History

The House of Brunswick was initially created from the Knighting of Oskar Brunswick, the first known member of the dynasty. Ser Oskar Brunswick became Gentry from his Knighting at the hands of Balian Guivret, the then Duke of Auvergne in Asulon. An elderly man, Oskar would soon pass away, and his eldest son Edmond would be next to be Knighted by Balian. Edmond’s siblings would receive no such title and were generally unrecognized and estranged throughout his life. As Gentry, Brunswick would live on without many major advancements as a young man.

A brief stint as Lord Regent of Auvergne would see the fortress of Krak du Rhoswen sold to the still untested Order of the White Rose. The fortress would become the seat that would foster the growth of Order of the White Rose and Edmond’s advancement in society. Edmond would eventually become a Great Ser upon the White Rose’s entrance into the official Knightly Orders of Oren. Edmond would fight loyally with the Order of the White Rose as a veteran of many conflicts.

Edmond Brunswick’s increased social stature would see his marriage to Leana Stafyr. Edmond would father two children who would be born Stafyrs due to the matrilineal marriage that Edmond was initially married under. When His Imperial Majesty, Peter I Chivay formed the Kingdom of Kaedrin, Edmond would be granted a county in Lachsin, finally securing House Brunswick as a noble house.

Upon the initial disbandment of the Order of the White Rose, Edmond followed Adeon and the Marked Men to the Marked Island, to live out the rest of his days in relative seclusion. Fearing the end of the Brunswick dynasty, Edmond would have an impromptu wedding to a serving girl, officiated by Adeon and Temp. Edmond would father a child with said serving girl, leaving secret instructions to both Temp and Adeon to keep said child secret and to raise him as they might a son of their own. Plagued by guilt from what he had done and the disbandment of the Order, Edmond would eventually commit suicide by drowning himself. Edmond would later by canonized as a Saint.

Donatien, Edmond’s son, has come of age and sought out the Emperor Peter Chivay to serve, as his father had done before him.

Relics

Vulpine, the ancestral blade of House Brunswick was lost at sea when St. Edmond committed suicide. The blade is considered priceless to the family.

St. Edmond also bore a set of ornate, hand crafted armor that bore depictions of foxes. This armor was also lost to the sea.

The retrieval or reforging of these items is considered an object of paramount importance for the House.

Expectations

All members of House Brunswick are expected to maintain a countenance befitting of their station at all times. This means that House members must act as a noble would, etiquette is instilled in all members of the House from an early age and these requirements are expected to be met. Behaving like a member of lower class will see your eventual expulsion from the House at the discretion of the House patriarch.

As Orenian nobles, members of House Brunswick are expected to only marry humans. To marry outside of these guidelines will result in immediate expulsion from the House. The law of what constitutes a human is defined in Orenian law, that is, there must be no more than ¼ of any non human blood to be considered a human.

Culture

House Brunswick maintains the Auvergnian culture of the Duchy of Auvergne in Asulon. With Edmond’s raising in the Auvergne of old, his family has continued this culture and its values. Family is integral in Auvergnian culture, as are good manners, good food, good wine and good company.

The still living Leana Stafyr is glad to know that family is so important to her husband's line, seeing as the son of a ***** fathered two kids, then committed bigamy and drowned himself, depriving his legally born heirs of a father and a wife of her beloved husband.

((Great to see you back, man.))
