A Means To An End

((I forgive you, Vaerus :3))

Arial raises her hands a little like someone would to stop a speaker politely and respectively. "Dranan... No hostile words, please. We are not picking at each other- perhaps it is because of Kayrin that Adunia has not yet fallen completely.... And perhaps it will be because of you it rises once more to its former greatness- History can show and time can only tell. Though.. History is written by the victors, and time is yet to tell. So while we wait, can there be no peace between the both of you? Could Dranan not- I say 'rule' for lack of a better word- Could Dranan not 'rule' Adunia for the time being, and Kayrin oversee some part of it? Or perhaps a co-ruling would best fit this situation, seeing as half of the families- or clans- are on Dranan's side, while the rest are on Kayrin's (or have absolutely no idea what is going on... Which I do not blame them for). Though perhaps we should not be splitting Adunia, but bringing it together," she speaks, putting her hands together as she does so((for symbolism of 'together')). She looks patiently, under the shadow of her hood, from Dranan to Kayrin with a calm aura about her. Her voice is almost soothing.

“Half?”  Dranan couldn’t help but to chuckle lightly “You mean majority are sided with I.  Nevertheless, I am done playing a game with a fool whom has no army.  I only offer this- You, Kayrin Hightower surrender and face the crimes you shall be trialed for.  If you are found guilty of such crimes you shall die in Thronn’s Shadow, and if you are able to pass the trial somehow innocent, you may stay in /my/ peoples land.”

((I apologise advance for the typos. I'm on a phone.)) Kayrin shakes his head with a small sigh, "Cirimas made it clear you do not side with Oren, and for a time you acted different. But you continue to offer only one solution when there are plenty of others which will allow for no bloodshed between us. We could rule together, you could work to convince my people you are better suited for the job, you could explain your plans for the future of the land, and you could even work and earn the land."

"Time again and again I have tried to explain this to you. This is not the Adunia your father ruled. There is a reason thatbwe no longer take the names Adunia, or Elendil. You have claim to Adunia, yes, but you bear no such claim to Anadune, save that it's people choose to follow you. This is not the land your father ruled, it is the land that the people fought for, and so I leave it to those you despise as Anadunians to decide.

"Yout put up this pretense of wanting a peacefulsolution yet chose not to consider the many ways it could be solved. Like Oren did to Urguan those years before, claiming they wanted peace but requiring surrender. Like the Dwarves I cannot accept that choice, and you refuse to see the options."

Kayrin rubs the bridge of his nose, hesitating, "if you want to negotiate, why not explain what would make you a better ruler than I, and why not tell it to my people. I see nofurther reason for discussion if you will only demand, not do what I believe you claimed we would and negotiate."

"Ahem," she coughs quietly as though to get attention. "It was Kayrin who was in charge of Adunia for the past years, and it is because of him that it still exists... Nothing against you, of course, Dranan, but the Elendil family has this tendency to just... have family who are the 'true blood' of Elendil coming from Aspects-know-where, I daresay... Perhaps a co-ruling would best fit, seeing as you have yet to rule Adunia, Dranan, and Kayrin seems to have some experience. Yes, please either speak with the people themselves or resolve to a quiet, peaceful transfer of power, or leveling of power. Least the Adunian people leave this nation because of the quarrels with the royalty."

((Edited after noticing Chi's response.))

Aep raises his hand and speaks casually from his seat, talked over at first but gradually gaining momentum. "- what I'm trying to say is, these.. followers.. of yours, Dranan, are quick to discredit Kayrin with convicted voices; voices I only now hear for the first time." He turns to address Dranan's entourage. "May I ask, where exactly were you when your homeland needed you the most? During the events shortly before and during the interregnum? Or before that, when war was declared on Adunia, because I'm sure as hell you weren't on the battlements. Quite frankly, I've never seen most of you in my life, and your words are hollow to me, so please answer me this: why should I care what any of you say? What right do you have to a home you were previously unwilling to defend?" Aep slumps back into his seat and waits with anticipation for anyone to retort.

