I'm going to start by saying this is something I plan to start come 4.0. This is moreso my getting feedback over whether or not I should rather than me telling the staff to do it.

 

I am suggesting weekly events. These events would be quests of different sorts, which people can participate in by going to this temple/tavern/tower. Every Sunday or Saturday, the questgiver would talk about a tentacle monster at a farm in Urguan, or three parts of a staff that most be recovered from three different dungeons around the globe, or an object that must be signed by Billy Bob the legendary farmer. The rest of the week it would function as a tavern or something. Quests could have item or monetary rewards for those who complete them.

 

Pros:

Provides consistent roleplay for sellswords, soldiers, and adventurers.

Provides roleplay for people in cities because you have these adventurers running around towns asking for information.

Just provides consistent roleplay that is always a different quest and adventure, so roleplay does not become monotonous.

 

Cons:

Centralizes roleplay in a location that is not a nation.

Might result in an overdependence on the quests for roleplay, and cities are empty because everybody wants to be a hero. (This I highly doubt because people will always want to do peaceful roleplay or do some sort of training, so cities may not be full during quest days but they will be populated)

Would require significant coordination and possibly help from the Event Team. (Not really a con but a potential roadblock to it working in the long run).

Makes LOTC resemble even more an rpg. (Again, not necessarily a bad thing and it will be far more dynamic than rpg quests because there aren't any npcs)

 

I got this idea from the Gala-something island dungeon in Anthos, where every few days the necromancer would come back and people would have to go through the dungeon to stop him. I also got it from a text-based MUD rpg I played for a while.

Quest Events would be neat, hard to plan and work out, but neat nonetheless.

Also Ever had something like this but GM priorities took over. They were impromtu events ran by the "Gilded Compass"

Ooh, I like the idea. I personally think that centralizing roleplay to one place isn't a bad thing, but since it's in the cons, here's another idea!

 

You can use the ET to help out with the adventures and whatnot, blah blah, but you could also use them (or other players) to make this tavern/tower/whatever place in several cities/nations. That way, people won't have to travel as far to get to this singular spot, and they can instead visit their local one just around the block!

Alright! So it'd be a chain of taverns, not just a single spot... This would be even harder to organize, I think, but I like it! I only put it in the cons because some people don't like non-nation centralization. I personally have no problem with it.
