Why We Fight

Humanity’s war with Uruguan has not been publicly addressed by the Oren government as of yet; many of our peoples, especially those new to Anthosian soil, may remain in the dark in why we have mobilized an offensive into the south, and what purpose we have in those trenches, losing brothers, fathers, and sons. There is no easy answer, but it can be summed in short by the actions of the Dwarves, whom to this day fail to hold themselves accountable for their acts of wanton negligence and violence, desiring war where they walk and corpses where they stand.

The first instance of this animosity and tension between the sons of Urguan and the sons of Horen stemmed from the Tarus rebellion, where the dwarves attempted to overthrow the Carrion Vochna in hopes of installing a half-elven government upon the dominion of man. The dwarves cite their motivation for declaring war on a nation in crisis as to the actions of rogue lords interrupting the coronation of King Indago; yet if the dwarves had felt insulted by this matter, they could have easily demanded a diplomatic summit to punish these rogue lords. Instead, they failed to communicate in any meaningful way towards punishing these potential criminals, and used the one-off incident as a fraudulent Casus Belli to attempt to install a half-elven government which would have destroyed human culture and society as we know it.

When they were repelled, the dwarven desire for bloodlust was not satiated. They took to the brood of Setherin, harkening the wicked monster’s aid in the continued war and refusing to aid in the United Anthos Coalition of Man, Elf, and Uruk against the greatest scourge since the time of Iblees. In the ensuing battle, forces of Setherin aided the dwarves in their penchant for war against humanity.

As men, we must not been blinded by ignorance; there are dwarves who are wise and realize that this war is utter folly, that it benefits no man nor dwarf. But their government, the lords, refuses to pay reparations for their various crimes. They continue to perpetuate that they were in the right by consorting with the Tarus rebellion and Setherin, and even claim that Kal’Ithurn is their righteous capital; when those whom remember the early days of Anthos know that Kal’Ithurn was once known as Storm’s Crossing, or the Ugluk Fort. The dwarves stole this land from the Orcs, placed their own capital there, and claim it as their righteous territory. Had we success in our last battle, our war goal would have been to reclaim Storm’s Crossing in the name of the Orcs, restoring the natural boundaries established by the Cloud Temple Monks.

As aggressors, some argue that it is our duty to create peace in Anthos, so that we may focus on the true threat of the Scourge and crusade against the demons of the north. Yet, if the dwarven government fails to repent for its crimes against the mortal races and seek reparations, how can we establish a longing peace? They broke their peace with the Emperor before me by continuing to harass the city of Abresi by preaching their cult and faith and the government as of late has failed to make any demonstration that it would like to see an outcome that is not coated with grim and death.

Until either the dwarven government makes amends for its seizing of rightful Orcish territory, interfering in a civil war, and for following the wicked demon of Setherin, or its seditious lords are replaced with one of virtue, how can we make peace? How can we sign a treaty knowing the same wicked men who attempted to execute a twelve year old boy king and consorted with demons of the North still reign in power, having no sorrow for their vile acts? It would be a false, fleeting peace, one which would only erupt into further war.

I, King Heinrik, urge men, elf, uruk, and dwarf of Anthos, to recognize this cause of ours, to see through this document of why we fight against the corruption within the south. I recognize that they are fractures in our support; that some of our Uruk allies believe that is “dishonorable” to fight against a race whose current government has committed so many wrongs over so little, that some of the men even in our homeland chose to fight our feudal way of life as Unionists whom would desert the armies of Oren to profit in the blood of our soldiers and to tarnish the work of our forefathers. We do not seek extermination of the dwarven race as to wipe a fellow mortal race is a crime akin to kinslaying as we all hail from the four brothers of Malin, Krug, Urguan, and Horen. Rather, we wish to see amends, reparations, and punishment to those who had the gall to believe that their atrocities were committed for any other reason besides bloodlust and profit. That is why we fight.

Adelmar chuckles after reading the pamphlet, "Too bad...when on one side you hear only one side. Nay will they know what the dwarves have done, nay will they know of the real sacrifice they took. Though who say the dwarves did wrong before? The orcs are bloodlusting monsters that the Emperor has allied himself with. At the time of the rebellion, Oren allowed flays and corruption to run freely. The fight with Setherin...I guess the dwarves never got around telling Oren what their true plan was against Setherin was."

Shaking his head, he gives off a soft sigh, "When on one side of the wall, you can only see the one side. Sometimes, the man cannot see the faults on his side as he tries to climb over. Oren cannot see what faults it has so now the dwarves fight to defend their lands."

Having obtained a copy he reads it over in a smoke filled mystical chamber. He reaches enlightenment and addresses his posse,

"In the pursuit of riches, one might find death, money, and power on their boots afterwords. Such was the Flay way, we will not condemn them criminals because they sought to obtain material possession. We will not use the petty and overdone excuse that is the Flays. No, the true crime is taking council with the great enemy. If you're allied Setherin, see through the lies and do not slander. You fight for your own demise." Darius takes a long pull from his marijuana cigarette "Learn wise, 6."