Cirimas raises from his seat, planting a shaky hand against the table to steady himself. "If I may intercede, Kayrin, you hold the lands of Brom'krah without right. You claim our brother, Artorus the Third, gave you his blessings to rule as lord, which in truth is not true. I do not call you a liar, Kayrin, for you are my blood and my cousin, but the people who wish you there are meager in number, and feeble at best. I may not speak for Dranan, but kinstrife is not the path we need take; The path which Harrion and m-.. our grandfather Torrhen chose. I myself stand at an uncomfortable crossroads, split between two sides of my blood when I truthfully would not wish to go against either." He raises a brow, inclining his head towards Aep. "Unwilling to defend? I mounted the battlements many times to defend Adunia against the raids that we suffered; I marched to war alongside Urguan to ensure our safety. I stood by Derrek's side up until his disappearance as any loyal Adunian did. My loyalty lies with our people, our traditions; I was never unwilling to defend my home or my people, and what we do now, we do for the scattered remnants of our people." He turns back to Kayrin, breathing a sigh, "Kayrin, I am a gentle man, shedding blood needlessly will not bear fruit which is why I wish to put forward the idea of a triumvirate, let the three of us rule together as equals, a council of sorts? There would be some conditions alongside this, but, I see this as the only viable way for a peaceful resolution."

Dranan chuckles lightly as he turns his head to Aep.  “I was with Thorenir, learning the ways of life.  To hunt and to kill, the proper way.  It deeply worries me how you managed to by pass the guards and somehow stay in.  No matter, for was it not Derreck whom was supposed to be Lord, out matching all in votes; Kayrin usurped it from him.”  He would shake his head as he looks to Cirimas, thinking for a moment.  “I shan’t kill my own kin whom are blinded who to follow; I hope dearly that you feel the same Kayrin.  I agree to the triumvirate.”

Arnorian strides in, woefully late. He takes no seat, as presumably, they would all be taken.

"You shall not kill your own Kin, but you would have my head on a pike for your blind love a ruler who ruined us. I won't dwell on the matter of my Nephew, Grand Nephews and the like. I am the son of Thorenir, and loyal to Adunia. I have already volunteered my services unto the family, but you are much to intent on having me killed. The Trial you spoke of would end with my death - you know little of my side of the history of this populace. Many Elendils here are good men, but Dranan - you are not amoung them. You wish to rule all of Adunia, alone, and in the way you see fit, even if it means the slaughter of your own blood and family."

He grunts, looking up at the tables delegates.

Dranan smirks at Arnorians response, “If I wanted you dead, I would’ve taken you from where we last met.  You people only have the decency to blame my father, and his father before.  Every little slip we had you put the blame upon him!  WHere is your blame, Arnorian?  When you pranced with a crown on your head proclaiming yourself a ‘King’.  Many of my men supported you back then, yet when we arrived to Anthos where was our Kingdom?  Where was our land, our religious freedom?  I shall blame you as you blame my father.”

"Where was it? It was in Kastoria. It was in Vaerhaven. That, is where our religious freedom was. I note, the Hall that the Adunians built there still stands today. What took us from Vaerhaven? Godric Armas and his aspiring to start a civil war, then Lachlan coming and moving us from Vaerhaven to some horrible pit in the San'Orkan desert."

“It was most likely because of your ignorance and deceit that he revolted yet at least we were united in civil wars and the desert my father got us in.  After, after the desert where did he get us?  You were just a band of petty Adunians until then.  Great people make mistakes, Arnorian.  Hanrahan,  Gavin,  Artorus, Godric, Eze'kiel.  All of them made bloody mistakes.  Yet with all of them their good deeds outmatch the misdoings they performed.  Honour them as you wish to honour yourself.”

Cirimas raises from his seat once more, raising his voice to overshadow the two bickering Adunians. "Silence, the both of you! This needless bickering will get us no where. We cannot dwell on the past if we are to restore Adunia to what it once was, and to do this, we must put our heads together. The days of my father, Lachlan Mor, are passed; his deeds are set in stone but what point is there to follow in his steps? I ask the both of you to sit down and calm yourselves." He falls back into his chair with a grunt, his eyes narrowed in frustration.

He leans back, huffing.

"Yes, Yes.."

"I wish to be able to serve my people without scorn and danger, that is all. I have led the Rangers of Adunia for a decade, and still believe I am the best fitting for the task ahand. That is my request, the rest of the politics, I leave unto you."

Dranan would also lean back, his eyes locked on Arnorian.

“For now, if Kayrin agrees to the triumvirate, I would surely see to it you remain as the Ranger head, no doubt Cirimas and Kayrin would as well.”
