IV. Military of the Empire

The August Imperial Marshal Vibius de Sola

Trust, loyalty, allegiance, valor!”

 - Virtues of the Exercitus Imperium

With the renewal of the House of Chivay and the downfall of the dynasty of Crows, the need for military reform had never before been more evident, nor necessary in the eyes of the people and their lords alike.  Levy units were disorganized, commanded by oathless lords and often filled with sellswords.  Knightly orders acted as they pleased with no regard for their fatherland’s directives.

This has been met by change; dire, unrelenting change to bring about cold, hard efficiency in the new Empire’s military.  As a whole, the ragged Orenian warbands have been granted new direction, transformed and converted into the newly-founded imperial army - the Exercitus Imperium.

Under the oversight of the new Imperial Marshal, the August Vibius de Sola of Kaedrin, the military is to adopt a more centralized doctrine capitaled in the crown and its administrators.  Successful measures in this regard have been taken over these past few months, with noblemen and levymen alike snapping into line, calls for a new Orenian militarism and nationalism arising from the lowest pleb to the greatest highlord.

One particular reform that forces the aristocracy to submit to the greater, overall Exercitus’ hierarchy is the conception of the legionary system of what has been coined by some bureaucrats as the Vibian doctrine - a military policy which teaches centralization in military is key, that even the slightest hint of treasonous activity is punishable by death, and that those who serve with valor ought to be rewarded after their service.  Rather than mudded down with disorganized companies of peasants, lords will have their levies organized into a formal roster which would be then converted in wartime to a cohort - a unit which consists of around 500 men, or a company - around 120 men.  Those units which lack armament will be reimbursed as such by the Exercitus’ commanders.  Though nobles are entitled to retain their hold on the men in those companies alongside their autonomy in peacetime, during war these units will be raised and be subject to the Emperor, the Imperial Marshal and the Legates of the Exercitus.

((The concurrent Lord Stafyr and Count of Schattenburg is Symon Stafyr, as Farley left his titles to him (due to RL reasons of Emenzi).))

You list a Count Winter of Herendul in section II subsection "Counts and Countesses", and then a Harold II Winter, Duke of Herendul in the "Imperial Demesne" subsection, also within section II.

Numerous similar discrepancies are visible, so I've restructured the Imperial Demesne subsection to reflect the section II listing of titles. I would also question the use of “Marchlord” as an address to a Marquess in II subsection Marquis (as well as the lack of the feminine for the title unlike the other titles listed, just a matter of aesthetics). This is more properly styled “Right Honorable”, parallel to the comital rank with which it shares station. I’ve also noted Basileus as a Carrion vassal, as I was under the impression that he was, and have added his first name as well as attempting to add Baron Rovin’s, but I was unable to confirm which family member was at the head of the house at 5 am. Correct any of this if otherwise. Further, as it is an overview of the demesnes and not of the lords, I would suggest adjusting this section to simply describe the feudatories, and not their lords. That said, all this is somewhat futile with 4.0 looming on the horizon, so do what you will. Additionally, I've assumed that the overarching section II was correct, not the Imperial Demesne section, so if this is otherwise notify me on skype and I'll make the changes to the other section accordingly:

((If you wouldn't mind extra work, it'd be nice if the mcname of the players in the privy council be put beside their names.))
