One being the innocent little Mai'ame he is at heart, and the other being the bothered and troublesome Shade-boy with a tortured and tormented mind. His look would portray each of these traits hopefully, and with the background maybe have a nice scenic sort of forest, but transparently a sort of dark and apocalyptic look..?
