There is this one series I only read half of, but it's very impressive
The Great Book of Amber

Ten books all into one huge one, I only stopped reading because I had too much schoolwork.

Although this is more science fiction, I'd recommend Mortal Engines by Philip Reeves.

If you've read the Hobbit and LOTRs I would suggest the Silmarillion, that details the mythic age before man.
