The Lonely Man

He cannot bear it.

A man stands idle on the streets of Abresi, he watches as couples come and go, bonding and laughing, sharing and spending their time together. He does nothing but watch, on the verge of tears. Another man walks past, he has no mate, but he stops and turns on his heels to meet the lonely man's eyes. They exchange looks for a moment, not for longer than a minute.

They are equals, you say?

The man merely looks at him, a disgusted expression on his face. He opens his mouth as to say something.

"Disgusting creature," he says, spitting on his shoe and walking away, having had enough to see for the day. The lonely man is alone once more. However, this time, he does not watch.

 

He weeps.
