A Regret

Recommended Posts

Vorstag Grandaxe slowly paces down the newly built palace halls,

his walk brisk and his expression cold. Not one elven hour

ago the young Silverblade boy marched in to Arkon, his sword the length

of a spear, his combat skills carrying the aura of a skygod. Alas,

the boy had escaped with no Dwarfs harmed. This isn't

what bothered the Grand King, what bothered him

was that despite all they had done for the Silverblades, they

sent children in to the capital of Arkon like assassins to

take the life of the king. Where was the retribution on

the Silverblades when they betrayed Oren, when they took

help in the Dwarves and when they hid behind our walls

from the race they betrayed?

There is none, they marched in to Oren without hesitation,

and to no hesitation, turned their blades on the Race once

their protectorates. Where is the honor of Huron Silverblade?

He has disgraced the House once run great by Pius Silverblade

and Audric Silverblade. I fear these days are gone, not only do they

send children to do their dirty work, but they betrayed Oren only to Betray

Urguan. Who can trust the integrity of these oathbreakers? None.

How can Pius stand by blaming this on us? How can he

allow Huron to send Pius' own son to murder the Grand King.

How can Oren stand by knowing that the Silverblades turned

on the second Empire of Oren, and fight alongside the Tarus

rebellion. I regret the decisions of me predecessors, not only

trusting House Silverblade, but involving themselves in the petty

power grab created by the Tarus rebellion. It was dishonorable.

Siguine Bresinov sighs as he reads the missive.

"Too little, too late. Uruguan's onslaught on the Vochna, whether through Tarus, Setherin, or Zion, was a heavy stain on dwarven honor that the Lords of the Raev will not forget. Consorting with unpunished Silverblade rebels is arbitrary yet until the dwarves confess of their war-mongering and restore their long-sullied name, it is the lesser of two evils."

Vorstag has already confessed his regret for the mistakes of previous kings, but one cannot blame him for what they did.

"Didnt you do this to the snow elves though, you helped kill them at Lindale then they are now your ally in war?"

Anumirel Devallei can testify against this. On the contrary; the Dwarves were completely neutral in the war. This was better for the snow elves. It helped them develop their own identity.

Kardel, meanwhile, is not surprised. The kin of Pius and his brood will always be his enemies. He will not once forget what happened in Vaerhaven, where the silverblades tried to kill him to end his Jarlship. "Khorvad bid ye evil, ye suns o' butches. Ah dun' care wut da dorves /did/ tae yer. We 'oused yer, an' loike un trustless serpent ye betrayed os. Green be nae yer color fer naefin. Ah trueleh du 'ope ye peris'. . .anudder alloi gune."
