Question Regarding Rp/pvp

So, the fallback for matters of combat is PvP, this I understand. Defaults and such. But, what amount of RP is expected prior to PvP? All I've recently seen is half-assed nonsense followed by a countdown. Most of the time, there isn't even emotes of weapons being drawn.

Can an admin/gm/staff present an acceptable example and express the precise punishment for failure to meet these basic standards? Thanks.

I'd say the amount of RP should be flexible, a courtesy depending on who you are RPing with depending on what their preferences are. Though I've generally been going with roleplaying every stage until one comes to blows with the opponent, if differs in group fights though.

The reason they do it is because of the rule saying that if you start RP fighting, you must continue RP fighting. I haven't had this happen to me myself, but many bandits have RP'd a bit before the PVP but when they wanted to PVP the victim said that they had started RP' fighting and must continue RP fighting. So then the bandits start doing less RP before PVP so that doesn't happen, but then people complain about there not being enough RP. It's an endless cycle and no matter what bandits do they just can't win.

Which can be solved by a GM being more specific. The rule is pretty broad, so it is up for interpretation. It needs revising so that there is no room for error. This exact thing has happened to me, and it is annoying at times.

I would still genuinely prefer a response from a staff member capable of enforcing ruling's response.

This isn't meant to be a bash fest on Bandits and I don't give a squirt to hear complaints on either side about that angle. I just wanted a provided example of what the rules would require. It's a HUGE grey area and I know all about it. Used to deal with the crap all the time, defaulting makes matter easier. But, I would like to know the punishments and intended regulation of sorts.

The issue is is that a number of the staff do not actually play much in the game, so their judgement is utterly flawed and impractical. James2k hit on something that rings true, RP purists will pull that rule out of their pocket to suction folks into 20-40 min. emote fight whenever a player obliges with more than one line of text to enter PvP and get a quick resolution.

So, in summary it's acceptable for people to do pretty much no RP then pvp. -shrug- Fair enough.

Would still like a member of direct staff to post an acceptable example for concrete reference.

Enough so that the other player you're engaging with, knows that your character seeks to engage in combat with them.

"Minas or die." shouldn't be against the rules, there just needs to be consequence in-character for doing so.
