[Feedback] What Is Truly Wrong With The Media Team

 Share

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to piss on your work or anything, but if the feedback is being listened to why are you using medis team resources to make a screenplay with voiceover when its been said repeatedly that's not what people want? Thats like when the majority were saying they didn't want the news work anymore and it was announced that despite that feedback the newscast wasn't going anywhere. Its starting to feel like any feedback given is being ignored despite the many requests by the MT for feedback.

I am going to have to agree with Elindor that a lot of these projects seem fairly self indulgent. Yes we're young, creative people here on LoTC but that doesn't mean staff members can use their time on their own preferences as opposed to doing the duty they signed up for.

I don't know that you've understood me correctly. It seems that you've jumped to conclusions based upon assumptions.

Where your prior posts complain about the lack of such content, you now criticise any attempted steps towards satisfying such. You don't help the stereotype that is those that simply whine about every move the MT makes, regardless of direction.

A screenplay is required for any project. 'Voice-acting' doesn't necessarily mean it's a newscast.

Or perhaps, it's simply my fault for being vague. I've told you what it is not, it's not ridiculously hard to figure out what it is, based upon the feedback in this thread. Just please, don't get excited with your presuppositions.

I gave you a hint in an attempt to show that not all is as you believe, but you've misinterpreted it. I find that your eisegesis smells more of self-indulgence than anything else.

...Perhaps a film made on Minecraft with full voice-over and no text chat would be really really cool, but that would require you guys to work as a team and would take a lot of effort.

Hmmmmm.... I wonder...

Instead of becoming overly-defensive and spending several lines worth of text to attempt to berate me when I genuinely mean no harm (nor did I suggest what you are doing is a newscast, I simply compared the situation to the situation with the newscasts), a better way of responding rather than going on as you did would be to simply use the following response: it's simply my fault for being vague.

You're right. I do apologise.

I am fairly certain that this has all been a misinterpretation of intent. Theres a distinct lack of tone in written word. Aelidar is level headed enough to not be berating you to blindly defend his planned project.

silly elindor, i am a master of sass. i can tell when i have been sassed.

However I feel no ill will and apologize for misunderstanding your point, Aelidar. for some reason I thought you were going to do like a cheesy play or something. That's what I get for reading the forums at work.

Back on topic and to Soda pop's point: Has anyone considered crafting a blender minecraft rig for LoTC media purposes? I know there is a rig out there already for download but having our own branded one with a specific media-team-approved texture pack and guide for easy use could make it a lot easier to do some really interesting stuff.

Nobody really answered my question, but here's a simple script idea for an animation/trailer in case we have a team that's up for the job:

Scene: A camera rolls over a sunrise where a Halfling character or two stand in a field, smiling (Have it pause on the characters, in bold fancy lettering write HALFLINGS). Peaceful music would probably play. The scene would darken a little and turn to a forest, where a big Orc is climbing out (pauses on the Orc, write out ORCS in fancy bold lettering) and marching hungrily towards the Halflings. Maybe he's brandishing an axe, or a bone club. Perhaps it could even be a small band of Orcs together. As the near the Halflings, arrows spring out from the forest they came from and kill a few of the Orcs, and the camera zooms in to show some Elves with bows (it pauses on them, saying ELVES in fancy bold lettering).

That's just something from the top of my head, imagine what a whole team could think up... Hopefully this got some ideas going!

Are any of the ET talented with using Blender or any other program to make animations?

I asked earlier but got no response, are any Media Team members talented at animating with Blender/other rendering programs?

Well, I'm not in the Media Team, but I am capable of doing some sorts of animations with blender. Still learning it, but at this rate I can make full length animations/trailers with blender quite soon :)

You can have a look of what I accomplished in two evenings from here: https://www.youtube.com/user/kurpo/videos

Hmmmm, have you ever checked the herald? We have shown videos with animations

Have you checked the graphics thread? I believe Samsan has a thread there for pictures.

Gab was once on MT, he seemed to have that ability.

Simmpa, that's incredible!!! I've heard animations take forever but you seem to have a knack with it. You should keep trying to push your limits in what you can do with it, and see how far you've made it in a week. :D That reminds me of the old trailer with animations man, it was SO beast.

that's almost an exact squote from an aegis trailer idea, isn't it? THOUGHT I WOULDN'T NOTICE IT EVEN IF IT WAS PROBABLY YOUR IDEA INITIALLY, DID YA'?

It was actually a recording of someone's wedding that first drew my attention to the server, then I joined after watching a few Let's Play videos. I think it would help the MT if they coordinated with the ET and recorded not only major battles, but actual RP events. Maybe get some voice actors to reenact it. Showcase the RP side of the RP server.

This Video here is what drew me to the server, it was player made not MT made, after seeing it i applied the next day.:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUmr9dRvv9c

You guys should be listening to them.

Players actually attracted by specific videos on LotC.

The way I see it, these already present players need to stop trying to tell the Media Team their job is to attract new players then say they know what the new players want. We need to be doing is simply trying everything and also specifically looking into what THESE TWO are saying.

If you're gonna try and make something have to do with RP, make it immersive. Make it have feeling. And on the note of Let's Plays, while not really an MT thing I'd say, it sure is effective.

I actually didn't know it was an idea from Aegis, I got the idea from the old trailer! :P But hey, if this idea is reoccurring... It can only be fate. The stars are aligned. It's time to make the trailer.
