A Means To An End

Edward steps aside for the leaving Adunians, leaning stably on his staff and waiting for the hall to go much quieter than before the men left to smile and walk forth. He stands next to the people representing both sides and awaits their words.

Dranan would rise from his seat, hopefully along with the other people in the room.  [Just to point it out, it is only Dranan, Arnorian, Kayrin, Arial, Edward, and Cirimas in the room currently, other then the Dwarves].

“I thank you for coming, your Grand Majesty.”

He would dip his head lightly in respect before returning to his seat.  There are spare seats for Wulfgar and whomever joins him.  Yet he doesn’t start, until they would be seated.

The Grand King and the Lords who accompany him begin to take their seats at the table, lifting off their helmets and laying them down in front of them. He nods his head to Dranan, before glancing between the various faces of the Adunians he had come to meet. Raising a hand as he scratches at his beard, he leans forward in his seat and begins to speak.

"Adunians ov all clans n' creeds. Furst, ah'm glad ye 'ave invoited meh tu 'elp mediate t'ese disputes ov yers. It bears ah grave burden upon us all t'u see ye kin ar' yet again divoided... Weh 'ave called fer t'is meetin' wit' t'e intended purpose  ov bringin' peace between both Kayrin and Dranan. Sh'ould t'at nawt beh possible, ah can assure ye t'at t'ere is nay gud endin' in soite. Weh as dwarves ov t'e Grand Kingdom w'ould beh obligated tu remain neutral in aneh civil conflict t'at wer' tu aroise. Yet ah mus' admit, ah'm nawt all tu familiar wit' t'e traditions ov t'e sons ov 'oren. Fer us dwarves 'owevah, kinslayin' is amun' t'e gravest ov croimes t'at w'ould 'ave us cast intuh Vuur'Dor. Ah mus' beg tu ask t'e question t'en, is war realleh t'e onleh solution tu end t'is conflict? War t'at w'ould cast ye people intu' chaos yet again. Ah can see nay reason fer t'at tu beh t'e onleh means ov settlin' t'is. Speak n' per'aps ah will gain ah bettah understandin' ov w'y ye feel t'is is necessareh."

Kayrin stands as the Grand King and the Lords of Urguan enter, nodding respectfully to each in turn, his first nod to the Grand King slightly lower than the others because of his rank, before returning to his seat. He leans backwards slightly in his seat, putting his chin on his hand to quietly watch the others, and his eyes move between Arial, to Dranan, before returning to Wulfgar as he speaks. He listens patiently, nodding his head in agreement at what is said, then saying lowly, though loud enough that the people at the table can hear, "i share your hope, Your Majesty. With any luck peace will be found."

Arial smiles lightly to the Grand King Wulfgar, waving a little and nodding in agreement with him before her expression levels out once more. She looks expectantly to Dranan, interested, but her expression does not show much else.

Lorethos stands on the training ground in Sabrinsky as his men drill back and forth across the yard. He leans heavily on his stave, turning around and returning to the table where his son and cousin stand. A map on the table, with a black mark on this 'Kayrin's' holdings.

"If they can not convince this Hightower to abdicate, they have promised to fly my Crescent if I aid them in taking their home back." He sighs and looks to Damien, who nods stoically, and then to Xalvador who only grunts in agreement. He smiles and places his finger on Adunia. "Their birthright will be theirs again, this I am sure of. I will make it so. The only question is, will they keep to their word?"

((Edit: Literally just noticed that this is closed, don't want to disrupt anyone, let me know if you want this deleted.))

Cirimas raises from his seat at Dranan's flank, clearing his throat to speak. "Kayrin, you remain stubborn in Brom'krah due to the whim of a few, whilst the majority of the Adunian people wish to return to rebuild their homes under the banner of the House of Elendil. Why is this, what sense is there in this decision?" He pauses, inhaling deeply before orienting himself towards Dranan. "You dispute my brother's claims, and the wishes of those Adunians who have become estranged in this diaspora thanks to your usurpation of the throne of my father. What is your reasoning, where is the sense in this?" He meets Kayrin with a pensive stare before slumping down into his chair once more.

"I ask kindly," Arial says in a quiet, level voice, even though the sound echoes naturally off the walls, giving the impression that she is everywhere at once, "that no one else speak until both parties - they being Dranan and Kayrin - speak. Thank you in advance for your cooperation." Her face still hidden underneath her hood, she waits once more for Dranan to present his side.

Looks out his cave "Oh ****! I forgot to build the walls!"

“Girl,” He says, looking to her coldly. “You do not run this meeting.  Cirimas represents I, as Arnorian may represent Kayrin.”  He turns his head towards Kayrin, “Your response.”

Arial frowns slightly underneath her hood. "I do not run this meeting, perhaps, but I keep it running smoothly. We do not need a fight to break out here, honestly.. I was informed that the purpose of this meeting was to define each of you, and for the Grand King to decide, or for me, or whomever to decide, who will hold the throne to Adunia. If that is wrong, please correct me," she nods a little, "and with a smile, too, please. As you said, Arnorian represents Kayrin, Cirimas represents you, the Grand King and his people are their own entity... I am here, unbiased. I am only here to help."

Kayrin studies Dranan quietly, his eyes thoughtful. "I believe that what Arial says makes sense. We should say our cases before questioning the others. However, if you insist on my response, I will tell you.

"For many, many years now, since the Split of Adunia, my people have been working toward independence and their own land, a land to call home. We have struggled and toiled, from one dilema to the next, and from one trial to another. It is my people who earned this land from the dwarves doing everything they could to remedy the issue with Oren. In exchange, Urguan gave us Brom Krah as our own, a land that we could call free and independent. This land no longer belongs to any former owner. It does not belong to Lachlan, nor does it belong to Adunians as a whole. It belongs to these few Adunians who worked to earn it, not to those who left it in dispute. They have asked that I remain their lord. I gave you the answer to this problem when you came to me that long time ago. Until my people ask me to step down, and put you in my place, I will not stand down."

[[Very sorry for the long delay.]]

“/Adunia/ has been faced with many splits in the past and they are some how able to always emerge back from the edge of defeat.  To say it bluntly, our once great nation had the honour of calling itself a nation; now it is no more than your five man army standing inside the walls of Brom’Krah.  /Your/ people deserve nothing of independence, nor does mine.  You look to your people too highly, we stand weak.  Open your eyes, Kayrin.  You are lucky the Urguan did not march her armies west on your foolish declarations of independence.  You are very right however, it belongs to /Adunians/.  Not some horse **** you renamed because you wanted to feel special.  You emerged from nothingness; you were not here in the times of need.  The few Adunians who truly deserve it are with /me/.  Those who served the Elendils since birth.  You claimed my brother named you the Lord, yet did no such thing.  Your lies have only led you to even more trouble.  I will not have a Hightower play as Adunian lord.  I will not back down.”
