Zezimus 1523 Share Posted March 23, 2014 A Guide to Dwarven Clans Hello everyone. This guide is specifically aimed at those who are currently applying to the server or are thinking of role playing as a dwarven character now or in the future. It contains a list of the major clans who are currently active within the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and provides a brief overview of what their general roleplay entails of. My hope is that this might help players who are looking to play a dwarf, as well as encourage them to involve these clan traits within their role play. Please note that just because a clan does not fit the norm of your character, that certainly does not mean you shouldn't consider joining it. This guide is merely to give players the information they need if they are in any way struggling to decide which clan to apply for. Therefore, this is not to discourage players from applying as a more unusual character within one of the clans if they wish. The Elder Clans - These are the original descendant clans of the eight sons of Urguan and have been in existence from around the period following the dawn of time. The Common Clans - These are clans who over the years have branched off from one of the elder clans and have chosen to form their own lineage. The Elder Clans The Grandaxe Clan: A clan of Mountain Dwarves, the Grandaxes are often regarded as the natural leaders of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, known throughout history to have ruled the dwarven race longer than any other clan. Hailing originally from the wild mountains of northern Aegis, they are known as skilled labourers, and hold a particular affinity for lumberjacking. A minority however choose to follow in the art of blacksmithing. Many among their clan are widely renowned as skilled Legionnaires, often taking upon commanding rolls and leading at the forefront of dwarven armies, while others are said to be regarded highly within the Remembrancers and the Clergy. As a clan, they idolize those they deem honourable and have retained a heavy influence within the dwarven government for hundreds of years. The Ireheart Clan: A clan of Mountain Dwarves, the Irehearts usually choose to serve as members of the Legion or within the nation’s workforce. However, there are also those who prefer the path of merchanting. Many of their soldiers are known to be the most ruthless and fearful warriors in the Grand Kingdom. They are avid followers of Dungrimm, their patron god and believe his word to be law. The members who choose to work in the workforce are sometimes strong and sturdy builders and architects, who have been known to create great and elaborate designs in short periods of time. The Irehearts have influenced the dwarven nation throughout its history and have helped shape it into what it has become in the present era. The Frostbeard Clan: A clan of Mountain Dwarves, the Frostbeards are skilled warriors, as well as merchants. Having endured a long and bloody history among the northern mountain ranges of Aegis, they are extremely prideful of their ancient heritage. Rather than berserkers however, they hold organisation and tactical planning in the highest regard when in service to the Legion. Furthermore the merchants among the clan are renowned for their skills in trade and bargaining. Their strong belief in maintaining their wealth and riches at all costs has put them in a position of high esteem within the dwarven nation for many centuries. The Treebeard Clan: A clan of Forest Dwarves, the Treebeards are renowned for trying to live life in luxury, usually spending time enjoying the little things and making sure their tankards are always filled to the brim. The Treebeards often excel in lumberjacking, woodworking and farming. Some Treebeards have taken the path of Druidism and have done well living a Druidic life. However those that do not take to the Aspects generally follow the religion of the Brathmordakin and the Paragons. Regardless, the Treebeards respect each other equally, despite any difference in political or religious views. Although they are not pacifists, the Treebeards will usually stray from the warrior lifestyle and are not known to be great fighters. The Irongut Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, the Ironguts were one of the first clans to regain their history and band back together again during the reign of King Simmpa. Irongut dwarves are known magic users of the dwarven nation, having also been known to become members of the Ascended and Undead orders. Their clan members are very closely knit and defend each other at any chance they can. Almost all members of the clan follow the Brathmordakin and have had members in all guilds at some point in time. Ironguts also pride themselves on their use in the magical arts, collecting artifacts, and recording the histories of their clan and the Kingdom. The Starbreaker Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, the Starbreakers most commonly follow in either the steps of Arbrek Starbreaker the Blacksmith or Kazraden Starbreaker the High Prophet, or even a mixture of both. The Starbreakers pride themselves on being resilient, devout, and masters of the forge. The Clan is known to differ greatly on its opinions of the other races, either perceiving them as nothing more then vermin with rare exceptions or holding them into good esteem. This is also similiar when they consider mages. The clan holds a strong policy of neutrality, often keeping a level head and avoiding the politics and drama of other clans as they keep to themselves and weigh in on matters when they feel necessary. The Goldhand Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, the Goldhands at their core are a family of merchants. Those with Goldhand blood have long been amongst the best and most successful vendors in the dwarven realm, but the clan is not limited to just merchants. The clan includes accomplished architects, soldiers, political leaders, and treasure hunters. Distinguished as a noble clan for their accomplishments and long standing support of the dwarven nation, Goldhands are proud of their lineage. The blood-bond within the clan is incredibly strong and Goldhands look out for their family members and are willing to fight ferociously for their honor. The Ironborn Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, widely believed to be extinct, the Ironborn once held great prestige within the clergy of the Brathordakin, and within the dwarven government itself. However, their scheming and seemingly deceitful nature often led them towards levels of great distrust from the rest of their kin. As it turned out, this distrust was well founded. After the collapse of the First Kingdom of Urguan, they seized the throne, forging an Empire within which they utilised tyranny to retain order. They reverted the Clergy’s worship away from the Brathmordakin, in favour instead of a monotheistic faith in Khorvad. Their over ambition ultimately drove them to annihilation however when an alliance of clans defeated them at Kal’Urguan. The Common Clans The Thunderfist Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, the Thunderfists were once Ironguts who separated from the clan during the reign of Grand King Thorin Grandaxe. They are a small, yet fierce clan. Thunderfists tend to either become Legionaires or Mages and like their Irongut cousins, they possess Aengul blood. The Thunderfists fought wildly during the first and second wars against Oren, losing a few of their numbers. After the first war, they all but disappeared, moving to the North to sabotage the forces of Setherien. They returned to fight in the second war against Oren, and though their numbers are small, they are slowly becoming an active force within the Grand Kingdom once more. Aengoth 2890 Share Posted March 23, 2014 The Starbreaker Clan: A clan of Cave Dwarves, the Starbreakers most commonly follow in either the steps of Arbrek Starbreaker the Blacksmith or Kazraden Starbreaker the High Prophet or a mixture of both. The Starbreakers pride themselves on being resilient, devout, and masters of the forge. They often still manage to occupy positions of importance even while struggling to maintain there numbers. The Clan is known to differ greatly on its opinions of the other races, either perceiving the other races as nothing more then vermin with rare exceptions or holding the other races into good esteem, this also being similiar when they consider mages. The clan holds a strong policy of neutrality often keeping a level head and avoiding the politics and drama of other clans as they keep to themselves and weigh in on matters when they feel necessary . Many smaller clans have been produced by his clan, chief of them being the deceased Silverfingers and Azaghals.
