finally, location. The island fort is a very strategic location, but it is out of the way and would not attract the attention of the Undead. With approval, though, you could build such a fort at Snowy Fields, which would grab the attention of the Undead, and it is very close to their Keep. Snowy Fields has the moat around it, the high and strong walls, the gate, the right shape. You could realistically just build two rings of walls inside of the ruins and throw a roof over those two inner sanctums. It'd be a giant insult to the Undead.

Good idea.

Why does everyone want to start these new terrorities? Alstion not well built? More like not well manned. We need new soldiers, not new terrorities!

Well we don't have Alstion or Snowy Fields anymore, and Winterfell is close to falling because it is completely unmanned. Once Winterfell falls the Kingdom of Oren will be short three settlements so it makes sense that we try and remake some lost ground with the remnants of these towns since these people are more battle hardened then 90% of the Oren Guard.

As a former guard of Snowy Fields and ex Ranger of Alstion I still want to continue this fight. just give the word and I'll be there.
